Reborn as The Strongest Mage

Rise was the game everyone played, even the elderly. Launched in 2084, it became an instant success worldwide, and it was more than a simple game. It was also a job. People could earn real-life money from it, and for the youth Vincent, it was no different. Vincent started to play on day one. He had chosen the Mage class and did quite well with it, achieving the top 100 mages of the entire server. Things were getting better year after year. He had all the money he needed, gifting a house for his family, a car, and improving their lives overall. Well, unfortunately, it went downhill. Vincent was not that good with finances, so he hired a manager. He couldn't possibly know that the guy would steal from him, and not only that, he was also stabbed while throwing a party at his apartment. You can call it a miracle, or even destiny, but the fact was that Vincent got another chance at life, reborn on the day Rise launched, and he was going to use that chance to become number one, and of course, found out the bastard who killed him. Help me out in Ko Fi if you can, I'll really appreciate, if you do, just message me I'll reward you somehow. https://ko-fi.com/zzanzz

Chapter 13 - Sage's Apprentice

The village was crowded as usual. Vincent's next goal was to leave that crowded place and be the first player to reach the city. And for that, he couldn't keep killing monster the same level as him, that would cost him a lot of time.

Now that he was already level 5, it was time also time to visit the Mage Tutor and get more spells. The spells would be basic as the player had to find the better spells around the world, but he needed it. Vincent only had the Fireball, and when it was in cooldown, he couldn't do a thing.

Finding the location wasn't difficult for Vincent. He knew where it was, but even if he didn't, the place had a sign saying Mage Tutor, pretty obvious.

Despite the awesome sign, the place didn't look so great. It was made of wood, some parts were falling down and it wasn't that big too. Everyone expected that as it was a poor village after all.

Vincent walked in, and a old man was standing at a corner, looking like it was drunk.

"Huh, another visitor? The test is closed, every mage in this village is dog shit." the old man said. He wore a long mage tunic, and held a strange book in his waist. He had a long white beard, a typical mage.

"Oh sir I'm the strongest mage, so you can hand me the test and I'll for sure complete it."

Vincent knew some things about this test. Every mage could buy skills from that old man without needing to take or pass this test, but if you did, you would get some rewards.

The test was extremely hard. It had more than one phase. The first was at the beginning village and the other at the city. It wasn't the end though, Vincent had completed the two tests back in his previous life but had never found the third. Some rumors said that a player managed to complete all of them, and he was, precisely, the rank 1 mage. The reward he was given, some say it was a hidden class, but he never shared that information.

"Hahahaha. The strongest mage? Come on brat, take this test. Now I want to see what you can do," the old man got up and went to a small table. The table was a mess, piles and piles of papers everywhere. The man was searching for something, and eventually he found it.

"Oh it's here. Brat, this is the most difficult test here, I want to see if your skills backup this pride of yours."

[New Quest Added]

[Magicians test]

Description: the old man seemed pissed about the things you said, so he gave you a different test than the others.

Objective: complete the test.

Difficulty: SS ]

"Hey what is this? That never happened. The last time I did this test it showed only a B difficulty." Vincent was shocked, but he also understood what happened. He already knew that but the other players who just started the game probably don't. NPCs were vivid. They had their life stories and they would grant the player different Quests based on the way you talk to them. Of course that wasn't the only thing that mattered. Rise had a reputation system, and having better reputation meant more opportunities.

"Running from the test already? Where's your pride young man?" the old man laughed.

"Damn it. Give this to me old man and just watch."

Vincent took the test and a pen and went to one old wooden table.

The test was kinda of bullshit. Even the rank B one. It had questions about the history of magic in the continent, and also about spells symbols, spell creation theory and other things. A new player would never know these things, so basically everyone just took the test after they played a lot of the game.

This time Vincent noticed that the test had more questions, and it was more complex. After reading all of it, he sighed in relief. It was complex but it was still in the scopes of his abilities, so it was all good.

Vincent took the pen and started to answer all of the questions. It would take some time to complete it, and Vincent noticed that the old man was standing there, watching him.

He was so focused on answering the test that he didn't notice how astonished the old man was. And a spark of admiration could be seen in his eyes.

"Is this brat the reincarnation of the God Of Magic himself? How does he know these things being so young." he couldn't believe it, Vincent was just too good.

"Here old man, take it. You don't even need to read, it's all correct." Vincent gave the test, and waited.

The old man was startled. Some things Vincent answered were unknown to even him, and it did clear out some doubts he had for years.

He then looked towards Vincent, and said.

"My name is Dillian, what's yours?" Dillian said gently, smiling to Vincent.

"I'm Vincent."

"Vincent. Your knowledge about magic is extraordinary. It is a fact that you are the best mage to ever take the test. I'll give you some rewards. First, I think you should look for my master, The Sage. He's missing, even I don't know where he is, but you should also look for him. I've never seen someone as talented as you. My master in one of the best mages, I'm sure he would be happy to have you."

"The Sage.." Vincent pondered.

The Sage was a extraordinary figure inside Rise's lore. It was said that he was basically the strongest mage amongst the human race. A Quest related to him would surely be awesome.

"Holy shit. This Title is overpowered." Vincent laughed.

He got rewarded with a hint towards probably another Main Quest, and also a overpowered title, he couldn't ask for more.

"There's another test in the city. I hope you take that one as well. I'll be waiting for you." Dillian said, casting then a blink and vanishing.

"HEEYYY OLD MAN. I DIDN'T BUY MY SPELLS YET!!!!" Vincent was mad.

"Heyy down yell brat. Dillian isn't in charge of selling the spell tomes, I'm." both Vincent and the merchant facepalmed together...
