Mental energy

This was not because of the sweet taste of the fruit. Instead, when he had chewed the crystal, a pleasant, mysterious but familiar sensation blossomed within him and rushed to his head triggering a slight pain that didn't affect him. Rather, his Mental concentration was boosted!

This was because, the soul crystals contained the soul accumulations of the soul warriors which was absorbed into his own Mental sea once he consumed the crystal. Instantly his concentration standard began climbing at a rate even Xuanyuan found himself astonished of. His mental concentration standard which was only the level of Basic Emperors instantly broke through to Tier 4 Intermediate standard and the improvement won't stop until it reached the pinnacle of Tier 4 intermediate standard.

Xuanyuan was overjoyed at this. Just two soul crystals was enough to give him such benefits. He couldn't think of anything than to begin destroying soul warriors and absorbing their crystals. He might be able to increase his Mental concentration before the trial ended. Now he had nothing to fear since he had means of dealing with them. All he needed was sufficient Mental energy which he do not lack currently.

Xuanyuan acted swiftly and began actively searching for Soul crystals. Now the roles have reversed as the prey is now the predator.

He didn't need to search for long as he encountered three soul warriors before the minute was over. Once they were within Melee range, he sent a wave of sword lights covered in his <True flames> at the Soul creatures dealing a significant damage to their Soul bodies before they could raise their swords.

Without allowing any breathing space, he continued slashing at the three warriors until they dispersed leaving three new Soul crystals which Xuanyuan didn't hesitate to devour. Once again, he experienced a transformation to his Mental sea but he didn't breakthrough which Xuanyuan suspected to be, because his Mental strength wasn't inferior to that of the Soul warriors, so he wouldn't gain as much Mental accumulation as he had gained when he was still of Inferior Mental power.

Xuanyuan didn't relent though. He continued searching for the Soul warriors so he can raise his Mental strength to the Peak of Tier 4 or even Tier 5 Basic standard. With that, he continued fighting and devouring Soul crystals of the Soul warriors.

two days later;

In another dimension, the eight Tier 5 powerhouses sat on their thrones with a solemn expression. They had just learnt of the existence of someone who had the true human bloodline but they had to send him to the unknown dimension the tattered book led him too. Having a true human was undoubtedly one of the greatest things to have happened in years. It meant the next generation was optimistic and the elders could leave in peace. The various races have long since lost their noblest bloodlines to the passage of time and under normal circumstances, Divine beasts like the Dragons were stronger than humans of the same tier. But a true human was rumoured to have the ability to rival a dragon of the same tier even if said dragon is a Divine dragon. In Xuanyuan's case he could even contend against a Dragon emperor without any problem. Now they only had to pray for Xuanyuan's safety or it would be akin to ascending from grass to grace only to plunge back to the grasses...

Meanwhile, in the legacy land which was devoid of Mana as usual, Xuanyuan sat quietly with his legs crossed at the foot of a tree and not far away was a magnificent temple which resembled the Holy temple in Jade spear holy city but radiated an Ancient aura. Xuanyuan suspected that this was probably where the final challenges of the trial in the legacy land lies. But he didn't rush to enter...

During the two days he'd spent in the legacy land, he'd fought tens of Soul warriors with his Mental energy but because he absorbed the Mental energy accumulated in the soul crystals dropped, he wasn't drained and even managed to raise his Mental power to peak tier 4 standard. That was undoubtedly a qualitative transformation as the power of his innate abilities were strengthened as his Mental power soared.

But while batting with his Mental energy, he had discovered something he didn't notice previously. Mental energy could be controlled just like he controlled Mana but controlling the former was more difficult after all players couldn't feel Mental energy unless they used spells that use Mental energy or received a significant damage to their souls.

But fortunately, Xuanyuan's innate abilities were of this category allowing him to perceive this energy he'd never perceived before.

With a thought, Xuanyuan activated the <true flames> causing a ball of flame to manifest in his hands. As he kept the flame running, he could feel a strange energy being devoured from within the depths of his consciousness. But he didn't lose much as his Mental sea had improved by so much and maintaining a ball of flame wasn't going to deplete them anytime soon. This not only allowed to feel his Mental energy, he could also trace their paths and where the source exactly was. This was all he needed to begin his Mental energy training. Without further ado, he began trying to gain control over this energy using the training method he used to gain control over Mana. His attempts failed at first but he learnt from this failures to improve his insights. Now he was gradually gaining control over this Mental energy. He was sure that succeeding would give him massive advantages and benefits so he continued training diligently without minding his consecutive failures.

"I did it!" Xuanyuan exclaimed about two hours hour after he begin training. He gazed at the ball of flames in his hand with excitement...
