Chapter 42: Qinling Mountains

" Remember the military will only have two representatives maximum. So prepare well and discuss with your teacher when you have time."

"Now about the special mission, the Ancient Capital military has decided to lead an expedition into the Qinling mountains. They want to map the area and reasses it's danger levels.

The birds of Qinling mountains are generally well behaved, but we don't have a good assessment of the danger that maybe lurking there.

During my break, I went to Qinling mountains and reached what the first layer with the help of elderly mage there in the army but I couldn't progress any further alone.

A special type of Wind called Wind of Sorrow blows there. In the lower regions it is random and unpredictable every second it is like an intermediate spell hitting you. Now I'll explain the mission to you since I have the chance.

Qinling military will be the ones doing the actual exploration and it is bound to take a long time, investigation and gathering information has only started during this period we have one mission drive a few of the undead and let them fight with the beasts on the mountain.

But this mission isn't easy either, between Qinling mountains and Undead plains lie a small horde of Blood Tabi Beasts, we will start by eliminating these beasts, after eliminating these Blood Tabi Beasts we can actually proceed with our mission.

The Blood Tabi Beasts have a Ruler inferior leader. We will take it out. For the next two weeks different squads will provoke these beasts and draw out their Ruler while three Super mages lie in ambush.

So basically I want you to take this mission now that your training period is over. Strong mages are born in flames of battle. This will be a good opportunity for you and besides you guys won't be alone."

"But the Blood Tabi Beasts have quite a few Commanders don't they? Isn't a bit of a stretch throwing me into this puddle " 

Cao Guang was unwilling to fight an enemy so far above his level, he would more happy to hunt an advanced mage than a Commander.

"Don't worry, unlike Qinling military we have an understanding about Blood Tabi Beasts distribution and the location of every Commander,just follow around advanced mages and help them."

"Alright, whom do I report to?".

Help the Qinling military out hmph, these Blood Tabi Beasts make great magic boots while making the Undead fight the birds is even more helpful. The military is certainly planning ahead it's just the magic association and the other half of the military is reluctant. 

"Your Commander will be assigned normally, I just wanted to convince you to join, You can go and prepare the Missions start in three days".

Every Super Mage was a deterrence against demon beasts regardless of which type. Ancient Capital has plenty of Super Mages being a headquarters level city. A good majority were Light Mages as well. A new Super mage was born to an organisation that would tip the balance between the demon beasts and humans.

Ancient Capital was no way near to exterminating the Undead. They hadn't even seen the tail of the Emperor for years. Emperors didn't die of old age so they were sure it was alive, one form or another. Since they couldn't deal with the Undead, they would deal with others.

This time it was the Blood Tabi Beasts turn and possibly the Qinling birds. Ancient Capital military were support in the second Mission.

Such wars weren't uncommon every species fought to exterminate another and thereby improve themselves. Humans had done it other species and others had done it to humans as well. 

There had been plenty of human kingdoms that were eliminated from the face of the Earth in history, but they all had laid foundations of a newer version. The current Five magic associations were three before the Americas were discovered.

Cao Guang had no clearance to know the truth about the Blood Tabi Beasts war but since he was told about the Qinling expedition even though he was only a Sergeant meant the higher had great hopes for him. 

One had to have great understanding about magic to form something like the Incendiary Fire system or a plugin knowledge. They may not be just hoping him to grow stronger for the World College tournament but also may hope for him to improve some magic Formations. But he was only a dabbler in those things. He had done intense research of the formation of ancient Capital and had borrowed books from whomever he could but he was more looking for the Formations left by the Ancient King.
