Chapter 16: The Brown family

While Amy and Elizabeth were sharing their heartfelt words other side Laura was fuming with anger. Her room was a complete mess. She was throwing a tantrum.

Listening to the craziest voice from their young miss room one of the maids informs the Madam that is Laura's mother Mila. She was currently pleasing her husband Mark Brown in the room when the maid knocked on the door.

Mila stood up and opened the room door, "What?" She was pissed off.

The maid looked at the pissed lady, despite her age in forties she still maintains her glamour and did not look old. The maid took a peek at the master who looks displeased as his ambitious moment was ruined he did not look like in his fifties but appears to be stopped at a young period. "What are you here for?" Mila asked again.

"Madam, the young miss is throwing a tantrum in her room," the maid said.

Mila raised her eyebrows in annoyance when will this silly kid be able to stop behaving like a child. "Just let it be!" Mila said angrily and then she slammed the door in frustration.

It was very rare for her husband to be interested in her but she was intruded so she was mad at the maid. The maid was left in shock, she did not believe that the parents did not care about their child.

Later at night, at the dining table, there were three people of brown family eating quietly. The daughter Laura was facing her parents. Her mother was acting coquettishly with her father.

"Laura, I heard you are having your childish tempers again?" Mila gave her a displeased look if her daughter can be good as a son why her husband will cheat her. "Don't act like that in public, you should help your father in the future if you do that it will bring shame to our family." Mila is not hopeful towards her daughter but she cannot get pregnant whatever means she tries with a son.

Laura did not condemn her mother but garnished her teeth, ever since her mother knows about her father's affairs she does everything to attain her father's attention even behaving like a young lad.

Just because her mother cannot give birth to a son. Then she took a glance at her father, who is not at least affected by this having a neutral attitude towards mom behaving like an emperor. His silence was an agreement with her mother's words.

Sometimes Laura wonders if she was their child or illegitimate one. They did not bother to pay attention to her nor loved her, spoil her as other parents do after dad's affair. The love she uses to have in childhood, she thought was it all fake before.

"So, what was the reason for your tantrum?" Mila asked. There's a hint of joy in Laura's eye. Was her mom concerned about her affair after a long time?

"The successor of the Smith family made a joke out of me. Acting like a commoner and humiliate me with the help of her aunt of the Green family, Amy Green. Due to her, Amy Green blacklisted me from entering any of the Green family business" In Laura tone, all the blame was transferred to Elizabeth. She hated her.

Mila and Mark stopped eating and looked at Laura. The topic piqued their interest, they were full of seriousness. "Smith Family and Green Family?" her father asked. Laura nodded she was hoping that their parents would stand on her side as she was the only child, but her expectation was all in vain.

"What..!! Are you mad?" her mother said pointing Laura angrily.

"Apologize to them quickly, we have already advised you to befriend her but what did you do. Huh!" Mark scoffs. He was right at not expecting something from this daughter. She was just stupid, not adequate.

Laura was angered. She cannot apologize to Elizabeth it will ruin her pride and reputation. She never bows to anyone. "Why should I?" she said raising her voice.

"Are you stupid Laura? Don't you get what we have said to you to be in a good list of her, that's why we are transferring you to her class. You cannot even do that" her mother said stating the fact.

Laura was astonished by her mother's report reprimanding words her mother never speak to her like this. But then again, mom said right she had offended Smith and the Green family. The two prestigious families in the country.

Her mom also said that her distant cousin who was a top businessman can also marry the Smith family Miss that way they will become more influential, she thinks if she becomes the lady of Green maybe she will be an advantage that Elizabeth has. She can also suppress Elizabeth by having a title bigger than her in a relationship.

Laura nods towards their parents with that thought in her mind. She was already planning inwardly to become Madam green ordering others.

Mark grinned inwardly, at last, his daughter finally understand her family situation. Mark has become greedy and arrogant having a connection with a big family and want more over the years. Mark had done everything to become a wealthy person.

He didn't just get satisfied with what he got and want to snatch more from others. This type of attitude can only lead to a miserable end but he didn't think about that.
