Pokemon Clan Wars: A Shaymin Dilemma

Before I get on with the story of my adventures, I would like to give ya'll a brief explanation of the Omega Region. Omega is divided into two parts, the upper region and the lower region. Just like any other regions there are also gyms here to hone trainer’s skills and battling abilities. There are eight gyms from the upper and eight more on the lower region. Moreover, Omega is ruled by different clans. A clan is a group of trainers that is united by a similar goal whether it is to help other trainers or to rule over them, it doesn’t matter now. Clans are also originally the peacekeepers. They are the ones citizens of Omega seeks for whenever there is trouble or there are particular jobs that has to be done such as a commotion on the Pokémon in the wild or the likes. Our clan, Omega Ph is based in the Upper Omega, specifically in Memorial City. Members of a clan may vary with type specializations or can be dependent to the clan qualification and it is always led by a person we call the founder, and ours is named Leyn. Members can be classified as juniors or the new ones, seniors or the ones that has stayed in the clan for a longer period of time and leaders or the ones that was either selected by the members or appointed by the founder to help him/her keep order within the clan. But I am neither of the three because I’m a special case. I’m only taking residency in the clan, thanks to the good heart of Leyn, because I’m a member of the Government Elite Force. GEF is a group composed of eighteen trainers who specializes and represents the eighteen Pokémon types. It was established by the government to serve as ambassadors of their type specialty and is always, not to make myself cooler, the best of the best in the region because usually they were former Omega League Champions or Gym Leaders though there were a few exceptions like us that were appointed. Some members were really famous just like Lance the dragon Champion while others like me chose to keep behind the lime light and just perform our duties and responsibilities. I’ve even kept it a secret, and so far I think I'm doing a great job with it. GEF members are also the ones who becomes acting-leader once a gym leader position gets vacant until the rightful replacement is found. I hope this gives you somewhat a clear picture of the current situation in Omega.

Ruins. That's the best explanation I can give to what the HQ of Omega PH have become. The usual light and easy-going atmosphere was replaced by an eerie silence so deafening. Inextinguished flames still singe some of the remnants of the quarters and bodies lay everywhere I look. That was just my worst fear that had been eating my mind up the whole trip back home. Every waiting second was dragging.

Well of course I was just overthinking things and the moment we stepped on the quarter's entrance, Leyn was there welcoming us.

"We managed to fend them off with very little damage and without casualties." he said like a child caught in something he was guilty about. He knows I'm enraged so that was an excellent conversation opener.

The moment I saw the footage it all clicked into place. Why the sudden trip to somewhere. Why too eager to kick me out of HQ. He must know something like this is going to happen. Somehow, he must've known.

"If we can call burning ceilings and wrecked walls "little" then I think Boss is telling the truth." Noel commented. I ignored his remark and continued walking.

"Uhm, ah, Is...it alright?" Leyn asked uncertainly. My brow furrowed. Leyn looked from me then to Noel. I was still a bit clueless when Shaymin hopped from my chest to Leyn. Ow. I'm a bit slow there. Of course he doesn't know that Noel already knows but I'm really not in the mood of talking and I'm still raged of what he did. After a while, Leyn returned Shaymin into it's hiding place and without any other word, he went ahead inside.

"Wow, why do I get the feeling that boss Leyn is scared of you now?" Noel muttered.

"He should be." I replied and continued towards the quarters. Just by the door, Sandrine, Vespercore and Kaiserson was waiting for us. They are all seniors of the clan, and as everyone well know, Sandrine is the Memorial City Gym Leader.

"Is anybody hurt?" I asked to no one in particular.

"Manotosh's arm got amputated." Kai said feebly.

"What?" I exclaimed.

"Just kidding. No one's hurt, even a scratch. What do that Havoc take us for?"Kai said then burst out laughing.

"Don't..." I started to say.

"Come on, it's just a joke. Let's go. Everyone is in the common room. You're just in time for the regrouping." Sandrine said , tucking her arm under mine. Noel, Vespercore and Kai were already on their way.

"I'm sorry I'm not in here." I whispered.

"No biggie. We handled ourselves well. They were no match against us. I think that clan was just over-hyped." Sandrine replied.

I'm kinda lost in here. Heatran sure is a force to recon with. And yet everyone says they manage to fend off Havoc easily. Something isn't right here but I'll save it for later. I focused on the path we are going as we entered the common room.

All twenty eight members of the clan are present. Leyn was standing at some improvised podium and he waved at me to join him. Sandrine disentangled herself from me and joined the group where Noel, Kai and Ves were. I made my way to Leyn's podium scanning the crowd before me. Sandrine wasn't lying. Everyone seems to be well. Too well in fact they were oozing with confidence.

"First of all, I commend everyone for a job well done. Thank you for giving your best in order to save our clan." Leyn started.

Everyone cheered in chorus and pat each other's back.

"But we shouldn't let our guards down. We might've beaten them today, but sure as the sun is rising from the east tomorrow, Havoc is going to retaliate. So I want everyone to be prepared and ready to battle when they come back."

That was a better speech. I really don't think that Havoc is done. This is far from over.

"I understand that. But don't you think we should be focusing first as to why Havoc attacked us in the first place?" Vespercore asked.

"Yeah, I've been wondering of that as well. Well of course, OmegaPH isn't really any average clan out there but why us? Why not Toxicity? Why not The Night Riders? It sure isn't because they just randomly pick one, is it?" Sandrine added. This brought hushed voices from the ensemble.

Oh no. This is the point I've been dreading for. I look at Leyn, feigning his expression.

"Whatever that is about, only Havoc will ever know. I don't have the slightest idea of it." Leyn said too softly it wouldn't have been heard if the members weren't listening very carefully. I know Leyn would never expose my secret. But still I let out a sigh of relief and hugged Shaymin too tightly it squirmed a bit.

"Sorry." I whispered.

"But don't you think it's important that we know the reason behind this? I mean, doesn't it feel like we're fighting without a defined reason or goal?" Sheeran, another senior, argued.

"We fight because we defend ourselves." Leyn countered. I'm feeling guilty now that he has to cover up for me.

"Maybe someone here has engaged himself with Havoc." Kai offered.

"Is there?" Sandrine asked, loud enough for everyone to hear. This started another commotion in our ensemble. I know that all of them has a point. If they'll be risking their lives fighting, they should at least know the reason why they are fighting. I suddenly turned my head and locked eyes with Noel.

"But you know, it wouldn't really hurt if people in our clan know. I'm pretty sure they will be helping you and Shaymin against those thugs chasing it. You know how our clan works right?" I remember him telling me.

I look at OmegaPH, the confusion about a reason and the answer that I hold. Then I look at Shaymin and thought of how much danger it faces now more than ever. It climbed up a little bit and gave me a nod. It must've sensed what I was thinking. I know certain Pokemon species can do that. I wonder if Shaymins are one of those. Before I could even back down, I stepped forward.

"It's me they want." I said amidst everyone's inquisition.

The crowd fell silent at once. Everyone was looking at me expectantly. I turn to Leyn.

"Are you sure about this?" he asked silently.

"They have to know, and they would sooner or later anyway." I answered.

"Ok." he just replied. I shifted my attention back to the crowd.

"You ready buddy?" I asked Shaymin quietly. It gave me another nod.

"Havoc only wants one thing from me. They were after this." I said, picking Shaymin from my pocket and holding it out in front of everyone.
