Chapter 6- Cheater?

Vincent logged off Rise Online after playing for a couple of hours. He needed to eat to replenish his energy and also sleep.

He lived alone in a tiny apartment, and didn't have fancy food to eat. Vincent lived with as little as possible, firstly he needed to start making money with the game, and then think about buying stuff.

The microwave sound annoyed the hell out of Vincent, but microwaved pizza was the only thing he had. He decided to scroll down the game forum while eating, reading all the different things players said about him.

"The Seer is my idol. He's the best player." said a user named SeerPleaseMarryMe.

"Damn. I have a girl fan base? That's awesome."

Well, there was also bad things about him, usually said by male.

"This Seer is surely a cheater. I already emailed the game company and they said that they would investigate."

"I agree. There is no way he's playing honest. Everyone is level 1 and he's already level 3? That's bullshit," another one commented.

Vincent found it funny. The players were thinking that he was cheating.

"Imagine when I accomplish the things I plan to. The server will go mad."

There was also some useful information within the forum. It appeared that the famous guild HellFlame had discovered a boss already, and they planned to kill it as soon as possible.

"A guild?" Back in his old life Vincent was a solo player. Well, he only played with his friend Nate, who was also a solo player. They teamed up when there was a mission impossible to be completed alone, and also when they needed to kill bosses. Vincent knew that this was the reason he didn't climb any further in the rankings. One needed to be part of a guild in this game. The dungeons needed to be completed, and usually required a party. Vincent didn't plan on joining a guild in this life either. He decided to create one.

"I don't like to play by rules, which means that I'll need to be the guild leader and create my own."

Official guild creation would be unlocked at level 10, when players reached the big cities. Vincent planned to use his fame to invite players to his guild. That was the only way people would join an unknown guild. But for that to happen, Vincent needed to be the first player to reach level 10, and he also needed to maintain his top spot at the rankings.

"I need to reach level 5 and get that unique shape-shifting skill."

In Vincent's past life, a player named LoneWolf found out a secret in one of the starting areas. LoneWolf was already at a higher level when he found that out, but it was still a shocking event in Rise Online.

There was a forest near the starting areas that had some lore behind it. Some say that it was once the lair of the legendary elves, but no one had proved it, until LoneWolf arrived.

It was called The Moonlight Forest. They named it because of how beautiful it was at night time. The way LoneWolf found out its secret was quite funny actually. He was known to be the type of player who looted everything, not caring about his bag slots. One day, he decided to help out his friend that had just started to play the game. They were adventuring in the Moonlight Forest, when a magical deer appeared out of nowhere, triggering the quest. LoneWolf said in the forums that one need three specific herbs in the inventory to trigger it. He decided to share that information, because, well, the quest was unique so it didn't matter. No one else would be able to get that.

"LoneWolf never thought that his information would grant me this huge benefit," Vincent chuckled while putting his game capsule. He decided to not sleep at that moment. There was still a lot of things he needed to do, so sleeping wasn't a priority. He had played Rise for so long that it was common for him to sleep less than normal people.

Soon he found himself at the cave's entrance. It could be a bold move to enter again right away, so he waited a few minutes. Mobs inside Rise had a respawn time, so Vincent wanted to wait until the bats at the beginning of the cave respawned, that way it was almost impossible to encounter that huge bat boss again.

Vincent's hunt began once again. He was level three at that moment, and having used all of his free points into Intelligence and Wisdom made his Fireball even more deadly. The Nighteye Bats didn't stand a chance, being turned into ashes.

"I'm level 4 now. I think it's finally time for me to sleep. Tomorrow I'll get level 5 and go find the herbs for that mysterious quest," with that happy thought Vincent logged off again. He didn't know that there was someone watching his every move, hidden behind the trees near the cave entrance.

"Maybe he's the one?" said the mysterious shadow.
