Chapter 126: Dark Abyss

Han Ji and Lu Han steadied their spells as they stood up to the Nether Bone Ruler, the three headed skeleton had lost all its fear factor after the appearance and disappearance of the Dark Abyss as it shifted away with a form of Blink.

A supermassive structure of Space, Chaos, Undead and Earth elements holding more than a million souls on its entry wall shifting away as humans and beasts watched on with helplessness.

The Undead were far tamer that night compared to other solstices. Han Ji rallied the forces of Ancient Capital with Lu Han, after a laborious twelve hours the sun rose as it purged the scent of death and the Undead from the battlefield.

If survivors were the victors, then human beings had won for more than twenty millennia.

Han Ji looked over the list of people that fell into Dark Abyss with pain, their relatives and loved ones had to be informed.

Han Ji felt he had failed them when he was unable to track such a thing as it crept close to Ancient Capital. He needed to make preventive measures to locate the Dark Abyss once it appeared near human settlement at least. He invested massive amounts in to the researchers of Ancient Capital.

In the meantime he apologised to families of those people personally.

One name of the list brought some memories to him, Cao Guang, Pang Lai's disciple, Fei Jiao's student.

He had thought of the young man as someone who could do great things in the future and now he had to let them know that he had perished.

Pang Lai was disturbed from his recovery for the second time by news from Cao Guang, only this time it was news about his demise.

" I will watch Bo and your friends. This old man can do that for atleast another eighty years"

Forbidden Curse level mages could live upto 150 years. Breaking through in more than one element did not alter that fact in any way.

Super mages were not human themselves, physiologically speaking they were becoming closer to Demon beasts at the Half step Forbidden Curse realm.

At the Forbidden Curse level, 75 was only the mid point of one's life and 90 was the onset of old age. Pang Lai had yet to even recover from his wounds let alone Break through, but he was confident that he would.

Fei Jiao had received the news when he was with his child after the battle.

Cao Guang was not a descendant of the Ancient King, atleast not a pure one. The only reason he survived was because the Little Tora pendant extending it's helping hand and encasing him in a protective shield.

He could have saved Luo Heng, if he was on the ground with him when he was caught by the Dark Abyss. He was still flying on his way back from fighting that Horned Massacre Commander.

He knew that it wasn't his fault, by when he thought about Luo Heng becoming a wailing face plasterered on the Dark Abyss, he couldn'tb help but blame himself.

After a few minutes he looked up to the Dark Abyss, he couldn't make out any clear shapes. There seemed to be a barrier between where he stood and the Dark Abyss. But he could see spectre and souls on the wall like clouds in the sky.

" I will free you, and I will tear this mausoleum down if I have to, screw the Ancient King and his Undead".

Cao Guang observed and found himself in a White Palace Tomb rather than the so called Dark Abyss. But he knew the Dark Abyss was just the entrance beneath it was the Emperor's final Mausoleum and few secrets rather than a furnace of the Undead.

He could escape the same way he came from, when the Dark Abyss completed it's spatial jump. It couldn't kill him and he had no desire to become the next Ancient King, so he wouldn't go exploring.
