École de Magie

"The École de magie popularly called Nazaire after its founder Nazaire Beaulfoy is located in Lyon having Its access point in the district of Fourvière and was founded in 1479. It has..." Mr. Pierre was explaining after which he was interrupted.

"I don't think we should get into all the details, after all this isn't a permanent arrangement," Melissa said, then she proceeded to walk ahead of them visibly irritated. After they entered the school grounds he showed them to their cottage outside the school building as they requested. It was a magical cottage similar to the one Melissa had back at the demon realm, it was located a little distance from the school building and was surrounded by the finest of dandelions. The interior was also very beautiful and sparkling with colorful silk materials spread on some parts of the cobblestone walls and glowing pearls that provided illumination and decor to the place, it had a big living room with a large table at the center of it housing a magical flower vase that produced flowers of medicinal value which died off after sunset and regrew at dawn. The cottage had four rooms belonging to each of them with journals of the school placed on their beds and a lamp at the corner of the room that automatically turned on after sunset. They settled in and later that day they were taken on a tour of the school grounds. It was a large castle and the compound was so big it looked like an estate out in the country although the Castle was a little old it was obvious that the materials used in building the castle were of the best quality. The school compound also accommodated a clock tower that stood almost twenty feet tall with a stairway that led up to the top of it. They made their way into the hallway and didn't find a single student around.

"Where are all the students?" Alice asked.

"They're in the School hall waiting for your arrival. It is a school tradition to properly welcome and introduce new staff at the Great Hall of Nazaire" Mr. Julien the groundskeeper said. As they approached the hall they could hear mumbling and just then Peter stopped and began to breathe heavily.

"Are you okay Peter?" Alice asked worriedly.

"I think he's having an anxiety attack," Sarah said rushing over to him. She picked a piece of petal she got from the vase back at the cottage from her coat and forcefully put it in his mouth, it was almost like she knew someone would need it. After a couple of minutes, Peter calmed down and was okay again.

"Let me guess, you're scared?" Sarah asked.

"Honestly I am, I thought I could do this but it seems like I can't," Peter said.

"Don't say that, just know you can do absolutely anything you put your mind to ok?" Sarah assured him. Peter got up and they entered the Hall, immediately they got in, the voices they were hearing stopped and a great silence greeted the Hall.

"Welcome! to the Great Hall of Nazaire," Mr. Pierre said as the echo carried his voice all around the hall. The four of them got to the podium and stood facing the students. "To my far left is Mrs. Sarah Burton and standing next to her is Master Peter Grimm followed by Miss Alice Burton and finally Mrs. Melissa Winston and they'll be your new offense magic teachers," Mr. Pierre said. Shortly after the silence broke as murmuring filled the hall.

"I should be older than those two," said Laurent Blanc a year five student, and great laughter echoed throughout the hall.

"Silence!" the principal said and the hall returned to the peaceful silent state attained when Sarah and her family walked in. "For such unruly behavior you will be punished by your new teacher Miss Alice Burton," the principal said. He purposely wanted Alice to dish out Laurent's punishment so it could hurt his pride the more since she was a girl.

"What will she do?, shoot Daisys at me?" Laurent said and laughter broke the silence once more. Laurent walked majestically to the podium as he was sure he would embarrass the so-called teacher.

"Draw out your wand?" Laurent said to Alice.

"I don't use a wand" Alice replied.

"Then I'll make this quick" Laurent said with a malicious smile growing on his face.

"Ventoso! Laurent bellowed as his wand emitted a green spark and a bolt of wind was hurled at Alice, but she stretched out her open hand and absorbed the spell. Surprise filled the faces of the students as he was known to be a bully and ventoso was his strongest spell. Ventoso is a very powerful spell in the hands of a powerful magic caster, a gust of wind blasts the opponent away or raises the opponent in the air and slams them against the ground leaving them decapitated, but since humans weren't particularly powerful offense magic users it was a trivial spell.

