Unexpected Visit

A week had already passed since the incident at the amusement park where I got the Instant Paralysis Shock. Since then, I've been trying to understand how this advantage system given by that God works. I realized there are conditions for missions to be unlocked for me to complete, like when we went to the park and faced that attack. But what I've been wondering is how much I can influence these conditions with my actions to have some control over the missions. So, this past week, I've tried things like giving small shocks in the air or even practicing some punches and kicks, hoping to gain some fighting technique, but so far, no results," thought Ganrai as he twirled his chopsticks after eating some delicious sashimi.

"Well, it seems that I can't influence or direct the system's missions, but they are automatically activated as events unfold in my life... does that mean there's some god controlling the timing, selecting the missions and the conditions for them to be activated? That would make total sense, because obviously these specific missions wouldn't just come out of nowhere, or would they? So many questions..."

"Hey, Ganrai," said Shintaro, who was sitting next to him but hadn't finished eating yet.

"I had an idea. Why don't you try testing one of your abilities on me? It might help you learn to control them," said the boy.

"It's exactly because I don't know how to control them well that it wouldn't be smart to test them on you, Shintaro," said Ganrai.

"Besides, I don't think the system would activate if I tried using the goro goro no mi on him because, if my guess is right, I'll only unlock another attack when I face someone as strong or stronger than me. Plus, there might be other conditions I'm not aware of. But then again, since I don't have any attack unlocked with the Magu magu no mi, maybe if I tried hitting Shintaro, it could unlock it. But I really don't want to hurt him, and I still don't know if, in case I fail to complete a mission, it would reappear at some point or if I'd lose that ability forever," thought Ganrai, until he was interrupted by Yu and a boy Ganrai knew was called Naoki, who was about the same age as Shintaro.

"Guys, let's play a 2v2 basketball game at the park... Me and Naoki against Ganrai and Shintaro."

"Fine by me," said Shintaro.

"I don't want to, I just ate... I don't feel like moving right now," said Ganrai, lounging in his chair, looking at the two boys.

"Stop being a spoilsport. We can wait 15 minutes, we still have time before the next class. It'll be fun!" said Yu.

"Okay, first to 7 points wins," agreed Ganrai.

A few minutes passed, and the four boys were now on a small basketball court, with the score 6-4 for the Yu and Naoki team. Yu had the ball, guarded by Ganrai. After some dribbling, Yu attempted a shot from the paint for two points, and Ganrai jumped with all his might but couldn't block it.

"Damn, I asked God to be tall, and I am for my age, but bridging the gap between an 11-year-old and a 4-year-old who hasn't even hit his growth spurt yet is impossible," thought Ganrai, watching the ball hit the rim twice before falling into Shintaro's hands for a defensive rebound. The boy carried the ball to the offense, guarded by Naoki, then passed it to Ganrai. Ganrai did some crossovers, stepped back to the three-point line, and shot, but the ball didn't even reach the rim.

"Damn four-year-old body, if I were at least four years older, that shot would've gone in," he thought.

"Hey kids, we have to stop the game," said Rose, who had come to the middle of the court and grabbed the ball.

"WHY? WE HAVE TO FINISH THE GAME," said Yu.

"Class is about to start; you need to get to the classroom!"

"Okay," said the boy, disappointed, as he walked towards the classroom.

"Ganrai, you need to come with me," said the woman.

"Alright," said Ganrai, following her with a hint of reluctance, even though he knew he hadn't done anything wrong. When they reached the spot in front of the door he had entered when he first arrived at the orphanage, he had an idea why he was being called. On a bench sat Sister Mary, next to the armored hero who had saved his classmates at the park, and a woman with gray hair.

"Ganrai-kun, this is the great hero Yoroi Musha and his wife. They want to say a few words to you."

"Kid, in the last incident, I noticed you already had and awakened your Quirk, and not only that, you had the courage to risk your life to help save your classmates and the lady present.

To me, that is one of the greatest qualities a hero can have, and my wife and I would like to adopt you."

"Wow, that was so sudden...," said the boy.

"You don't need to decide now. If you decide you'd like to be our son, the sisters at this orphanage will know how to contact me," the man turned and left.

"See you later, dear," said the gray-haired woman with a gentle smile.

"Think about it carefully, Ganrai. Many kids in this orphanage would give anything to be in your position right now," said Mary.

"Okay," said Ganrai, returning to his classroom in silence, his mind full of thoughts, until he heard another sound from the system.
