Chapter 12: Enter Shroomish and the newly hatched pokemon

Early the next morning, it being bright from the sun. I would be in a grassy field training once again. Combusken would be sitting, holding and taking care of the pokémon egg. Elekid and Taillow would be going at it, training together.

"Taillow, use Wing Attack!"

Taillow's wings glow, it glides down, then charges at Elekid, with a powerful looking Wing Attack.

"Elekid, counter it by using Thunder Punch!"

Elekid jumps directly at the incoming Taillow, and punching Taillow with its Thunder Punch attack. The moves collide, smoke emitting from the two attacks. As soon as the smoke clears, both of them looking perfectly fine.

Alex walks over.

{Alex} 'Huh..she's not here..?'

I look over.

"She? As in Natalie?"

He nods.

{Alex} 'Have you seen her?'

"No, sorry."

{Alex} 'It's fine..'

"Hey, she'll be fine. She has Slakoth, Poochyena, and Ralts with her. They'll protect her."

He nods.

{Alex} 'Hope you're right.'

I walk over and sit next to Combusken. I grab the egg, and set it in my lap. Elekid would run over, sitting next to me, Taillow also would come over, we all sit in a very small circle. The egg randomly starts to crack just a little bit.

"Huh?"

{Alex} 'It's hatching..?'

Somewhere in Petalburg woods..Natalie would be facing a mushroom looking pokemon, It would have beady black eyes and a half-triangle-shaped mouth. Its upper body is beige with frilled segments along the bottom and a small opening at the top. There are green spots marking its upper body, while its lower body is completely green. It has small, round feet and no visible arms or hands.

{Natalie} 'Woah, that looks cool.' She would send out Poochyena.

{Natalie} 'Poochyena, use Tackle!'

Poochyena charges at the pokemon, and tackles it, knocking it into a tree behind it.

The pokémon would release an orangeish looking aroma.

{Natalie} 'That's Stun Spore! Poochyena, jump back!'

Poochyena jumps backwards from where it had been.

{Natalie} 'Now, use Tackle then go into a Bite attack!'

Poochyena tackles the pokemon again, and then bites it.

She grabs a pokeball, and throws it at the pokémon. The pokeball shakes a couple times, then stops.

She smiles, and walks forward grabbing the pokeball. She sends out the pokémon and picks it up. She returns Poochyena, then starts walking back to the pokemon center, and spots me and Alex.

Natalie runs up to us, holding the brand new pokemon she caught, also seeing the egg crack.

{Natalie} 'The egg is hatching?'

The egg cracks some more. The shells soon fall off of the egg, revealing a red and white pokemon. The pokémon would have a red to black body covered in white fur. It'd have a ruff around its neck and chest and a tuft on the top of its head adorned with a single red-black oval. It has a feline face with almond-shaped, red eyes, a scythe-like tail, and a crescent shaped horn on the side of its head. Its broad feet are equipped with three claws each, and spikes protrude from the heels of its hind legs and the elbows of its front legs. The pokémon looks up at me, looking tired.

I put my hand on its head, and pet it.

{?} 'Absol!' It leans forward licking my cheek.

{Alex} 'That's an Absol, but it looks different..'

"Absol?" I grab my pokédex.

{Pokédex} 'Absol the dark type pokemon, Absol lives in the mountains far from civilization, and rarely ventures down from its alpine home. Using its horn, Absol is able to sense even subtle changes in the sky and the land to predict when a disaster will occur, and will try to warn people when one is approaching. This often has the unfortunate effect of Absol itself being blamed for the disaster, notably by the elderly.'

I look at the pokémon Natalie was holding.

{Pokédex} 'Shroomish the grass type pokemon, Shroomish live in damp soil in the dark depths of forests. They are often found keeping still under fallen leaves. This pokémon feeds on compost that is made up of fallen, rotted leaves. Shroomish senses danger, it shakes its body and scatters spores from the top of its head.'

{Natalie} 'So, you're a Shroomish huh?' She smiles at it.

{Shroomish} 'Shroomish!'

"Absol, would you like to travel with us?" I smile, a bit.

{Absol} 'Absol!' It nods its head.

"Alright!" I smile, grabbing a pokeball. I press the button of the pokeball up against its head, and Absol goes inside it, the pokeball starts shaking a couple times, then stops.

I smile, sending Absol out of its pokeball. "Welcome to the team, Absol."

{Absol} 'Absol!'

{Natalie} 'You, too, Shroomish.' She smiles.

{Shroomish} 'Shroomish!' It says, looking happy.
