The fight back
The demon soldiers who successfully infiltrated the human world with their ship went into the town of Brenoún the magic town in Paris where the council was located after their fight with Melissa, Brilda, and the women from the council and caused havoc; they destroyed houses, killed some men, women, and children who couldn't use portals to escape and set fire to the buildings. That night they celebrated their first victory in capturing the town as they set their sights on the capture of other towns in France and the human world at large.
The following morning Sarah and the rest of them present at the council left in twos by portal to the top floor of the council building that was still devoid of the presence of the demon soldiers, after they got there Sarah and Melissa readied the portal to the Inter-dimensional access control room to undo the binding spell she used on the magic device so they could transport to the Angelic realm. They were about to leave when they saw a large portal open outside just in front of the council building that normally wouldn't have been possible to create except with the use of a relic; they waited for a while observing it from the top floor above when they saw a large group of soldiers run out and headed for the demon ship that was a few meters ahead of them to engage the demon soldiers. The demon soldiers and Zalon were all taken aback by the attack so they were slow to respond, the battle commenced with the human soldiers landing the first blow defeating the first set of demon soldiers that were sent out from the enchanted ship.
"What's going on? and who are they?" asked Kylian who was 14 at the time making him the youngest of the children.
"We're as confused as you are," Sarah said as she enhanced her eyesight trying to closely observe the battle below. As they all watched they saw the council chairman Mr. Deschampps riding a horse through the portal with his staff in his hand blasting through the enemy barriers with spells creating room for the soldiers to advance in their attacks.
"It's the chairman, it seems he got our message," Mrs. Delphine said excitedly.
"Then we'll just have to go down there and join the battle," Sarah said.
"We're coming with," Peter said.
"No you guys stay here and hold this" Sarah said giving Peter a rare Jade relic that would allow them to create a portal to the Angelic realm. "It'll help you create a portal to the Angel people after I disable the spell I used downstairs. Once things seem to be going off down there at the battle I need you guys to leave to the Angel race and convince them to come to help us".
"But with all our combined efforts we stand a chance" Peter retorted.
"No Peter!" said Sarah fiercely. "We cannot underestimate the demon forces, they are the strongest race for a reason now do as I say. OK?"
"I will," said Peter in a shrill voice. After Sarah finished addressing Peter, Alice ran over to hug her crying.
"Protect yourself, mom," Alice said.
"I will dear, now you guys lay low so you don't get their attention," Sarah said. "Melissa, take the charge and join the battle, I'll go undo the spell and open the Inter-dimensional access and join you guys after".
"Sure thing," Melissa said after which she left with Brilda, Mrs. Delphine, and Madame Grace to join the battle. Peter, Alice, Claire, Adrien, Marie, and Kylian waited quietly as they observed the battle from above; the human soldiers and mages that came through the portal who were reinforcements from Belgium and Luxembourg alongside Sarah who had entered the fray and her team were having the upper hand till Lord Zalon and a demon Priest came out from within the ship. Zalon raised his hands and muttered a spell and instantly multiple blasts of lightning riddled the battleground affecting only the human attackers; he raised his hands to do the same spell but Sarah and Melissa jumped on the ship which took his attention from the battleground.
"It seems you have come to die, Sarah," Zalon said.
"You still remember my name?" said Sarah with a smirk.
"You're impossible to forget, being the only person to have broken my defenses, manipulatively convinced dungeon guards, and destroyed my strongest enchantment in that escape a while back," he said.
"What could I have done, I was desperate," Sarah said smiling.
"But now you escaped only to come and die by my hands," he said as he stretched his hand and blasted her with an energy bolt which she reflected dispelling the soldier who came on board. The priest raised his staff and hit it on the ground and Vines followed binding Melissa's legs but before he could curse her Sarah used a smoke spell to block their vision and freed Melissa before it cleared.
"Neat trick Sarah," Zalon said as he attempted to blast Sarah again and this time he was successful as a demon mage that snuck on board struck her from behind with a temporal paralysis spell immobilizing her and prompting Zalon's energy bolt to blast her off the ship and send her crashing into the ground. Melissa who was busy with the priest saw what had happened and quickly set up a protective barrier blocking the priest from attacking her then she turned and bellowed "FLAMMEUM!" and a large flaming spear appeared piercing the demon mage burning her and maiming her against the ground. Zalon ad the priest combined efforts and broke Melissa's protective barrier but she wasn't there; she had already jumped off the ship in search of Sarah. She searched the ground while also fighting off demon soldiers and she saw Sarah who was already getting up to her feet holding her head.
