Chapter 9

~Alison's P.O.V.~

The next day I walked into work and did the normal routine. I saw Mills going down the hallway and I was going his way

"Mills!" I exclaimed as I grabbed his arm and dragged him to the room where the beds were at

"You okay?" I asked

"I just told everyone else" He seemed down

"And?"

"Well they didn't take it so well"

"I'm sorry"

"Don't worry about it. So what's up with you miss happy sunshine?" He asked

"Well me and Jay are getting together. Not now but soon" I said with a big smile

"You and Jay are getting together?" He asked loudly

"Shhh keep it on the down low"

"Wait isn't he engaged to Cindy"

"He broke up with her last night"

"He broke up with-" He once again began to say loudly

"Shhh keep it down" I once again said

"With Cindy?"

I nodded "Well you know what I'm not gonna judge. I'm happy for you" He said as he smiled

"Thank you. But don't tell anyone okay your the only person I told"

"Surprised you didn't tell Kelly"

"Eh he's a loud mouth" I said as I shrugged

He chuckled "Alright my lips are sealed"

"Thanks. And when do you leave?" I asked

"This is my last shift"

I frowned

"Hey it's okay" He said

I nodded "I know"

We walked out and back to the large room. I grabbed a plate of breakfast and sat down I only ate a little bit when the intercom went off

"Truck 81. Squad 3. Ambulance 61. House fire. New York street"

I put my fork down and ran to the truck. I put my gear on as we headed to the scene. Once we got down the flames were igniting and taking over the entire house

"Someone is still inside! Please help them! I saw movement" A man frantically said

"Who are you?" Boden asked him

"I'm the neighbor"

"Okay go inside. Search the perimeter" Boden demanded

We all began to head to the door

"Squad take the basement. Truck take the house" Kelly said

"Alright Alison your with me" Matt said

I followed close behind him while we entered the house. I entered the house following closely behind Matt. We went to about the middle of the hallway

"You take the room on the right I will take the left" Matt said

I nodded and walked into the room on the right. The flames were beginning to really take over

"Chicago Fire Department call out!" I yelled. I searched throughout the flames until I saw someone laying on the ground. I ran over and grabbed them as I walked over to the door. I gasped when I was suddenly breathing the smoke. I luckily made it through the door

"Matt!" I yelled

Matt came out of the room empty handed and helped me with the victim

I continued to cough "My mask!"

"Go! I got this!" He yelled back

I quickly ran straight to the door. Once I made it out I continued to cough. Right behind me Matt came out with the victim

"What happened?" Chief Boden asked

"My mask. It's busted"

Chief just simply looked away

"The building is clear Chief" Kelly said

"Alright, put that fire out so we can go home" Boden said

Everyone scattered to do their jobs. I sighed and helped them. Once we got back to the station I went to the equipment room I checked the rest of my things and they were clear. But there was only something wrong with my mask. A clear cut on the side. I didn't make this. And to make a cut on the mask you would really need to put some work into it. I sat down and wondered

I walker in to the firehouse to see a young guy behind the stove

"And who's this?" I asked putting my bag down as I approached him

"I'm the new candidate. Jimmy Borelli" He said as he stuck out his hand

"Alison Severide" I shook his hand and walked over to his side to see what he was making

"Severide as in-"

"Yes as in Kelly Severide's twin sister from squad 3 and don't say I look just like him because I don't think I look anything like him even though we're twins" I grabbed a strawberry he cut and ate it

He laughed

"Alison"

I turned to see Chief peaking through the door

"Can I speak to you in my office?" He asked

I nodded and followed him. He walked in and sat on his chair as I stood in front

"What's going on?" I asked

"For the passed couple weeks you had some problems with your equipment"

"Chief" I began but he cut me off

"Twice your tank has run out so quickly and once your mask"

"Chief I swear to you I checked my equipment before I left and after. I did not mess with it"

"I know that. But this is an issue we need to sort out. Now I had no choice but to turn this case to the main department. Chief Riddle is going to be handling this case"

I sighed. No way

"And his decision is that he is going to suspend you until further notice"

"Are you serious?" I asked putting my hands on my hips

"I have no control over this. Trust me if I had I would not suspend you"

I nodded. I knew I couldn't argue. That would make matters worse "Right"

I turned around and walked straight out in frustration. I walked to the big room and grabbed my bag but everyone noticed my behavior

"Hey what's wrong?" Kelly asked as he approached me

"I'm suspended" I said throwing my bag over me

"What? How? Why?" He asked

"Chief Riddle is handling my case about my equipment. And he decides to suspend me until further notice"

"What the hell he can't do that" Kelly said

"Yea well Chief Riddle can do whatever he wants. And I have a feeling he's after my badge" I said before walking out

If I'm right. If Riddle is after my badge, there's no way I can get out of this. But I'm not going down without a fight
