All Might’s Appearance

The next day was our first Foundational Hero Studies class. I was sketching the scenery outside on my notebook as I waited for class to start.

"Good morning, Rey! Thank you for healing my finger yesterday. I was meaning to thank you yesterday, but I wasn't able to find you." Izuku greeted me.

"Don't worry about it. Just happy to see that you're alright now."

The bell rang, and Izuku took his seat before Tenya, the guy wearing glasses, could start yelling at him.

"I am coming through the door like a normal person!" All Might burst through the room. I nearly snapped the lead of my pencil. So loud.

"Wow! It really is All Might."

"He really is teaching here!"

"That costume is from the silver age right?"

I saw Izuku sit up straighter. He was shaking. Another fan-boy. I'm not one to judge but Izuku's enthusiasm is probably border-line obsession.

All Might walked to the podium. "I teach Basic Hero Training. It is a subject where you train in the different ways of being a hero. Today, we will be doing… Combat training!"

Everyone started buzzing in excitement. All Might might not be my favorite hero, but I did like some action.

"The school had you submit ideas for your costume and details that you would like included. Now, change into your costumes and meet me at Ground Beta!"

The wall in the back of the classroom started to slide outwards. A total of 20 suitcases were stored in the cubbies.

I put my notebook away into my backpack and stood up. I lazily stretched and strolled over to get my costume.

I liked my costume. Whoever put it together did a good job. It was simple, just how I liked it. The material was flexible and tough, but it was also light and easy to move in. I had asked for the costume to include an automatic cooling system to help counteract my Quirk's side effect of overheating. I checked if they had included knifes in my sleeves. They had. I nodded in satisfaction.

Looking around, I saw that most of the class had assembled in front of the building. A green, rabbit-like costume caught my attention. Even his costume looks like All Might. It's Izuku, no doubt about it.

"It's time for combat training! For today's class, you will be split into groups of two and split into hero and villain roles. The villains' task is to guard a nuclear weapon, and the heroes must stop them within the time limit. If the heroes capture the villains or come into contact with the nuclear core before the end of the round, they win. If the villains keeps the nuclear weapon safe or manage to catch the heroes before the time limit, they will be the victors." All Might explained the content of the competition.

"Sensei! How will the groups be split up?" Tenya, the guy with glasses, questioned.

"Young Ida! Do not worry. I will be explaining the process right now. Each of you will come up and draw lots. You will be paired with the person with the same number. Those who drew an red, even number will be the villains. Those who drew an blue, odd number will be the heroes." All Might flashed his trademark smile at Tenya. Tenya immediately apologized for speaking out of line.

I drew my lot. A blue number 3. I looked around to find my partner. I saw Momo waving at me; she was holding another blue 3. I gave a small wave back and walked over to join her.

"Hello, Momo." I greeted her.

"Good morning, Rey! Look's like we're going to be heroes today. I look forward to working with you!" Momo smiled at me.

"Likewise."

The first battle passed without a hitch. It was the alien-looking girl Mina and stomach laser Aoyama versus the sugar-eating Sato and the mute Koda. Mina and Aoyama took the victory. Mina did well, taking care of the two opponents while carefully controlling her Quirk to do as little damage as possible.

The second battle was pure domination. Shoto froze the entire building, freezing both Ojiro and Toru onto the floor. Then, Shoto and Shoji were able to capture the nuclear weapon without any hinderance. All Might praised Shoto on his performance, and the rest of the class all were excited to see how strong Shoto was. Rey was impressed by Shoto's control of his Quirk, but he thought that Shoji also deserved some praise.

Rey silently walked over to Shoji. "Hey, good job. If you haven't told Shoto their location, Shoto wouldn't have been able to froze them so quickly. I know it doesn't seem like much, but you did really well, too."

"You're Rey, right? Thank you for your words." Shoji looked at the boy. He turned his head at the projecting screen. "You're going next. Good luck."

"Thank you."

"So we're up against Momo and Rey, huh?" Jiro commented. "Do you know what Quirks they have?"

"I think Momo's Quirk has something with creating objects. I saw her create some springs for the physical test last time." Denki said. "I don't know what Rey's is. I haven't seen him use it yet."

"We'll have to be careful then." Jiro murmured.

"Yeah whatever! I'm just gonna rush both of them!" Denki held up a finger gun. Jiro groaned.

"Do you know what their Quirks are?" Rey asked.

"Denki's is something with electricity. Jiro's is probably sound waves. But those are just my guesses." Momo offered the information she knew. Rey nodded.

"Get ready! The third battle starts now!" All Might's voice boomed from the speakers. Rey and Momo ran into the building.

"We have to find where they're guarding the bomb first. I can create stethoscopes for us to listen through the walls." Momo said as she ran ahead.

"That won't be necessary." Rey answered. Rey had stopped a few feet from the entrance, his face illuminated by the sun's light. Rey's eyes glowed white. "I've already found them."

Rey raised his hand in front of him and made a fist. "Capture!"

Rey started running towards the stairs. "Let's go. They're right above us on the third floor."

"What? How did you already find them?" Momo was stunned but followed after him nevertheless.

Rey ran up the flights of stairs with Momo, and he threw open the door to the room in the third floor. Inside, Denki and Jiro were trapped in two light cubes. Next to the window was the nuclear weapon. Momo walked up unobstructed and touched the bomb with her hand.

"The heroes are victorious! Congratulations to Rey and Momo!" All Might said through the speakers.

Rey released the cubes, and Denki immediately started complaining. "You cheated! How did you know we were here? How did you even attack us? You couldn't even see us!"

Rey ignored the black-yellow haired boy the entire time it took for them to return to the surveillance room.

"Well done, Young Rey and Momo! You did a good job too, Denki and Jiro." All Might greeted the four. "Now, I'm sure everyone is curious on how Rey managed to win. Why don't you explain to them what you did?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Rey. Rey sighed and took a couple steps forward.

"My Quirk allows me to manipulate light particles, so I am very sensitive to any changes in the light. I was able to sense your presence because you chose to position yourselves in a well-lit up room. After I confirmed your locations, it was easy for me to manipulate the particles around you to trap both of you. Because I haven't revealed my Quirk until now, it is very difficult for you to be on guard against my trap. If the two of you had chosen to put the bomb in a dark room, the battle wouldn't have ended so quickly." Rey explained.

"That's right! When your opponent's Quirk is not known, it is important to always be on guard. Of course, it is impossible to consider every single possibility that could happen. So, Denki and Jiro, consider this to be a learning experience and reflect on what you could have done better." All Might patted the two on their shoulder.

"Alright, let's get ready for the next round!"
