Chapter 16: Ambushed

The bet was done and Zach was no longer Kovu's assistant. He is currently enjoying his free in his apartment.

"A book,peaceful surroundings and a fresh milk with koko crunch-

Zach was interrupted by a huge noise.

"What was that" he thought.

He immediately check it outside and it was in front of his apartment. He noticed that the door was open.

When he got in the room was a mess. He checked the room and kitchen but no one was there.

He decided to check in the bathroom and found a woman lying on the floor, its not just a woman but Dr. Lyre.

Zach didn't mind being wet and carry her into the sofa. He look for a cloth but only revealing night wears can be found. Hesitating but managed to strip off the woman he was stunned for a moment.

"What are you doing?" Lyre said in a low voice.

Zach was snap into reality and immediately clothed her. That was a great holding back he has ever done in his life. He notice a wound in her shoulder and look at it.

Lyre lost her consciousness again and Zach moved her to the bed.

He noticed a lot of wounds in her back some are cuts. Where the heck did she get this.

Confusion was written in his face.

"You're a doctor and can't even take care of yourself." He said and started cleaning the wounds and putting ointments in her back.

Lyre shivered with coldness and grab Zach unconsciously.

Zach noticed the woman has stayed calm in his chest. He can't bare not to look at her.

Hours later, zach was awakened by a strong grip in the arms. It was Lyre crying while asleep.

"No! Stop! mom! Dad! Don't leave me!"

Zach saw lyre crying so hard and he immediately calm her.

"Hey lyre wake up, its just a nightmare hey!" As he tap her cheeks.

Lyre was gasping for air and her face was sweating she saw zach's worried face beside her.

"Zach, I'm scared."

Zach hugged her and kiss lyre's forehead.

"I'm here everything's fine."

She felt comfortable when zach was beside her which makes her fell asleep.

On the other side Luna was so bothered to left Lyre alone but the woman was so hard headed so she decided to head back and just visit her tomorrow morning.

She is preparing the food she cooked for Jeux. The man was still busy cat hunting but it was expected for luna.

Jeux arrived and spoke.

"You're back."

"Yeah, did you eat already? I prepared some." Luna replied.

"Just in time I haven't eaten at all"

They eat in peace none of them had spoken at all which makes jeux confused with luna's attitude.

"Baby are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm just worried with my close friend. She's sick right now." Luna said without any expressions at all.

Jeux seems to notice something was not right with luna.

"Just leave your plates I'll clean this up. I know you're tired." Jeux said looking at her.

Luna nods at him and went up into the bedroom.

Jeux was still not comfortable with luna's attitude something was not right. He decided to call Kovu to ask some advice. He might be a lady magnet but he has no idea at all he just use women for pleasure and fun.

Except for luna he never treated her that way. Well maybe, he has mistakes too with his actions and wrongdoings.

(What are you calling at I'm busy I need to get back home early and check my wife so spill it out.) kovu said directly.

When did this guy become talkative? jeux thought.

"Dude, luna seems different today she is not talking at me. Her expressions are somehow cold and strange."

(Really, good for her she's now fed up with your game jeux. I'll be supporting her with that.) kovu said amusingly.

Jeux felt scared with that thought.

"Do you think luna was really fed up with me?" Jeux said stuttering.

(Are you that dumb jeux? If my guess was right, I bet luna was already thinking to leave you behind and start a life with someone much better and worth it) Kovu said seriously.

"That is never gonna happen." Jeux replied in a hard tone.

(It won't be always you Jeux, time will come you'll regret leaving your chances.) Kovu warned him and drop the call.

Kovu's words were stuck in Jeux mind.

He walks into the bedroom and saw luna sleeping peacefully.

"Are you really gonna leave me?" He said in a low voice while staring at luna.

He sighed.

Morning came luna notice Jeux was not in the bed she sighed, he might be cuddling again with another woman.

When she does her routine and walks out in the bedroom, Jeux was already waiting for her in the dinning area.

"Good morning baby how's your sleep?"

"Its fine, your not busy today?" Luna said.

"Not at all, I'm bringing you to my grandfather's place today." He said.

Luna was confused in years with being with him, he never brought her to his family nor anything. Besides luna knows her place she never asked for much.