"Are you ok?" Melissa asked.
"Doing better than you at least" said Sarah giggling. They climbed the ship again and this time as they surfaced they shot the priest with a curse but he deflected it and it hit a demon soldier down below in the battle. Zalon who was at the front of the ship raining multiple lightning blasts didn't notice they had gotten back on and were already engaging the priest so it was two against one. The priest being a strong mage bellowed;
"Skiljanà" and he immediately separated into two. Neither Sarah nor Melissa recognized the spell he used because it wasn't their magic tongue it was something different, an ancient language that was exclusive to only demon Priests belonging to the order of Priests. They began hurling spells at each other non-stop, they were careful not to use curses as it would greatly reduce their magic energy; because of the separation spell the priest used he became weaker leaving himself vulnerable but facing defeat at the hands of Sarah and Melissa wasn't the end game it was greatly reducing the number of human soldiers and mages coming through the portal. When he saw he could no longer keep up with Sarah and Melissa he quickly retracted his other half and with a forbidden technique he jumped from the ship into the battle and in the ancient tongue he bellowed "SVÍDA!" and his body exploded killing some of the demon soldiers but majorly the human soldiers as the spell was a targeted one. The blast knocked Zalon off his feet and he crashed into the pole at the middle of the ship, Melissa and Sarah weren't affected as they quickly set up a protective barrier the moment he jumped so they were protected but the same could not be said for the human forces who died in the battle, but still the battle continued despite the huge loss the humans took. Brilda felt the effect of the explosion as she was missing her left arm, Mrs. Delphine's vision became blurry and she couldn't hear a thing but despite that, they were fortunate because Madame Grace didn't survive the blast. She was already aging, at fifty-eight years making her the oldest serving member of the council and despite the enormous will and fight she had in her, she was still human and there was only so much her frail body could take. Mr. Deschampps wasn't affected by the blast as he was close to the portal, he kept on fighting, swinging his staff, and muttering spells; he was going strong till he was knocked down from his horse by a demon mage. When he fell he couldn't find his feet leaving him to be trampled to death by the heat of the ongoing battle. Melissa and Sarah quickly picked up Zalon and with a spell, they conjured an enchanted lock binding him with it, but before they could open a portal to the top of the council building a demon witch from within the deck caught them off guard grabbing Melissa's scarf and holding Sarah's coat and she disappeared with them leaving Zalon behind. Zalon with the help of a demon mage freed himself and joined the battle as he rained Lightning bolts on the human forces. Alice from above who was using enhanced vision saw what had happened and she instantly began crying, she created a portal to the ship and before it closed Peter ran through it following after her.
"From your eyes, I can tell you're Sarah's daughter," Zalon said as he saw Alice and Peter come out from the portal.
"Where did that witch take her?" she asked.
"You'll have to beat that information out of me," said Zalon laughing sinisterly.
"And I will," Alice said as her hand lit with an indigo color suggesting she was going to use the torture spell but before she could strike him with it Peter created a portal and pulled her through it, and in the blink of an eye they were back on the top floor of the council building.
"Leave me, Peter, I have to save her" Cried, Alice.
"I'm in as much pain as you are and I badly want to go back for her Alice but she gave us clear instructions and this is what we must do," Peter said struggling to hold back his tears.
"As much as it hurts me to say this; he's right Alice we can't go back for them with the current situation of things and besides your mom and Mrs. Melissa are the strongest people I know," Adrien said. "So they'll be fine. But for now we have to stick to the plan or we won't be able to save our world".
"Your world, not mine, I want to go back for my mother," Alice said fiercely.
"It's not what your mom would've wanted," Claire said as she walked towards Alice and hugged her. "Let's do as she instructed, I'm sure we'll see her again".
Zalon lost sight of Alice after she went through the portal and he went back to the battle but at that point, the human soldiers and the mages that were left had already retreated through the portal, and then he smiled to himself because he knew he had succeeded in winning the battle and capturing Brenoún which will make him of more use to the Demon Lord and an excuse to live longer.
