Chapter 1: Portal to another world

Erha Realm

In one of the special places in the Erha Realm, a tall Magic Tower that pierces even the tallest sky can be seen

The Tower can make even the tallest mountain blush in shame as their height is too tiny compared to this Mystical Tower

Inside the topmost floor of the Tower, a special magic formation can be seen. The formation was currently floating in mid-air while four blue pillars surrounded it in a diamond formation

Those pillars are connected to the source of mana in this Tower and they are currently supplying the magic formation with as much mana as they can

In front of the magic formation is only one person. He has long black hair that reaches his waist. He was only wearing a simple black colored robe that is open in the middle part, revealing the broad chest and a set of six-packed abs inside

This man is this world's strongest Mage both in the past and the present - Reif Callan. He was hailed as the strongest mage ever born and no one can rival his power

Despite only wearing such a simple robe with no design, the authority that his body is unconsciously emitting was more than enough to make people kneel to him

He has a youthful handsome face that doesn't match his age in the slightest. Reif was staring at the magic formation in front of him. Its colors were already indistinguishable due to the number of colors present in there

Without a warning, his Magic Tower trembled as if a massive earthquake suddenly occurred

Despite the strong shaking movement of the Tower, Reif remained deeply rooted in his position. It was like even the most violent shaking can't shake him off at all

The sudden shaking of the Tower is something that Reif already anticipated. He was currently using all the mana in his Magic Tower to activate the most special magic formation he ever made

This formation is the first in this world and even Reif doesn't know if it will succeed. Just like Reif's environment, the magic formation is also trembling violently with flashes of lightning appearing on it

The sheer amount of mana that Reif is supplying to the formation was not something it can easily handle

Soon, the formation starts emitting raging winds and lightning. The force behind them was so strong it even cracked the ground and walls around

It looks as if it was on the brink of explosion already but Reif won't let that happen

Reif holds out his hands in front of him and forcefully controlled both the immense amount of mana he supplied to the formation and the magic formation itself

The formation itself calmed down a bit and it won't explode as easily as before. However, aside from the magic formation, the things around it weren't as lucky

The raging winds and flashes of lightning turned stronger and wreak havoc inside the special room

The durable walls and ground started breaking apart but Reif doesn't care about them. No matter how much money or resources he needs to sacrifice, he needs to make this formation work. His future will depend on it!

Reif's long hair fluttered as uses all of his power to maintain the formation while ignoring other things. He can feel that he will succeed soon and he was proven correct when the formation fully calmed down. The chaotic group of lights vanishes from it and only the color blue remained

However, that blue color didn't remain long. The center of the formation suddenly changes its color again. This time, it was a chaotic mixture of black, blue, and purple lights that looks similar to the skies in the middle of the night when the stars are shining brightly

Seeing that, a joyful smile starts to bloom on Reif's face. He uses all of his powers to make the formation work and the chaotic mixtures of light expanded

Soon, the whole formation was gone. Only a portal can be seen from its original location

This portal is Reif's greatest work. It was a portal to another world!

Reif already reaches the pinnacle of magic in this world. He can't advance any further in this realm

However, Reif still wants to advance. He knew that his path hasn't reached the end yet. If this world can't help him advance further, then he can only go into another world!

Seeing this portal, Reif knew he succeeded. His body shook in joy as he grips his fist tightly

When Reif realizes that he can't raise his power anymore, he spent countless years making this portal

He doesn't care about other things in this world anymore. Since this world is holding him back, he needs to travel into another world

This moment was the most special moment that Reif is waiting for and he didn't waste any more time entering the portal

What met Reif inside the portal was a spatial tunnel connecting his world to a new one. Reif can't wait to reach the other end and he traveled in the spatial tunnel at his fastest speed

However, Reif suddenly sensed a will locking at him. This will was so vast and powerful that it makes Reif feel how weak he is compared to the whole world

"Insolent! How dare you escape from your home!" The will spoke with a thunderous voice

If Reif has an authoritative air around him because of his position as the strongest mage in the Erha Realm, this will have an authority that is even far stronger than his

This will is not a complete stranger to Reif. He already sensed it a few times in the past but he just wasn't able to confirm its existence

"So you really exist, Overseer!" Reif replied not willing to submit to the authority this will has

Overseer! That is an existence that no one in the world knows. Even Reif only learned that there is something like that after living for so long and only now did he confirmed the existence of this overseer

"Insolent Mortal, get back to your home!" The overseer answered causing Reif to sneer