"I'm busy I need to look after my friend and Jeux don't disappoint your grandfather with assumptions. Just me is fine but your family that is different already." Luna said seriously.

Jeux was stunned with Luna's words.

She doesn't expect anything good at her or more for him luna knows her place. Which makes her misunderstood Jeux actions.

"Baby its not like that, I really wanted to let my family know you." Jeux said.

"Yeah right, we've been together for years Jeux and now is the time you thought of introducing me with your family? And then what jeux? You know who you are and what you does. So will you excuse me, I reject your offer staying with you is enough. Can you respect my dignity Jeux? I don't want anyone looking at me pitiful. Especially you who just stayed with me out of pity." Luna said and walks out of the house.

Jeux was speechless, Luna was right. He is a freaking jerk for making her feel more what is her place.

Luna's tears runs down when she got out. She composed herself and spoke.

"This is what you are fighting for luna, this is what you choose to live face it." She said to herself.

She wiped her tears and drove with her car into Lyre's apartment.

As she was walking near to Lyre's room she notice the door was open. Luna pulls out her gun and slowly checked the living room and kitchen.

The place was a mess she Immediately run into lyre's bedroom and kicked the door to open.

Zach was asking lyre if she's fine, she brought a breakfast in her bed.

The door suddenly slammed and a woman burst out holding a gun pointing at him.

He acted raising her hand and grab the gun but the woman was furious and turn herself around Zach and do an elbow attack on his stomach which makes Zach retreat in pain.

Lyre was snap with the situation and spoke.

"Luna stop! That's Zach he took care of me while you're gone."

Luna stopped and grab her gun.

"Sorry." She said looking at zach.

"Damn, I wasn't ready for that." Zach said.

"Are you okay Zach?" Lyre said.

"No worries and what the heck is the gun for?" Zach said looking at luna.

"Its fine I'm licensed for this." Luna said.

"Its to early to-

Luna signed them to keep quite and look at lyre with a meaningful look.

Lyre took out the gun under her mattress and a scalpel.

"Hold this Zach someone's here." Lyre said in a slow voice.

"Are you kidding me? Who the hell are you two?" He said and holds the gun.

"Down!" Luna shouted.

Lyre rolls together with zach and goes in the side bet while a rain of bullets were attacking them.

The moment it stop Luna rolled outside and kick them to be out of balance.

She shoot all of them.

A bomb was planted in the area already in the room.

Luna ran towards them and shouted.

"Jump in the window! There is a pool under!"

As they jump out breaking the window they fell with a big splash in the pool.

Good timing as the apartment was blowed into pieces.

"Is everyone's okay?" Luna said getting out of the pool.

"We're fine, what the hell was that!" Zach said in frustration.

"Lets get out of here first." Luna said.

They followed her into the parking lot.

Lyre wasn't quite well too knowing she is still injured.

"Do you have a spare phone?" Zach said.

"Here that's Jeux spare phone." Luna replied.

(Calling Kovu...)

"Bro we were ambushed we'll be heading in your place. Luna and Dr. Lyre was with me."

(Got it.) kovu said

"Head into Kovu's place." Zach said.

"Not yet, someone's following us." Luna replied.

"Drive the car zach." Luna said and moves into the back.

She opened the back chair and a Knights SR-25 carbine was shown.

The other car moved and bump their back the enemy started shooting at them while driving.

Luna sighted in the driver and shoot. It was hit in the head which makes the enemies car out of the road.

"Drive fast!" Luna exclaimed while hitting the 2nd car and hit its tires to stop.

"Damn!"

Zach click his wrist to connect with his comrades.

"We need back up! I repeat we need back up 3 cars are following us!" Zach shouted.

(On the way good, thing I was traveling around) Renj replied.

"Zach down!" Lyre shouted.

A bullet has passed by in the side.

(Is that lyre??) Airen exclaimed.

"Luna and lyre is with me so you guys kick your ass in here!" Zach replied.

A helicopter appeared and Renj was sitting holding a riffle.

The place was near the ocean which is only a one way road, so it started to get difficult for them to move the car they might fall by the curve road.

A rain of bullets could be hear at there back. The two cars bumped and the other one was about to hit them.

Zach moved the wheels to avoid it.

The car falls with a loud crash making them feel at ease.

They head into kovu's place immediately.
