RAISING A PROTAGONIST

"Goodness, being the strongest is not as I expected at all. Everything and everyone are too weak and terrified. "My students are scared of me as well?" "Even powerful magic beasts die before I touch them!" "Hmm? Oh, he has the protagonist star but he is too hidden and might not shine. Hehehe, I'll groom this one and make him into the strongest too" Realizing that being the strongest comes with not only power and authority but extremely loneliness and unbearable boredom, vee fakes his death and travel to a far away land to live as a commoner. But just a few years after his retirement, his planet was invaded by a strong force that seek to conquer their home. But vee decides not to act this time and rather watch from the sideline while secretly helping someone else to become the main character in the darkest moment of their planet.

The both of them entered with their bags and what welcomed their eyes were rows of bungalows that were separated by the wide road in the middle.

On both sides of the road were seemingly endless columns of bungalows. Each duplex had a simple design and plainly painted, with a short wooden fence circling only a few meters around each building, and a very short wooden gate with different numbers written on it in front of the wooden fences.

While these buildings might look simple to most students, Alex saw them in a whole different light. After all, the house of their village head back in the village wasn't as 'Lavish' as these buildings.

"The magic Royal academy is truly different in many ways" Vee muttered in a daze from Alex's side, he was also staring at the rows of houses just like Alex and it looked like he was stunned by the arrangements of the academy as well.

They went in search of their block after being in a daze for a while, which they quickly found since the gates were numbered accordingly and they simply had to follow the trend to arrive in front of the building that would be their lodge in the academy.

'Who would even want to stay outside campus with such a lodge? Can the places outside be any better than this?' Alex thought to himself as he stared at the building in front of him with the number 105 written on the small wooden gate in front of it.

Of course, he had seen places that were far better and more beautiful than the houses that the academy provided but that was just in terms of size and luxury, they were just more lavishly built. Alex was more concerned about comfort and this place already met the requirement for him.

Pushing the door of the building open after one of them had let the scanner on the side of the door run a green light over their student card, they entered the living room which was quite spacious.

The living room had one round table and three couches in the middle of the room, there was nothing else added to the decor but it was fine. After all, they were here to study and not to enjoy life as if they were on vacation.

They left the living room to check out what else the bungalow held in surprise for them. Turned out that their lodge had two bedrooms, a bathroom, and two other empty rooms that they could use for whatever purpose the students desired.

"Guess everyone would be in pairs two. Tsk tsk tsk, wish I had been paired with a beauty" Vee clicked his tongue continuously as he stormed into Alex's bedroom and began to move around like the room belonged to him.

"Why would the academy do something so stupid? Go complain to them if you have any issues" Alex only rolled his eyes at Vee's words and resumed unpacking his things to arrange in the wardrobe that he found in his bedroom.

"Hehe, of course, I was just kidding. The academy would not really do such a thing" Vee chuckled in response and suddenly slumped down on Alex's bed with his arms spread wide.

Alex could not help but stop what he was doing and stare at the white-haired kid with a raised eyebrow.

"What are you doing? Don't you have your own bed? Don't mess mine up!" Alex said with a serious tone that was laced with slight anger.

He had never owned a bed so he was very sensitive about it.

" There you go again. It's not like I'm going to take it away, alright? So chill. After all, I'm already done unpacking so I have nothing else to do. Why don't you hurry up so we can go read the student manual together?' Vee said with a sigh but still tactfully got up from Alex's bed as the kid was still glaring at him.

'Silly kid, getting worked up over a bed. There will be times that you won't even want to sleep and would rather stay up all night and day' Vee chuckled inwardly, remembering his times when he was still the strongest in the northern continent. Well, he still was, just that he was believed to have died by most people.

"Oh" was all Alex replied with and hurried up with arranging his things before the two left for the living room.

Alex had also noticed that the temperature inside the house was cooler when compared to the high temperature outside, which must be something that the academy made to make the students more comfortable.

Both of them slumped down on one couch as they both brought out their student manuals, it was a small book with just a few pages.

Without disturbing each other, both of them began to read the contents of the manual carefully.

At least, Alex was reading seriously.

The first page of the manual only had a few words to welcome the students and how lucky they were to have made it into the Royal Magic Academy of the southern continent, as well as a few prestigious and honorable histories of the academy.

Next was the introduction to the subjects in the academy.

Alex found quite a large number of courses offered by the academy but only a few were available to students who were in their first years which were: Elemental Theory (free), Wand Speciality (free), and Magic Beasts Study (free).

Those three were the three courses that the first-year students had access to and the fee in front of them showed that the students did not have to pay to attend these classes. And lastly, the fourth course was the combat class but unlike the previous three, this one was not free and actually had a passage fee of two gold coins every month. Aside from that, under it were a few words that said the students would only be able to attend this class after three months in the academy.

The rest courses would be accessible to the students after they moved to their second year and successfully passed their promotion exam which was to meet a few requirements such as becoming a magic apprentice ranked mage by the end of the first year, any student who failed to reach this threshold will have to repeat their first year.

'I doubt anyone can even repeat in an academy like this' Alex thought as he kept reading.
