Pokemon Clan Wars: A Shaymin Dilemma

Before I get on with the story of my adventures, I would like to give ya'll a brief explanation of the Omega Region. Omega is divided into two parts, the upper region and the lower region. Just like any other regions there are also gyms here to hone trainer’s skills and battling abilities. There are eight gyms from the upper and eight more on the lower region. Moreover, Omega is ruled by different clans. A clan is a group of trainers that is united by a similar goal whether it is to help other trainers or to rule over them, it doesn’t matter now. Clans are also originally the peacekeepers. They are the ones citizens of Omega seeks for whenever there is trouble or there are particular jobs that has to be done such as a commotion on the Pokémon in the wild or the likes. Our clan, Omega Ph is based in the Upper Omega, specifically in Memorial City. Members of a clan may vary with type specializations or can be dependent to the clan qualification and it is always led by a person we call the founder, and ours is named Leyn. Members can be classified as juniors or the new ones, seniors or the ones that has stayed in the clan for a longer period of time and leaders or the ones that was either selected by the members or appointed by the founder to help him/her keep order within the clan. But I am neither of the three because I’m a special case. I’m only taking residency in the clan, thanks to the good heart of Leyn, because I’m a member of the Government Elite Force. GEF is a group composed of eighteen trainers who specializes and represents the eighteen Pokémon types. It was established by the government to serve as ambassadors of their type specialty and is always, not to make myself cooler, the best of the best in the region because usually they were former Omega League Champions or Gym Leaders though there were a few exceptions like us that were appointed. Some members were really famous just like Lance the dragon Champion while others like me chose to keep behind the lime light and just perform our duties and responsibilities. I’ve even kept it a secret, and so far I think I'm doing a great job with it. GEF members are also the ones who becomes acting-leader once a gym leader position gets vacant until the rightful replacement is found. I hope this gives you somewhat a clear picture of the current situation in Omega.

Grass vs. Poison

"Now the much awaited final match of this Omega Live Battle Tournament is about to begin!" Joker said and the crowd goes wild. I never thought this event is really popular. I shuffled towards the entrance to the battlefield as I caught sight of Noel together with Celeste in the bleachers. He practically dragged me towards the arena earlier. He is more excited that I am that he wakes up early, and I meant really early in the morning. On the way we met Celeste and her Chespin and they end up sitting together right there.

"Ok, this is the last battle after this we'll be heading back to the quarters." I whispered to Shaymin. "Bear with me a little more okay." It just made a happy purr and made itself comfortable inside my pocket.

"On the right corner, please show some love for the trainer from Memorial City, Jessaise!" Joker introduced me. I step out to the battlefield and took my position. The crowd cheered and I waved at them.

"And on the left corner, from Marmud City, Leader of the clan Toxicity and the Poison Champion of the GEF, give it up for Kevin!" Joker said, introducing my opponent. Kevin enter the arena and took his position opposite mine.

Now, cheer will be a very mild explanation because suddenly the crowd goes wild. It made the cheer for me earlier seem like a whisper. Geez.

"Ready to get humiliated?" he taunted.

"As ready as I can ever be." I just answered.

"Go get 'em Jess." Celested cheered from behind me. I waved at them and saw Chespin was watching intently.

"This is going to be a one on one match. A trainer win when either of the pokemon is unable to continue. So what are we waiting for folks? Let's get the ball rolling!!!" Joker announced.

Without further a due, Kevin threw his pokeball and called out his Pokemon.

"Toxicroak, show them what you got!" he said with his malicious smile.

Toxicroak. A Poison/Fighting type. I should've known. He just know me to well. When you look at the typing, I'm at a real big disadvantage but I still believe that it takes more than type advantages to win. I clutch my pokeball and called out my partner.

"Ferrothorn, aid me out here." I said as a green metallic top-like pokemon with four thorned tentacles protruding on it's head appeared on the battlefield.

"Well, well I think the match is already decided, might as well go home and forfeit." Kevin said.

"In your dreams." I whispered that I'm sure he didn't here over the noise of the crowd. I tune them out and concentrated on the battle at hand.

"Begin!" Joker shouted. Kevin didn't waste anytime and sprung into action.

"Toxicroak, go near and use Drain Punch!" Toxicroak sprung forward with such speed I almost forgot to react.

