"Damn," growled Ash with disgust. I'm going to have to cut this short. He ran forward and threw himself at the uninjured Fearow, slamming into its back and bringing the baton down on the back of its head repeatedly, over and over and over again. He wrapped his legs around its back to hang on as the bird began to thrash around. After using all of its special moves, Pikachu dove at the Fearow that was battling with Ash and bit and scratched at it. Pikachu had used up all of its special attacks.

The animal's attempt to wrap itself around Ash threw him to the ground, where he landed heavily on his back. The force of the contact knocked him to the ground and caused his head to spin. When he turned around, he saw the second Fearow walking away from the Growlithe that was standing still and heading in his direction. As he turned over onto his knees, he began to search for his baton but was unable to locate it. Ash brought both of his hands up, caught the beak between his palms, and fell backwards, gripping the beak as he tumbled and the Fearow tried to impale him. The injured Fearow had its feathers matted with blood and its wings drooping uselessly as it drove its spike-like beak straight for Ash's chest. The Fearow's wings were uselessly drooping.

Pikachu fell to the ground and charged Ash while his cheeks crackled with electricity. It then lunged forward, and a third lightning bolt, which was more powerful than either of the two that had come before it, ripped through the air and struck the Fearow in the healthy wing. The bird shrieked and fell off of Ash, dropping to the ground and jerking in an unpredictable manner once it hit the ground.

Pikachu collapsed to the ground, panting and wheezing as the second Fearow approached the overworked Pokémon from behind. Ash, who was startled and flustered, rolled over onto his side to observe the scene. Although Ash's eyesight began to blur and his hearing became masked by white noise, just as he was about to lose all perception of his surroundings, he heard someone yell "hydropump!".....

A number of hours later, Ash started to stir, which made his head spin as consciousness started to return. He attempted to sit up but ended up falling backwards instead. Someone else's hands caught him and held him up just in time to prevent him from falling to the ground. A soft voice said, "Simple," and it was. "You are not yet strong. You have to tone things down for the time being."

Ash slowly opened his eyes and looked around while the person who had grabbed him, who turned out to be a girl, assisted him in sitting up. Ash was sitting on a bedroll, which he soon learned was his bedroll, just a few feet away from a very little bonfire. Pikachu was standing right next to him, chattering uncomfortably and prodding him with his snout. The Growlithe that he had captured earlier was currently dozing off close to the campfire. Bandages, which had become bloody, had been put around the creature's middle area.

Ash's focus was brought back to the girl as she inquired, "How are you feeling?" (How are you feeling?)

He had a feeling that she was far older than him once he noticed how she had aged. Despite the fact that she had good looks, she wore her auburn hair in a messy bun and her overall appearance was somewhat dishevelled. Both her yellow tank top and her jean shorts were filthy and had holes and rips in them. She really needed to get them washed. She was dressed in a pair of blue running shoes that gave the impression that they had been through a lot of different sorts of difficulties and come out unscathed. Most importantly, Ash observed the six pokeballs that were attached to her belt.

"I'm alive," he said, raising his palm to his face and announcing with a smile that he was. Pikachu immediately jumped into his lap and stared up at him, so Ash put his free hand on the Pokémon's neck and scratched up and down the back of its head. Pikachu continued to stare up at him the entire time. "And I'm going to think that's because of you?"

The young lady smiled and took a few steps backwards before continuing. She responded with "Kind of" before allowing Ash to sit by himself. She struggled to finish her sentence as she said, "I heard the fight going on and came sprinting up in time to stop the last Fearow from..." She continued by saying, "I patched up your Growlithe." "The injured creature should be able to pull through, but even after I wrapped it up, it continued to sit there and watch me like a watchdog. It barked at me every time I took a step in your direction." Ash took a quick glance at the Pokémon before continuing on. She paused. He showed a trace of a smile. She concluded by saying, "But, I believe that your Pikachu persuaded them that they needed to let me tend to you."

"Okay," muttered Ash as he took a small step back and propped himself up on his elbows. "Thank you… By the way, my name is Ash, and I'm Ash Ketchum."

The young lady wore a grin. "I'm Misty."
