a good blue boy

Rushing past his brother and cousins, Cyrus ran through the halls of the family mansion while using wind manipulation to speed himself up.

Although it may seem like nothing special, Cyrus was rushing toward the eggs because of his sheer curiosity about the light blue egg that came out in the last batch of eggs from his father's Arcanine.

When his parents had seen the light blue Growlithe egg, at first they thought maybe it was due to having a grandparent of a different species, that suggestion however was shot down by Professor Oak who Elijah had asked to come and inspect the egg.

After his examination of the egg, Professor Oak had confirmed that without a doubt the egg was one of a Growlithe, however, this only led to more questions, that was until Cyrus had offhandedly posed the question of if the egg could house a Growlithe with a genetic mutation.

Professor Oak had actually agreed with Cyrus after a few moments of consideration and since then everyone has been waiting with bated breath for when the Growlithe eggs would hatch.

That was around 20 days ago, now that the estimated period between being laid and its hatching has finished, Cyrus wasn't really surprised to hear the eggs had hatched, sure he was a little mad he couldn't see the hatching process due to it being the first time he would've ever seen it, but there is plenty of ways for him to witness the process in the future, maybe even for one of his own future pokemon.

'I really hope that special egg hatched a genetic mutation Growlithe, my bet is on either ice or water type.' Cyrus mused as he rounded the corner to the main hall where he would exit out of the foyer of the mansion and make his way to the pasture where his father's Arcanine lived.

With a loud, *Bang* Cyrus flew out of the doorway and was closing in on the area of interest, which after another few moments, he had reached

Upon first sight, all Cyrus saw were two adorable Growlithe who was lying next to their mother, Elias' Arcanine, however, that's when he saw it, the Growlithe who he automatically assumed came from the special egg.

Held within Elijah's arms, was a small, adorable Growlithe whose fur was a mix of light and dark blue, completely replacing the original colors of its siblings.

The little Pokemon was currently being given a check-up by Cyrus' uncle to make sure there were no complications and the cute little guy? girl? Hell if he knew, all Cyrus cared about was going to the three new Growlithe and playing with them.

In Cyrus' past life, he had always loved dogs from a young age, he didn't just love dogs, he LOVED the furry four-legged creatures. The first job that he had gotten at 16 was working at a pet shelter where he got to tend to and play with all sorts of dogs, and cats too.

While he loved his job, it always broke his heart to see those heartless bastards who would come and drop off the animals and speed away as they had just washed their hands of a major burden.

There was one time when this way too cocky bastard had walked up to the front desk and shamelessly handed them a box full of puppies, something like 4-5, the memory was a little fuzzy now, but Cyruis still vividly remembers feeling a seething rage that told him to go and wring the guy's neck, sadly, he kept himself in check.

But that was all in the past, now, he had three new baby Pokemon who 'needed' his utmost attention.

Cyrus had now been standing there for a while watching the newly hatched Pokemon, it was only then that Professor Oak, Elijah, Elias, and Emily had all noticed his presence, his Grandfather Silas would've been there if he didn't have a business meeting with Devon Corp.

"Ah! Cyrus my boy, just the young lad we were looking for!" Professor Oak exclaimed in his signature jovial tone

"Hello Professor, it's an honor to have you back here at our family home," Cyrus said in greeting while being respectful which wasn't only for etiquette reasons, Cyrus truly respected the man, in his defense, who couldn't?

Not only is Professor Oak the most accomplished Pokemon Professor in the world, but he is also an undefeated champion, the only one ever at that! Professor Oak's original team of 6 is extremely powerful and it is rumored that his two aces, a monstrously powerful Charizard, and an equally ferocious Blastoise have power that rivals that of weaker legendaries, with his Venusaur not far behind.

Whether those rumors are true, one thing is for certain, those three Pokemon are in a league of their own, especially when you consider the fact that every royal trio starter that Professor Oak has given to up-and-coming trainers has descended from those three.

That's right, Professor Oak's royal trio are said to be the progenitors of all of the starters given out by Oak, and that doesn't even account for the giant pasture that resides in the facility which houses the three Pokemon and their descendants who all have formed quite formidable tribes of their own.

It is said that an estimated 30-40 Pokemon of the three lines each live within their own tribes led by Oak's Pokemon. These three tribes are one of the reasons why the facility is said to be one of, if not, the most heavily protected place in the known world.

Moving on, these few reasons alone are one of the driving factors for Cyrus' admiration for the Professor, so he is quite happy to not only see him again but to also know that the special Growlithe is being checked by the man himself.