"Iron Defense!" I ordered. Ferrothorn braced itself as it makes every cell in it's body as hard as steel can be.

Toxicroak's fist connected but the damage was minimized. It immediately withdrew its arms and backed away holding it on its other hand.

"Iron Barbs eh," Kevin muttered. "Who cares? It could only handle a handful of super effective attacks. Toxicroak use Drain Punch until your opponent faints!"

Toxicroak launches itself again and began throwing punches towards Ferrothorn.

It's getting nearer. Nearer. There my chance.

"Ferrothorn use Thunder Wave!" I commanded as Toxicroak gets into striking distance. Ferrothorn released a weak charge of electricity from the tip of its tentacles and hit Toxicroak making it paralyzed but the Drain Punch kept coming and hit it pushing it back. Toxicroak remained standing in it's position as the paralysis settles in. I think I see Kevin curse but it was gone an he was back to his jerk self in a flash.

"Not bad. But it wont be good enough, Toxicroak use Mud Bomb!" Kevin said and Toxicroak immediately obliged catapulting mud from it's mouth. Gross.

"Ferrothorn, intercept with Thunder Wave!" I commanded. Toxicroak is not as fast as earlier now due to paralysis and Ferrothorn manages to dissolve the Mud Bomb with it's electric charge. This particular move gain me a cheer from the crowd. But it seems like this piss Kevin very very lightly.

Sparks flew from Toxicroak's body signalling that it is momentarily immobilized. I grab the opportunity of the offensive.

"Ferrothorn use Iron Head, quick as possible!" I ordered.

It charges towards the helpless Toxicroak. I thought it was helpless until...

"Toxicroak use Sucker Punch!"

It suddenly vanished as Ferrothorn get nearer then materialized behind it hitting it with such a force that send my Ferrothorn flying back. I flinch as it hits the ground near me.

"Pa.the.tic." Kevin murmurred.

"Are you ok buddy?" I asked as my Pokemon struggled to regain its footing. Ferrothorn manages to stand and resume its battle stance but it's obvious it has taken some serious damage. Toxicroak is panting but it looks like it can still fight.

"Ok, we've got to finish this real quick if we want to win. Ferrothorn. Use Iron Head again, and I want a lot of power this time." I ordered.

It concentrated all of its power at the center of its head made visible by a strong silvery light.

"Oh no you don't. Toxicroak, use Drain Punch again, and I want a death blow." Kevin commanded. It launches itself at the same time as Ferrothorn and they collided in the middle of the field with a loud bang. Smoke was billowing but I can make out the shape of my Ferrothorn slumped in the ground. It is moving so I'm sure it hasnt fainted yet. As the smoke clears out Toxicroak was standing looking good as new. Tss..Super Effective Drain Punch sure heal it big time.

"It seems like it's the end." Kevin said smugly.

Ferrothorn was flat on the ground. It can't even stand anymore. I dunno what injury it may gain if it is hit with another super effective attack.

"Finish it with another Drain Punch!" Kevin commanded. Toxicroak charges again for the sure finishing blow but...

"Stop!" I shouted. "I forfeit."

Toxicroak stopped in mid attack as Joker's voice fills the air of the arena.

"That's it folks. The winner of this years Omega Live Battel Tournament is the Poison Champion, Kevin!!!" The crowd started cheering and applauding again.

"What? Are you screwing with me?" Kevin shouted at me. I was already beside my Ferrothorn.

"Are you alright bud? I'm sorry we lost." I said as I withdrew it to its pokeball. Celeste, Chespin and Noel was already on my side.

"You can't just do that!" Kevin said.

"Can't do what? You already won. Be happy about it." I answered. I can see fury in his face that he didn't get to give the finishing hit. What's his problem? It seems like he's going to say more perhaps punch me in the face but he just withdrew Toxicroak and stalk out of the arena.

"Aw man, how could you lose?" Noel nagged.

"It was a great battle and Ferrothorn was really amazing. I probably will do the same thing. I can't just watch any of my Pokemon take a serious damage when it's clearly it can't battle anymore." Celeste said.

"Thanks." I said. "We probably should go to the Pokemon Center." I said and the three of us left the noise of the arena into the Pokemon Center.
