What happened in the Alley

The alley was narrow with enough space for three people standing shoulder to shoulder against the walls and it reeks of drunkards and trash. The lane had two openings. One from where we entered and the other which lead to the corrupt side of town.

Jeran had warned me not to cross sides and Jeran's words meant the world to me. But I knew that if I left now, then that elf won't ever repay for the loaf he stole. I know it's dumb, most people would not go so far for 10 Ono* but that was my pay for today.

The sun crossed the sky; the birds headed to their nests; I didn't have much time left before I had to be home. But the men that surrounded me didn't look like they cared.

Sweat started rolling down my face. I was hungry from all the chasing earlier and breaking the spell took way more energy than I expected.

"Hey Steven, your little kitten is drenched. why don't you take her off the leash?" the annoying demon started teasing Steven

"No, don't let her go yet" another of the mafia interrupted the mocking.

I knew that face. He...he's Joseph. He is the younger brother of the head of the Yamaguchi. I have to go; I can't beat him; he's rumoured to be a monster.

"Little Steven, did you think you could run away?" he continued "if you are gone who's gonna take care of your sworn brother?"

"I... I am sorry don't hurt Yami. I beg you."

BAM... I knocked out the man standing closest to me. He was closing in and was making me overly uncomfortable. This caught everyone's attention.

"Did she do that?" asked the man who was gripping on to Steven and walking towards me.

"RELEASE" yelled Steven," run now, there is no reason for you to get caught in my mess!!!"

"HEY GIVE THE LOAF BACK. YOU THIEF!!!", I yelled, " Wait, where am I? Who are you guys?"

"Do you really not know where you are little girl?" asked Joseph.

"AHH... There you are, you thief."

"You really are a dumb girl," Steven said in a cocky tone.

Seeing me act as though I knew nothing of what happened today, the men let their guard down.

BAM... BWAK. Sand, dust and blood flew into the air as I tasted my salty sweat, bleurgh. Sounds of attack and cries pulsated throughout the alley.

In the midst of this chaos, I knew I hit Joseph as I grabbed the two boys.
