------------------------------------------------------------

"Ok honey, let's try it one more time now, starting from the top, breath in and spread your psychic energy all around you and try to feel every detail there is to perceive." Cyrus' Mother instructed as they sat down across from one another. Cyrus was currently trying his best to spread his psychic senses to form a 3-meter area around him

Cyrus, hearing his mother's instructions, took a deep breath in and as he let it out, along with the breath, he released all of the built-up psychic energy he had formed for this exercise.

Currently, Cyrus was undergoing some training from his mother in the art of having eyes in the back of his head, or more accurately, creating a 3-meter ring of perfect perception around his person.

The reason being, who wouldn't want an area around them that would automatically alert him of any incoming threats?

Despite his military career not lasting much longer than over a year, before he had been drafted, Cyrus had been a prolific boxer. Since the young age of 7, Cyrus had been training in the 'elegant' art of boxing.

Once he had reached High School, Cyrus had taken the next step and started dabbling in MMA circuits around the city, at first he had continuously gotten his ass handed to him by the more experienced underground fighters, but over time, and after a shit ton of ass kickings, Cyrus had developed himself into quite the formidable fighter.

During his life as a civilian, Cyrus had only needed to use his MMA training in a real-life situation a whole one time.

One night as he was in a local bar with some friends that catered to the college students of the university he was at, Cyrus had been minding his own business, drinking shot for shot with his buddies when suddenly, he had been shoulder checked by some random dude who had no business trying to piss him off.

The dumbass in question was another university student who stood around 5'10(178cm) and weighed no more than 180 pounds soaking wet(81kg)

Why did this guy "attack" Cyrus you ask? Well, for the 'obscene crime' of sitting next to the guy's girlfriend in one of his classes, if you asked Cyrus back then who she even was, he wouldn't even be able to tell you as he had interacted with her a whole two times for class projects.

Now, if it was your average college student who the dumbass had tried to mess with, then maybe he would've had a chance, but Cyrus was anything but average.

During his prime at the age of 22 years old, Cyrus stood at an impressive 6'4(194cm) and weighed in at about 230 pounds(104kg) of pure muscle that had taken him around 3 or so years to build while going to the gym 6 days a week for 3 hours a day, and maybe a little creatine, but that's beside the point.

The point being, Cyrus hadn't the slightest clue what had come over the guy to make him so confident in himself, that was until Cyrus had noticed the shit-eating grin the guy had that screamed "My friends and I are going to jump you", and what do you know, standing right behind him were two guys who were slightly larger than him, but they also sported the same stupid ass look.

Although they must've thought themselves intimidating, Cyrus could only think of Draco Malfoy with his two goons when he looked at the trio who had come up to him that night at the bar.

Needless to say, the idiot and his two idiot friends both got the absolute shit beat out of them, and after it was all said and done, Cyrus had gotten off with self-defense considering it was three against one, plus the trio wasn't very well liked around campus so pretty much every witness vouched for Cyrus.

The point of this long-winded story being, although he already had the skills to be a highly deadly combatant, it never hurt to have a few more tricks up your sleeve.

Besides, once he is done with learning the basics of being a psychic and can create a 10-meter ring around himself, Cyrus was planning to move on to learn more about his elemental manipulation powers, namely Pyrokinesis, Aerokinesis, Electrokinesis, and lastly Hydrokinesis.

Although it would be easy to find an instructor for his Pyrokinesis, being his father Elias, Cyrus was having trouble looking for anyone to help him with the other three abilities, however, once his grandfather Silas returns from yet another business trip, he should be able to enlist his help with Electrokinesis.

Apparently, the silver fox patriarch of the family is quite the expert in Electrokinesis, Cyrus would've never known if he hadn't found a journal written by Silas himself detailing his time as a Frontier Explorer and the numerous battles he had fought against Pokemon and humans alike.

What is a Frontier Explorer you ask? well even if you didn't you're about to find out.

In this world, as you know, only two continents of the many landmasses and islands of this world are inhabited by humans, however, it was never stated that humanity had never tried to expand.

That is where the Frontier Explorers come into play, when there is uncharted land in need of exploring, or some ruins of a past civilization had just been uncovered, who gonna call? Frontier Explorers!

Cringe aside, Silas Lockhart II was one of the most accomplished Frontier Explorers of his time, Silas alone is attributed with upwards of 10 unique discoveries, ranging from ruins from lost settlements that were long forgotten, to even a few new Pokemon species that were thought to be extinct.

Silas' greatest find had to be a long-abandoned settlement that had been found on one of the islands just off the coast of Sinnoh.

In the old settlement, it held documents depicting different Pokemon and how they had looked and even their behaviors back during the first efforts of human settlement of the Hisuian region, which is modern-day Sinnoh.

According to the documents, the now-extinct Hisuian Growlithe and Arcanine were slightly larger than their modern-day counterparts and were even said to be on average more powerful as well.

It is believed that due to the climate of Hisui and the regions around heating up, the Hisuian Arcanine line had to adapt and the way they did that was by losing some of the excess furs and adapting to a smaller more streamlined build, of course, a modern Arcanine is by no means small, but the hisuian counterpart was said to be anywhere from 1-2 feet larger(30-60cm).