Reif only learned about the existence of this overseer from a strange book he found years ago

The book explained the existence of the Overseer for a bit. The overseer can be comprehended into different things. It can be the will of the heavens, the consciousness of the world, the pillar of the world, the controller of destiny, the fate itself

The whole Erha Realm was controlled by it like a master controlling its puppets. It has the ability to do anything it wants in the world

Who will become the hero, and who will become the villain is decided by the overseer. It can manipulate the strings of destiny and it will destroy anyone that will defy its will

Even Reif becoming the strongest mage ever in History is something decided by the overseer

He should have been satisfied by that already but Reif is more ambitious. He can feel that there is still a stage beyond his current realm but the overseer doesn't want him to reach that

For the overseer, Reif's fate is only to become the strongest mage of the realm. He can't go beyond that

If Reif tried to defy his destiny, the overseer will surely destroy him. If Reif stops, he can continue his life while living as the strongest but he doesn't want that. Reif wants to continue improving his power and he wants to be the controller of his own destiny!

However .... reality is really cruel. After seeing that Reif continued traveling in the spatial tunnel, the overseer was angered and it didn't hold back anymore

A terrifying power surrounded Reif's whole body. Despite being the strongest mage in his world, he doesn't even have the ability to resist the overseer

Reif was being pulled back to his own realm while his body was breaking apart. No matter how unwilling he is, the disparity in power was just too large. His powers were even sealed while his existence was being destroyed

"Is this my end? No! I'm unwilling!"

Reif is really unwilling for his life to end like this. He wished for a miracle to happen and save him in the most depressing time of his life

If Reif successfully crossed this crumbling spatial tunnel, he would reach a new world. Even if there is also an overseer there, he would at least keep his life intact

He can plan things more thoroughly. Reif would have hope. But if things end here, he would die and all of his efforts would be in vain

"Someone ... something ... anything ... help me!" Reif wished desperately before a blinding light suddenly appeared from his chest

The old and worn-out book that Reif has found before appeared out of nowhere. It was shining with such a strong light that it makes even the Overseer tremble in fear

"T-that's!" The Overseer said in disbelief and Reif doesn't care anymore. He desperately moves his hand trying to grab that book that was changing its form

The old book suddenly turned into a white-colored ordinary-looking gem that issued a powerful force

The overseer's power that covered Reif's body was dispelled and the crumbling spatial tunnel was even stabilized. After that, the gem issued a strong pulling force that accelerated Reif's traveling speed inside the spatial tunnel

Even the overseer was not able to catch up to him.

Reif doesn't know how much time has passed but this sort of fast travel is not something that even he, can withstand

He was already injured because of the overseer before yet his body is even breaking apart again inside the spatial tunnel

It didn't take that long before Reif's whole body was destroyed only leaving his soul. However, even his soul was starting to break apart

At first, it only starts as a small tear but the traveling speed soon broke down pieces and pieces of his soul

When Reif reached the end of the tunnel, only a tiny piece of his soul remained. What met Reif was a new world that doesn't look that much different from his old world

Before Reif can even rejoice, he suddenly felt a will locking at him. This will feels similar to the overseer of his old home but Reif knew that they are not the same one

"Was I detected?" Reif asked himself. Because of the level, he had reached, even a tiny speck of his soul can still maintain his existence

Only when both of his body and soul was destroyed would he really die but if this goes on, the overseer of this world might kill a foreigner like him

Somehow, Reif instinctively knows what to do in this situation and the remaining tiny piece of his soul decided to hunt for a new body

Reif doesn't have the luxury to spend a long time choosing a new body and he went for the one he can feel has the strongest talent

When Reif arrives at his target, what he saw was a young kid around 13 years of age. The kid was laid in a bed used for magical experiments while both his hand and body were bound in chains to prevent him from escaping

The kid was in terrible condition. He looks malnourished and Reif can feel poisonous energies from the kid. The amount of poison his body intakes was not something that a normal person can endure

Too bad that Reif doesn't have much time to examine the situation and he entered the soul of the kid

While trusting his instincts, Reif starts to fuse his soul with the soul of this kid. If it was just him, he would surely swallow the soul of his new body

However, Reif can feel that the only way to prevent the Overseer from noticing him is by fusing his soul into an inhabitant of this realm

This was something that Reif will never do in the past. Fusing the soul means that the people involved will turn into a single person

With Reif's status and power, how can he fuse his soul with a kid that doesn't even have the power to protect himself?
