Madam Rachel

As the time passed Raymond started feeling more and more uneasy. He suddenly expanded his senses to cover the whole capital city.

He concentrated in the direction of his family compounds and soon heard some servants talking amongst themselves.

"Hey, did you hear? Jasmine was arrested by the disciplinary elder today for attacking Grandmaster Vincent." Servant A said.

"What? Why did she attack Grandmaster Vincent? Isn't Grandmaster Vincent missing from the manor since yesterday?"

Servant B asked.

"I don't know all the details, but poor Jasmine is done for, they will give her a death sentence for attacking a noble." Servant A sighed.

As soon as Raymond heard that he felt a surge of anger.

"Uncle, I have to hurry back home, you quickly come to the family hall." With that he took off running towards his family's direction.

"Wait, what happ-" He was gone before Victor could complete his question.

Rachel Wagner was a very ambitious woman. As long as she could remember she always had lofty goals in her life.

But those dreams were crushed when she learned the truth of the society, that it was almost impossible to become a decision maker in a patriarchal family like the Wagners.

Yes, she was born in the Noble House of Wagner where daughters were only used as a means to further their political standings by marrying them off to other powerful noble families.

She had accepted her fate and resigned herself to become just a dutiful wife to whoever became her husband.

But she felt like God was smiling down on her when she heard that she was to become the wife of Marcus Clover, the second born son of the Clover family.

After all, the Clover family was different from other nobles. Family head was always stationed at the border, hence why there was a special rule established by the Clover family ancestors.

According to this rule, the wife of the head would be appointed as the Madam of the family and govern the family and its people and had the same authority as that of a family head.

Moreover, the Clover family's head, Thomas, was already a widower when she married into the family and that made her, the wife of the next in line to become the head, Madam of the family.

She was ecstatic when she became a part of the Clover family. She wanted to make the Clover family the strongest family among all the noble families.

It had been 15 years since she became the Madam and she had yet to achieve her dream. After all these years, she had realised why the Colver family was most trusted by the Imperial family to guard the border.

It's because the men of the Clover family were downright idiots. They had no ambitions whatsoever other than to serve the Imperial family.

They had the marquis status when the FireBorn empire was born and they still only had the marquis status even after thousands of years. In all these years they hadn't even managed to make a bloodline connection with the Imperial family.

Rachel had shed tears of blood when she realised she was stuck in a family of fools. She thought she could change their way of thinking when she first came to the family, she would have given up already if not for Raymond, he became her only hope when he got engaged with the seventh princess.

She had already started scheming to make Raymond the next Emperor. But again her dream was crushed when she heard that the princess had cancelled her engagement with Raymond.

She was extremely pissed with Raymond right now and wanted to tear him a new one.

'Damn you! Raymond. Don't let me get my hands on you, I will drown you in your own fucking blood.' She was in her cursing mode when she heard that a maid had attacked Grandmaster Vincent.

She was surprised to find out that Grandmaster Vincent was back, she thought that he had run away from the family, the same thing she wanted to do.

She made her way towards the family hall to sort out the issue while cursing Raymond inside her head.

She soon entered the family hall and sat on the family head seat. She looked around the hall at all the gathered people.

"Elder Bert, please present your case." She told the disciplinary elder of the family.

"Yes, Madam Rachel. According to Grandmaster Vincent, he was attacked by young master Raymond's maid Jasmine this evening, there are bruise marks on his body that does indicate that he was attacked. He also has Allen Clover as the prime witness for this incident…." The elder reported everything he knew about the incident.

Meanwhile Grandmaster Vincent and Allen stood on side with puppy dog eyes to make it seem like they were innocent. But Jasmine was standing on the other side with fear in her eyes.

She was extremely scared, she didn't want to attack anyone, it just happened on reflex. But she knew these nobles wouldn't listen to her and just kill her off to close the matter as soon as possible.

She was praying for her master to come quickly and save her.

Rachel took one look at Grandmaster Vincent and realised that he was faking his puppy dog eyes. But she decided against calling him out on his terrible acting.

She just wanted this matter to get over as quickly as possible so she could get back to cursing Raymond and scheming how to make connections with the Imperial family.

But when she saw Jasmine standing there terrified she felt bad for her. After all, she still remembered the day when Thomas brought her home.

'Sigh~ I can't give her a death sentence, she is too innocent to attack someone like that, there must be some reason.'

"Jasmine, tell me did you really attack Grandmaster Vincent?" She raised her eyebrow at Jasmine.

"Madam Rachel, I didn't do it on purpose, it was-"

"Alright, that's enough." She interrupted Jasmine.

'But, too bad she attacked a noble, the only thing I can do to save her is to banish her from the family and give some compensation to Grandmaster Vincent or else he will go whining to the Imperial family about injustice.' She thought inwardly.

'Damn it, whoever made the rule that commoners should be executed for attacking nobles must be rotting in hell right now.'

She cursed in her mind and proceeded to give her verdict.

Meanwhile Vincent was smiling inside his head, even though he didn't manage to get any proof about Raymond's evil sorcery, he managed to get Jasmine under the executioner's blade.

'Just you wait, brat. I will come after you next, after I take care of your maid.' He thought sinisterly.

"Since Jasmine a commoner has attacked a noble of the House Clover, she will be ban-"

"Stop right there, what do you think you are doing?" She was interrupted by the loud and obnoxious voice of Raymond, at least that's how his voice sounded to her right now, because the thing she hated the most apart from dealing with idiots was being interrupted while talking.

But to Jasmine, it felt like music to her ears, her face blossomed into a huge smile when she saw Raymond standing there at the entrance with anger in his eyes.

Rachel was startled when she saw Raymond there, she felt a pressure on her soul when she looked into his eyes.

As soon as Raymond saw Vincent and Allen together along with what he had heard from the servants on his way here, he understood the whole situation.

Vincent and Allen felt like they were being stared down by a deadly beast which was about to pounce on its prey when they saw Raymond.

"Ahem, your maid has attacked a noble, I am giving my verdict, how dare you barge in here and interrupt me?" Rachel shook off the weird feeling she felt from Raymond and shouted at him.

She was already angry with him and this just added fuel to the fire.

"What kind of nonsense is this? You probably didn't even ask why she attacked him, because of some shitty rules made by nobles." Raymond sneered.

Rachel was enraged by his words. Her anger over Raymond overtook her rational thinking.

"Hmph, I was just thinking about banishing her from the family, now not only her, you are also ban-"

"Stop right there, what do you think you are doing?" She was once again interrupted by the voice of Victor who had rushed here following after Raymond.

'These two fuckers, they are deliberately messing with me.' Rachel's face darkened after being interrupted again.
