Preparing for a journey

A week passed, and while Adam wasn't busy dealing with the diplomatic hellhole the community had become, he was practicing his newfound powers.

Adam now sat in his throne room, since here he felt the most connected to his powers.

The opulent throne which he sat on was, indeed, as awe-inducing as ever. Doing more than enough to show the power of the Empire

Taking a deep breath and exhaling every last bit of air in his lungs, Adam allowed his spirit to spread itself around the room, an impressive feat for a newlyborn psychic, although Adam was unaware of such a thing.

*Badum* *Badum*

Adam could only describe this feeling as strange. Felt every heartbeat in the entire Imperium all beating in synch, all of them funneling their power to him.

He felt like the heart of some vast and powerful organism, and while it did feed him immense power as he felt every bit of strength the "body" had in it flow through him, being in this state also made him incredibly tired.

Like the heart in the human body, he had to put in immense work every beat, literaly powering the whole system singlehandedly.

On his own. Without any help.

The power he got in return while in this state was however very much worth it, he never felt such power in his veins in either of his lives, not even when he saw red in front of his eyes did he feel this strong and focused.

He felt like he could lift the entire Imperial Palace if he wanted to, and that's not an overstatement.

Physically, his brain worked faster, so much so that he felt dumb whenever he didn't use his ability like he just got dementia levels of dumb.

His muscles were flooded with power, he felt like he was more than twice as strong, and considering he already defied the human limits before, he wouldn't be surprised if he could lift a quarter of an elephant if not more.

(For reference, that's around 2000 kg, so Adam is four times stronger than the strongest man on Earth today.)

Needless to say, Adam refused to touch or interact with someone while in this state, since he could accidentally break every inch of their body on accident like one punch man.

And while it would be funny to add a whole new meaning to the word fisting, he preferred not to, although it would be funny...

...Well some alien will eventually volunteer as tribute, so he would bring the joke to life eventually.

Adam felt a throbbing pain in his head and chest all of a sudden, the heartbeats around started to speed up or slow down getting out of rhythm and causing a domino effect to ensue.

Adam quickly took a sharp breath in, and as he did, the heartbeats stopped, and so did his power cease to be.

Adam promptly left the throne room after stabilizing himself, he couldn't just let the secret slip yet.

Indeed, Adam has not spread the news around the Imperium yet, since having civilians armed with powers that are affected by their emotional state would no doubt result in disaster.

He has faith in his citizens, but dumb fucks still exist. Like cockroaches, they will simply not die out.

Hence, Adam is gonna personally travel around the Imperium and try to locate talented espers using his abilities, which shouldn't be too difficult.

Already, here on Earth, He recruited around five thousand talented espers, which is very little considering that the population of Earth is now 10 Billion people.

Well, only the best of the best are allowed to be on Earth too, so the outer planets are probably gonna be even worse off.

Additionally, there were also of course talented children, however, Adam didn't take those under his wing yet. Instead, he assigned some agents to them, tasking them to make their lives easier or more difficult as needed so that they would go under Adams' wing independently.

Soldiers who choose to fight are always more dependable than the ones who are forced to fight, so Adam will let them live their childhood.

There is also the matter of the AIs, which is still ongoing, so Adam will have to make this trip quick, as quick as possible anyway considering he's gonna be traveling an unfathomable distance.

"Well, the AIs are useful at least..." They are for expansion anyway.

Since the new federation or union or however you wish to refer to it has been established, war between nations in the Orion Arm has completely ceased, since now the entire arm would automatically get involved, which would be a huge headache for any nation seeking expansion.

Now that the aggressive AIs are expanding, if they destroy a few nations, no one is gonna mind if Adam takes that space since it no longer belongs to anyone.

Of course, Adam would rather simply help the nations survive, and they could bend the knee to him, giving him even greater benefits and saving more lives, although Adam does have a distinct lack of empathy towards the Xenos, something which is common across a good part of humanity.

"everyone else is also away on a family trip." Serena wanted to reconnect with her son and his wife, so they all went away to some exotic world "nearby."

...As Adam wandered down the corridors, he remembered about Lucie.

Adam quickly made a note to visit her, which should be fairly easy, as she is in the nearest world where aliens are allowed to settle.

She even has her large group of explorers, last time Adam has seen her was during negotiations with said group.

She has certainly become a leader of her kind, and an important figure, reconecting their friendship would be good for the Imperium, and Adam recognized that aside from his soldiers, he didn't have any friends.

Hence he will try to meet people during this field trip, maybe someone will catch his eye.
