Meiying's First Ever Public Humiliation.

Meiying's anticipation for her engagement party was brimming with excitement. It was a grand affair, everything a young lady could have dreamed of. Xuejian and his family had put an incredible amount of effort into making it truly spectacular.

Feeling overwhelmed by the constant stream of questions from both familiar and unfamiliar guests regarding her relationship with Xuejian and the story of their love, Meiying decided to step outside for some fresh air. She had grown tired of fabricating lies to satisfy everyone's curiosity. After all, she couldn't possibly reveal the truth behind their contract marriage to the entire gathering. Seeking solace, she found herself in the garden near a fountain adorned with a graceful swan statue. The beauty surrounding her, from the vibrant flowers to the lush greenery and the moonlight reflecting upon the tranquil water, left Meiying utterly mesmerized. She inhaled deeply, taking in the refreshing air, realizing it would be a while before she returned to the festivities.

To her surprise, a woman in her late forties approached her with a warm smile.

"You must be Meiying. How do you do?" the woman greeted her.

"I'm doing well. And you?" Meiying beamed with genuine joy, her excitement still apparent.

"I'm Feng Qingyun," the woman introduced herself.

Meiying bowed politely. "Nice to meet you."

Feng Qingyun's expression turned into a smirk. "It could have been nice, but since you're married to Wang Xuejian, it can't be," she said, her tone dripping with disdain. Meiying's confusion was clearly etched upon her face.

"I know you've already met my daughter, Feng Qingting," Feng Qingyun continued.

Meiying puzzled for a moment before recalling the woman living in Xuejian's house who shared the same name. Meiying had asked Xuejian about her during her previous encounters, but he had evaded the question, leaving her to wonder why the lady was residing there with him.

Meiying nodded. "Yes, I have."

"Myself and Xuejian's father had plans for them to be together, but then you came along and ruined everything," Feng Qingyun spat out, her disdain intensifying.

"Xuejian never mentioned someone else in his life to me," Meiying defended herself.

"Are you serious? You saw my daughter living in this house when you first arrived. Surely, you must have had an idea why a grown woman was residing with an unmarried man," Feng Qingyun exclaimed.

"There are maids in the house as well," Meiying offered, trying to explain away the situation.

"Silence!" Feng Qingyun snapped. "Do the maids even matter? Now, I want you to go back and tell Xuejian that you refuse to continue with this marriage, or else I will make your life miserable!" Her words echoed with a threatening tone.

Fear gripped Meiying as she contemplated running in the opposite direction, but before she could make her escape around the fountain, Mrs. Feng seized her gown and forcefully pushed her into the water with a resounding splash.

Shock and embarrassment flooded Meiying as she emerged from the fountain, her clothes drenched and her composure shattered. Just as she suspected, a few guests spotted her in this pitiable state.

Approaching Meiying with a false sense of concern, Mrs. Feng shifted her tone to one of sympathy. "Darling, how did you slip? You shouldn't be so clumsy. Let me assist you," she said loudly enough for the newly arrived guests to overhear, deceitfully reaching out her hand to Meiying.

Feeling utterly mortified, Meiying evaded her hand, shook her head, and hastily retreated from the scene. She made a solemn promise to herself to avoid Mrs. Feng at all costs. Little did she know, Mrs. Feng would stay true to her word, making Meiying's life a living nightmare. With the added torment of Feng Qingting joining in, Meiying's existence became an unbearable hell on earth.

Meiying retraced her steps from the memory line and to her surprise, she found Mrs. Feng standing remarkably close to her with a glimmer of mirth in her eyes. However, Mrs. Feng's attention quickly shifted towards Du Xinyi, and with a swift movement, she approached the young girl and snatched the phone from her grip. In a fit of frustration, Mrs. Feng forcefully threw the phone onto the ground, causing the screen to crack. Du Xinyi immediately rushed over to inspect the damage.

"Where is Commissioner Zou?" she anxiously questioned the officers nearby.

"He's at the office," a police officer promptly responded, as Mrs. Feng grabbed her son's arm and swiftly disappeared from the scene.

Du Xinyi, on the verge of tears, glanced at her colleagues and lamented, "It's broken."

Sensing her distress, Shi Lin approached and gently patted her back, reassuringly stating, "Just explain what happened to your uncle."

Du Xinyi looked at her in disbelief, retorting, "So that I can get scolded? No thank you."