"Viticat! Alice muttered as the podium vibrated and Vines appeared beside Laurent and tied him up so he wasn't able to move. Alice walked up to him and gave him a sound slap across his face and walked back to her initial position next to Peter, everyone was in awe and shock at the incident until the Vines unraveled taking Laurent's trousers leaving him with just his underwear and shirt and another bout of laughter flooded the hall again. Laurent couldn't stand the embarrassment and attempted to curse Alice but Melissa came out and blocked the curse as she was paying attention to the boy almost like she knew he'd react in that manner and she bellowed "ego dolorem" it was the same spell she used on Peter and Alice the first time they met, it increases the effect of gravity on the opponent while causing excruciating pain. He collapsed to the ground and began to writhe in pain. As he fell down the laughter ceased and the Principal pleaded with her to stop but she refused as she was deriving pleasure from tormenting the boy.

"Mel please stop, that's enough" Sarah pleaded, then she stopped. The boy was immediately rushed to the infirmary as he was bleeding from his eyes, nostrils, and ears.

"Although this institution doesn't condone the use of such spells in disciplining the students we also do not tolerate the use of curses by anyone especially students. You may now return to your classes" The Principal said. There wasn't a single voice to be heard only the sound of footsteps as the students left the hall to their classes. The event at the podium made all the other teachers including the Principal fear Melissa because the fact that she could use a spell as terrifying as that on a child without remorse made them see Melissa as a monster but she didn't even care as she had hate in her heart for all humans with Peter being the only exception.

After the teachers had left The Principal assigned classes to the four of them.

"Sarah and Peter you'll be teaching the year five students. They were divided into two groups because of their number so Sarah you'll take the 5a class and Peter you'll handle the 5b class. He gave Year six to Melissa and year four to Alice.

"And what about the year one to year three students will they be involved?" Peter asked.

"Of course, they will but I'll start them off with light spells thank you very much" The Principal replied "also soldiers from the magic defense unit will arrive in the evenings thrice a week, I'll need both of you to teach them," The Principal said referring to Sarah and Melissa.

"Melissa please don't lose your head as you did earlier, remember they're humans, very fragile beings," Sarah said. They proceeded to leave the hall and made their way to the classes they were assigned. They had difficulty finding the classrooms but they eventually found them with help from Mr. Julien.

Sarah entered the class and greeted them but they responded hesitantly, they were still in shock as to what had happened to Laurent.

"I know you guys aren't very happy with what happened at the Great Hall and I'm very sorry, I apologize on Mrs. Melissa's behalf," Sarah said.

"No need to say sorry he deserved it, he tried using a curse knowing well the implications of what they could do," a student said.

"I'm glad we understand each other, what's your name?" Sarah asked walking towards the student.

"Maisie Williams" she responded with a beautiful smile.

"That doesn't sound French, and your accent... you're from England I guess," Sarah asked.

"Yes I am, I'm from Birmingham and I moved here because my father recently got a job here" she responded.

"That's very nice Maisie," Sarah said. Sarah started by getting to know the names of the forty students in her class and although they weren't very welcoming at first they all later took a liking to her before her first class ended but it wasn't the same for Melissa, the class didn't hate her for what she did to Laurent they loved her for it as Laurent was the terror of the school he bullied younger students brutally and even his weaker classmates, he once bullied a student to the point the student attempted suicide but the school authorities kept it under wraps, so they were pleased he wasn't going to be around for quite a while. What made the student distant from Melissa was that they were all terrified of her, only a few students liked her because they thought they understood her. As for Alice and Peter, all the students liked them very much and everyone wanted to attend their classes even students from lower classes snuck Into their classrooms to see them teach. Some of the female students took a particular liking to Peter not just because he could do cool spells and joke a lot but also because he was a very handsome lad and had a British accent which felt like music to their ears the male students were also lovestruck at Alice's beauty to the point that some students argued and fought over who her favorite student was.

Humans had weak control over offense magic but did very well with healing techniques.

They used wands and staffs to channel their magic. And please drop a comment on how you think I should improve. cheers ❤️.