Back to the man who discovered this outpost, Silas' success could be attributed to not only his intellect and natural talent for traversing the dangerous lands outside human borders but also his strong bond with his Pokemon companions along with his masterful use of Electrokinesis.

With this in mind, Cyrus was hoping his oh-so-amazing Grandpa would teach him how to better wield his Electrokinesis.

Back to Cyrus and his psychic training, the boy in question was at the precipice of achieving a 3-meter ring of psychic energy surrounding him and adding a layer of protection along with it.

"There you go honey, just like that, keep your mind clear and slowly expand the area of your energy." Cyrus' mother said as an encouragement to him as he was held a meter away from accomplishing what he set out to do.

Right as he was about to do it, his concentration was grabbed, thrown, and stomped on when Erik had come running through the door while slamming it open and destroying Cyrus' attempt.

"Fuck!" Cyrus yelled out in frustration only to be whacked by his mother who sternly lectured him on bad language.

After the miny lecture was over, Cyrus looked toward his little brother and couldn't help but lose all of his anger toward the boy.

In his past life, Cyrus was an only child, so it was a welcomed experience being an older brother, although sometimes the twin makes him want to strangle somebody, they are still his family.

"Sigh, what is it, Erik?" Cyrus asked with a sigh and a small smile creeping up on his face due to his adorable little brother's antics of jumping up and down when excited about something

"Big brother, let's go outside and play catch, come one let's go!" Erik said as he stopped jumping and placed and dragged Cyrus down the stairs and out of the house to the back lawn where there was already a rubber Pokeball sitting in the grass waiting for them.

(Three hours later)

The two brothers had been outside playing for quite a bit of time, they had thrown the ball around for an hour or so before going for a dip in the pool which was larger than an Olympic-sized pool.

Cyrus and Erik were both currently in the pool having the time of their lives.

'Man, how long has it been since I was able to have some innocent childish fun? I can't even remember the last time I did this in my past life.' Cyrus thought as he splashed Erik with a small ball of water he formed and through at him.

While they were messing around, the two boys suddenly heard a loud crashing sound from the egg nursery which was 65 or so meters away from their location.

Cyrus, not wanting his little brother to get into harm's way if it was an intruder, sent him back to the mansion to enlist some help from one of the guards.

Every guard on the compound was at least the level of an Ace Trainer, so Cyrus was sure that any kind of intruder that dared to enter the premises would be dealt with in a timely fashion.

After a few moments of waiting, Cyrus had gotten curious so he decided to sneak over to the nursery and scout out the situation.

As soon as he was within a couple of meters, he started to hear some voices, a man and woman were currently conversing and planning out their next move.

"What the hell! none of the eggs that were listed are here, who the fuck gave us this shitty information!" Yelled the male voice

"Shh! Keep it down you damn idiot, hurry up and keep looking, those damn Charmander eggs have got to be here somewhere." The female voice said while yelling at her compatriot followed by more sounds that seemed to be the two of them sifting through the different incubators and ledgers.

'Chamrnader eggs... wait, don't tell me they are talking about the eggs Grandpa's Charizard laid, holy shit, who the hell gave them such atrociously terrible intel?' Cyrus laughed mentally as he was finding the situation a little funny

The reason for his amusement was due to the eggs in question being held within the in-house nursery, which is pretty much one of the most secure rooms in the entire mansion as it holds the eggs of several family members' Pokemon along with any employees who are trusted enough to be allowed the luxury.

The egg nursery that these intruders were rummaging around in was the one that held the eggs of the different Pokemon tribes who live on their grounds or near it.

The Lockhart family is an extremely old and rich family, so it makes sense when you learn that some Pokemon from passed relatives had reproduced and made their own tribes that reside on the family property.

One of the largest of these tribes is the Arcanine Line which is led by two of Cyrus' great-grandfathers Arcanine and their children, Arceus rest his soul.

The two very old and very powerful Pokemon had reproduced and established a tribe within the family grounds and they currently inhabit a sizable man-made cave that Silas I, Cyrus' great-grandfather and Silas II's father, had created for the two Arcanine.

Now, the tribes contain 10 Arcanine and around 20 or so Growlithe, their numbers would be larger if it wasn't for members of the tribe who evolve into Arcanine and leave to the wild to make a family of their own.

But that's a whole different can of worms that would take too long to explain.

Back to the idiot intruders, the eggs they were looking for were the clutch of eggs Silas II's Charmander had laid before they left for the business trip, although hesitant to leave her eggs, she knew that the nursery they were in was one of the best in the world so she was placated.

Despite them having wrong intel, it still begged the question, who gave these intruders the info in the first place? and who where these intruders?

Deciding that he had enough of their comedy duo routine, Cyrus decide to confront them and try his luck at some combat, the only reason he did was that he could see the lights coming from the Guards who were rushing over here with their Pokemon.

Judging from the distance, it would seem that Cyrus had a couple of minutes to do whatever he wanted with the intruders.

Getting himself into a good position, Cyrus crept up behind the duo who were still arguing and he launched his attack.