In all actuality, it was Elijah who gave the check-up with Oak supervising but Cyrus didn't really care.

"Cyrus, you finally got out here! come quickly and take a look at the little cuties!" Cyrus' mom, Emily had called out to him to come and see the two little Growlithe who were nuzzled up to Arcanine's side.

Seeing his hesitation while looking back toward the special Growlithe, Emily knew exactly what her son was thinking and still called him over, letting him know that the checkup will be done soon and he can go over there and see the little guy.

After letting out a sigh and going over to his mother and the new other Growlithe, Cyrus would end up staying out there for quite a while before Professor Oak and Elijah had completed their examination.

Elijah who was carrying the happy little guy in his arms walked over to Elias' Arcanine and the other two pups and he placed the special Growlithe down and it immediately went over to its mother and started to cuddle up to it and sniff around its siblings who did the same.

Seeing the newly born puppy Pokemon play around with each other, it was enough to make a grown man cry.

Cyrus let the siblings get acclimated to each other before he finally went over to them and started playing with them, whether he just chase them around or if he threw a stick and played fetch with them, he didn't care, he was having the time of his life.

While they were okaying fetch, the Growlithe who hatched first, which was a female, had gone to get the stick Cyrus had thrown but instead of picking it up, she seemed to stop for a second until she looked down at the stick, opened her mouth and blew a small burst of fire on the stick, charring it in the process.

Seeing her older sister do something like that, the second Growlithe had also done the same thing, this time she just blew fire at a small rock she found.

The thirds sibling, not wanting to be outdone, went to a decent-sized rock and he also did the same thing, however, right when everyone expected flames to come out like his two sisters, instead, what came out of his mouth was a small gust of frost which almost froze the rock.

seeing what the blue Growlithe had just done, left not only Cyrus and his parents gobsmacked, but also Elijah, however, Professor Oak just stood there and looked at the little guy in wonder and curiosity.

"Well would you look at that, it would seem we have just witnessed the first instance of a Growlithe being born with the ice typing in all of known Kantonian history!" Professor said while clapping for the good boy who was wagging his tale as he showed off to his siblings and mother who looked at him with surprise.

Despite what Cyrus had feared was going to happen, instead of his mother and sisters turning their back on him for the different typing, they just all went up to him and sniffed and licked him with congratulations and praise.

After the eventful evening, Erik, Alexander, and Samuel had come running outside, it would seem that they had gotten held up due to breaking a vase while they came rushing through the mansion, much to the chagrin of Damion, Cyrus' uncle, who had to listen to his wife Ana chew him out, for who knows what reason.

Alexander said something about his mom being mad that Damion didn't punish the boys for what they did but he only really caught a small bit of the conversation.

(A few Days Later, 3rd person Pov)

It had now been about a week since the Growlithe eggs had hatched and Cyrus was sad that little Bluey, as Erik loved to call him, had left with Elijah and Professor Oak after Elias, who had gotten the permission of his Arcanine, had offered Elijah to be the good boy's trainer.

Although an Assistant Professor now, Elijah had actually been a decently successful trainer during his few years of travel, he had reached a level where he was considered an Ace trainer, sadly he had never beaten a member of any region Elite Four so he wasn't classified as an Elite Trainer but he was one of the strongest at the Ace level.

That wasn't the only reason for Elias offering Elijah to take the Growlithe, the main reason was that Elijah had specialized in Ice types so he knew way more about taking care of them did Elias did since he mainly specializes in Fire and Rock types.

Although his two sisters were sad to see the blue boy leave, part of the deal was Elias, along with his Arcanine and her two pups would visit the facility weekly and spend some time with the Ice-type Growlithe.

Since the commotion over the newborn Growlithes was over, Cyrus had gone back to his routine of reading books about the world and other topics along with now finally being allowed to train his fledgling Psychic abilities, under the careful instruction of his mother Emily, who was a natural born Psychic herself.

The mother-son duo now stood in one of the many training rooms held within the sizable mansion and Emily was currently instructing Cyrus on how to begin feeling Psychic energy all around him.

"Now, son, the first thing you need to do is sit down, close your eyes, and clear your mind. An important part of feeling the psychic energy all around us is keeping the body in a calm state that will help aid you in this endeavor." Emly explained as she kept a careful eye on her baby boy as one wrong move could result in Cyrus getting a nasty headache, or maybe even worse.

Following his mother's instructions, Cyrus closed his eyes and emptied his mind as best as he could.

As soon as his mind had gone completely silent, that was when it happened, Cyrus had slipped into an almost trance-like state as he started to naturally perceive the psychic energy all around him.
