Love at first sight

Last week, my sister was watching a tv drama. I just had nothing better to do at that moment so I joined her, mind you— I just happened to be free at that time! By no means was I interested in a girlish high school drama!

So in the first episode the protagonist scored the highest in entrance exams and was to present a speech on inaugural ceremony.

She got lost on her way to school and the ceremony was closing in. In a fit of rush she drops the speech paper somewhere on the road but fortunately arrives to school at the nick of time.

It is then, when she realizes that her speech sheet is missing— but that does not faze her and nevertheless she gives the speech that she memorized, word to word very confidently.

Her brilliance was admired by all the students and she even achieved a short moment of praise...How come short? Watch 'Skip and loafer' to find out more!

Continuing back to the story— My speech went without a hitch. I used simple, and easy to understand words while at the same time making appropriate hand gestures, and maintaining eye contact with the audience.

I spoke as if I wasn't speaking to a crowd, but to a person as whole. This perspective made others listen to me earnestly and nod heads as if we're sitting and talking next to each other. From the diligent students to the ones who don't really bother to study—

All had their eyes fixated on me. The slight nervousness that I felt before giving speech vanished into thin air upon getting on stage.

"—And that is all... I really look forward to spending the next three years in this school— together with EVERYone."

Upon the completion of the speech I bow to the audience. My eyes were down but my ears were high. I couldn't see it, but I could hear it— my efforts echoing among the huge round of applause from the audience.

I could taste my efforts bearing fruit. The last two years that I spent on myself...wasn't for naught. And that makes me genuinely happy.

As I walk back to my seat, everyone on my way praises me at my face. From girls, to boys— they all had look of amazement.

"That was awesome dude! Would you care to join Public speaking club?"

"Please give me your number next time! You were super amazing out there!"

"You're so tall, and handsome. I bet you'll be popular among the girls. What do you say about joining the basketball team?"

—And blah, blah and blah! I thank them all for their compliments one by one and continue walking back to my seat when amidst among the praises, I hear someone say—

"Good for you, the drama seemed to have been of help."

It was a woman's voice. I swiftly turn back to see who said it but all I could see were students admiring me with sparkle in their eyes.

Did I mishear it? That couldn't be possible. Was the original creator of the drama cursing me for using his/her idea without giving any proper credits? Or did I really misheard a praise for sarcasm?

I chose to think that it must be my mind playing games on me and then silently return back to my seat.

After ceremony, the teachers guided us to our classes. After reaching to our class, the classmates were to present their introduction and get to know each other.

Unexpectedly I was surrounded by my classmates right after sitting on my desk.

"You're that handsome guy who gave the entrance speech right! You were fantastic out there!"

"Did you really memorise that 10 minutes speech entirely? Dude that's dope!"

"I l-look forward to spending my time with you! I-if you don't mind it then can we exchange line ids? O-of course as fellow classmates! —I swear I don't have any ulterior moments! Seriously!"

Gosh I'm super popular on my first day! How many girlfriends should I make? I wonder.

While everyone was asking me a shit ton of questions, the homeroom teacher was yelling her lungs out on everyone

"—GET BACK TO YOUR SEATS! HOMEROOM IS STARTI— COUGH, COUGH!"

At the same time I felt something light, like a paper ball hitting my head. I turn back to find that blonde haired guy from earlier this morning waving his hand at me and possibly saying something... What was his name again—

—Yan Xia! It seems like we ended up in the same class. But he was sitting in the far back seat by the window and didn't really get much attention.

However the seat next to him was surrounded by my classmates. Was the person sitting next to Yan Xia someone popular? Or good looking? The teacher shouted above her lungs once again, this time to the crowd at the back.

The crowd disperses and a beauty is revealed!

Jinghe Lu: "—!"

My heart... Skipped a beat upon seeing her. This feeling was different from the one I felt after meeting Yan Xia.

I knew at that moment— it was love at first sight.
