Chapter 6: Aunty Iren’s call

"I hope so, because if that's what she promised then I'm wasting my time in this because at any time she can gain back Neil's heart," Khloe said.

"Oh no, Neil will never let you down for Mariah, I won't allow that to happen, now go to your bed you need some rest now, don't allow that to bother you."

Khloe knew being in Neil's house without being married was very risky as he could throw her out of the house at any given moment, though she was the one he had chosen, she knew he still had some feelings for Mariah, and with the plan she came up with, she was not on the safe side. Therefore she had to hunt Neil till he succeeded in getting rid of Mariah. Not wanting to create a drama in front of Jane, she left for her room but she was still not happy, it seemed like her mother-in-law couldn't do much in this case. "I have this feeling that madame Jane can't help me out, I will have to react fast before I get caught, no one is to know about my plan." Khloe said as she was frightened.

Mariah and Naja we're soon done at work, Mariah was so happy that she literally forgot that she was faced with issues, the comments from the clients and their interaction brought her so much joy, as that was what Naja wanted for her. Seeing her interact with other new faces was just so nice. Mariah, after serving one of the regular clients of the restaurant, came back in joy and told Naja that the client appreciated how she saved him and asked to be served now just by her. "Haha, he's a regular client in the restaurant, and I think he is trying to welcome you by being a friend," Naja pointed out.

"Wow, he is cool. I love seeing people who behave in such a way," she said with a smile on her face.

"This is the Mariah I want to see, the smiling and friendly type, please don't stop being a good fellow okay,"

"Yeah, I heard you!"

"It's 7:00 PM now, we should be on our way, Caitlyn will surely be waiting for us." Naja said. They soon left for the house, and on their way home, the skies were getting dark indicating that it was about to rain heavily. "Hurry it will soon rain!" Mariah said as she tried hearsting up Naja who seemed to be slow. Naja soon joined her after signing the file indicating that she was present at work and now it was time for her to depart. Luckily, they met a taxi down the road, he was going in their direction. Once they arrived at their destination, Mariah paid as Naja's cash was almost finished. Caitlyn was home already and prayed for them to arrive before the rain began. She was sitting in the living room and going through a documentary when she heard a knock on the door. "I hope it's Naja and Mariah," Caitlyn said as she rushed to go open the door, she opened and found Mariah who seemed tired, she helped her in while Naja followed and closed the door behind her. "I can see you are tired, so tell me how was your first day at work, good or bad?" Caitlyn asked.

"It was so wonderful. The clients were so welcoming. All I wish right now is to continue serving in that restaurant, I love it." Mariah exclaimed.

"Wow, this is interesting, I knew you were going to love it, but right now I'm more convinced I'm so happy for you,"

Naja allowed them to continue with their conversation while she rushed to go change her clothes. She had been in the kitchen cooking since morning and all she needed at that time was a cold bath. "Hey girls will see you soon, I need a bath right now. Caitlyn and Mariah continued discussing until Iren called. "Hello aunt,"

"Hello my daughter, I tried getting to your husband but he hasn't been picking my calls, if he thinks he can get rid of you he should be joking because you ain't done with him yet," Iren mentioned.

"He thinks I'm an easy woman, well I'll show him what I'm capable of, it's either I receive 50% of all his wealth or we remain married final."

"That's good my girl, that's the best decision if you have to lose your marriage, then he should be ready to pay for all the years you wasted with him, I'll be in the city tomorrow, I'll go have a word with his useless mother and I will see you after that, have a safe night and remember he is not worth your tears okay," Iren said.

"Yes aunt, thanks for comforting me." Mariah dropped the call after this and continued discussing with Caitlyn, but in the middle of their discussion, Mariah laughed and Caitlyn was curious and asked why she laughed, she looked at her again and still laughed for the second time, then she proceeded. "Aunt Iren called saying she will be paying a visit to my mother-in-law, and I can't imagine what is going to go on, just imagining the conflict makes me laugh so hard, I know she is gonna dish out Jane's truth on a piece of plate and luckily I won't be available to separate them."

"What, this is serious," Caitlyn said.

Iren wasn't someone to temper with, as her phrases were so difficult to bear, Mariah been married to Neil avoided passing out information on how she was treated by Jane because she feared because of her temper she might lose her marriage, each time Iren and Jane got into a messy situation, Jane was the one hurt as she was thrown out insults which she had longed buried. Iren knew Mariah had been hiding some information from her so the only way through which she could get information was through her two friends. She knew Mariah discussed everything with them and once they told her she took the next bus for the city. Iren never wanted to see Mariah in pain because it reminded her of her late mother who felt pain and died because of marital affairs. She wasn't willing to see Mariah go through that and did everything she could to protect her niece.
