Chapter 24: 2nd Phase

Zaine looks at the quest once again. He wonders about the {Defeat Elementals}. He decides to ask the receptionist about it.

"Can you tell me about the elementals?" Ask Zaine.

"Oh, the elemental's quest?" Replied the receptionist while taking out details of the quest from one of the shelves behind him.

"Yes, why is the reward slot listed as 'none'?" Ask Zaine.

The receptionist realized the question.

"Ah, the quests are designed like that. The rewards come from the monsters themselves.

The elemental drops experience stone worth 1% of the user's current levels, the stone can be sold for a price, and demands are currently low because of the costly price." Explains the receptionist.

"An experienced farm, huh? Interesting." Zaine thought to himself.

Zaine thanked the receptionist and went back to Amy and Albus.

With dusk approaching, they decided to call it a day and search for a place to stay. They had explored parts of the island and had a place in mind.

They rented a small hut on the outskirts part of the island and finished off their day on a comfortable bed.

The next day comes rolling by as Zaine and his group prepares for the day.

"Umm, Zaine?!" Amy yelled at Zaine.

"Why is the sky like that?!"

Suddenly the sky gets enveloped by bloody red color. A portal could be seen ripping open the sky, and a creature could be seen coming out of it.

The same creature from the tutorial, standing in the sky, wanting to announce something.

A sense of urgency fills Zaine's head as he runs outside as fast as possible, screaming at Amy and Albus to regroup.

This site is a first for Amy and Albus. They had never seen that creature before, so they decided to stay by Zaine's side, trying not to panic as the situation seemed grim.

They arrive at the Adventurers Guild, where people gather around, looking at the creature in the sky.

The creature looked down in silence as people started crowding.

Some adventurers try to throw stuff and attack the creature, but it just seeps through and falls back down.

"Hello, people. We are at precisely a month since the beginning of the world optimization. We are happy that you all have managed to survive thus far."

The creature broke the silence, congratulating them for their achievements. Some think they will be able to come back into their world, some doubt while knowing that it won't be that easy, while some don't even know what the creature is talking about.

"It is time for another update to the game."

Just as the creature talked, a notification popped up, followed by a tower suddenly coming up from beneath the earth's surface.

"The Tower of Trials, one of our best creations, and we thought this would be your last hurdle before completing the game. If you manage to climb to the top, you will be able to get various loots that may help you on your journey."

"Hahahaha, good luck, and let the true game begin."

Its height pierces to the sky as the creature laughs mockingly at the people below and goes back into the portal, disappearing completely.

Monsters could be seen coming out of the tower, killing people on Avalon Island.

The place that was once a haven for the people was no more. The safe zone barrier had been nullified and broken. What was left was only chaos.

The Adventurers Guild acted fast as the situation got worse by the minute and declared an urgent quest for the adventurers.

{Safe the World: Explore the Tower}

Requirements: Registered Adventurer

Rewards: 1-500 Gold Coins

The Adventurers that have assembled quickly rush to defeat the monsters of the tower. Their sheer number match evenly with the creatures coming out of the tower entrance.

Zaine, being cautious, decided to observe the situation further before doing anything. Thankfully the situation soon calmed down, and the guild posted an urgent quest to explore the tower.

With what was happening, Zaine had to get stronger and level up.

The priority for Zaine is to accumulate experience. Just enough to summon the origin goblin. With its immaculate strength, even unknown to Zaine, it will surely come into use in the future.

They decided to go and take on the elemental quest. They are given a map that indicates the location of the place.

The place is on the continent's shore, so they take on the teleporter and walk a few minutes from the harbor to reach it.

Seeing what just happened this morning, the cave where the elementals dwell is empty, with one person guarding the entrance to ensure the number of people coming in and out.

Zaine showed them their party card, and soon they were allowed to go inside.

Even though the entrance looked small from the outside, they could see that the inside was very spacious and full of elementals of all elements.

Deeper into the place where most people won't reach, Zaine summons a couple of ents to root the elementals and kills them.

Zaine observes his summons to do all the work, and hopefully, there will be no problems in the future.

"Alright, let's head back." Said Zaine to Amy and Albus.

"Huh? We're done?! What about your summons? Are you just going to leave them here?" Ask Amy with a complex look on her face.

"It will be fine, they will continue to kill elementals here, and if people do start coming here, they will not attack them, so it's fine. Worst case is they got defeated, but I can always come back here to re-summon them." Explained Zaine, with a smile on his face.

They finally returned to Avalon with a continuous supply of experienced stone generated by Zaine's summon.

On the road back, they discussed their plans and decided to try and explore the towers next.

Upon returning to the Adventurers Guild, the receptionist noticed Zaine's group returning so fast after going into the elemental's cave.

"Oh, you're back already." Greet the receptionist.

"They must have thought that going there is a waste of time just like any would." The receptionist thought to himself

Zaine decided to take up the quest to explore the tower. While it might be dangerous, they will do it regardless.