"I can fix it. Let me take a look," Meiying kindly stepped forward, offering her assistance. She gathered the damaged phone in her hands, promising, "Perhaps by tomorrow or the next day, you can expect it to be repaired."

Du Xinyi's face instantly brightened with gratitude, and she embraced Meiying tightly in appreciation.

"Shall we go now? I'm famished," Yang Mei interrupted, her stomach releasing an audible growl, causing Zeng Wei and Mrs. Yang to share a laugh.

Meiying turned to Jingyi and asked, "Aren't you coming?"

"You go ahead. I'll find my way back home," Jingyi replied, her gaze lingering on Detective Xu.

Meiying smiled, aware of Jingyi's feelings for Detective Xu. If it weren't for her rebirth, she may have been clueless, but having lived this life before, she knew about the budding love between them. She vividly remembered that during her previous existence, when she had received a police officer's role to act, Jingyi had taken her to the detective instead of a police officer. From that moment on, Meiying had witnessed the blossoming romance between the childhood friends. In her past life, before her untimely demise, they had already begun dating.

Meiying, along with the others, embarked on a bus journey to Mrs. Yang's restaurant nestled in a local neighborhood. The establishment, neither excessively small nor overwhelmingly large, exuded a welcoming ambiance. With two diligent employees fervently tending to the customers, Mrs. Yang graciously guided them upstairs, where Meiying presumed to be her living quarters alongside her daughter.

Seated on soft cushions arranged in front of a low table, Meiying settled herself comfortably. Meanwhile, Yang Mei and Shi Lin accompanied Mrs. Yang to the bustling kitchen, while Zeng Wei and Du Xinyi joined Meiying at the low table.

"Did you record everything that happened at the police station?" Meiying inquired, turning to Du Xinyi.

"Record? She actually livestreamed it," Zeng Wei interjected, causing Meiying's jaw to drop in astonishment.

Du Xinyi chuckled, "Yes, I have around six thousand followers, so perhaps they will share it all over the internet. I truly miss my phone now; I could be receiving comments by now!"

"Someone has already posted it on Miss Meiying's fan base," Zeng Wei revealed, displaying the evidence on his phone.

"She's married, so she should be addressed as Mrs. instead of Miss," Du Xinyi corrected, though Zeng Wei merely shrugged it off.

As Meiying watched the video and envisioned gaining more fans due to its content, she glanced at the children beside her and contemplated for a moment. "If there was someone who could grant you anything, what would you like to have?" she asked Du Xinyi and Zeng Wei.

"A new phone," Du Xinyi promptly replied, while Zeng Wei shook his head. Then, noticing Meiying's questioning gaze fixed on him, he let out a sigh. "I don't want anything. My only wish is for the school's spring festival to be a success."

"You truly don't need anything?" Meiying clarified.

"He doesn't. His father owns the Zeng Online Travel Agency, and his father even sponsored our disastrous school trip once," Du Xinyi explained.

"I told you, I despise sea planes," Zeng Wei retorted.

Meiying laughed in amusement, "What about Shi Lin and Du Xinyi?"

"I'm unsure about Shi Lin; she seldom expresses her thoughts. As for Yang Mei, all she yearns for is her crush to reciprocate her feelings," Du Xinyi stated, glancing at Zeng Wei.

"I still can't fathom why she refuses to disclose his identity to me," Zeng Wei mused, causing Du Xinyi to shake her head in response.

Meiying chuckled softly, entertained by their conversations, but before she could inquire further, the doorbell chimed, and Yang Mei rushed out of the kitchen to attend to the visitor.

"Grandpa!" Yang Mei joyfully exclaimed, enveloping the elderly man in a warm embrace as he entered the premises.

The elderly man smiled as he looked around the living room, immediately spotting Meiying, "Mistress, how..." he couldn't finish his sentence because of how surprised he was by Meiying's presence.

"Good day Butler Yang, you never told me you had a daughter and also a granddaughter as well" Meiying said but Butler Yang continued to stare at her in surprise.

First, let's talk about Du Xinyi. She is quite the talkative individual, always ready to engage in a cheerful conversation.

Zeng Wei, on the other hand, is like the younger version of Xuejian.

Yang Mei is a girl with a strong combat spirit. Her determination and resilience make her an excellent fighter.

Lastly, we have Shi Lin, a seemingly closed-off girl. However, beneath her reserved exterior lies a passionate and caring individual.
