A lasting impression

It was the day of my high school's entrance ceremony. Of course I dropped out of middle school before graduating but my Aunt somehow managed to pull strings and get me administered into high school.

Thanks to my two year's worth of effort— I managed to pass the entrance exam with the flick of a finger. Lan Qi'e, the high school at which I applied for is said to have one of the toughest entrance exams.

But having studied material, 3 years ahead of what I was supposed to learn, the exam was easy as pie. I scored the highest in entrance exam and so I was to give a speech on the day of inaugural.

Today was the day— when I would make my comeback in this society after going underground for two years. My family shifted to a different district because of mother's job, so the chances that I would run into anyone I know from middle school was slim.

This was a great opportunity for me, to begin a clean and fresh start. If I wanted to aim for the top then the entrance speech was my first step towards reaching that point.

Usually people forget the student who prepares the entrance speech. Only a few diligent students remember that person as a potential rival because speech givers are usually smart students.

But that's not what I desire— I wanted each and every single person present that day to burn my image into their minds! I have to, if I'm aiming for the top it has to be done.

Fortunately my day started smoothly, Although I was unfamiliar with the area so i got lost quickly. I made a mistake while using Google Maps but I somehow managed to reach on time.

"So this is Lan Qi'e high school! God, it looks so gorgeous! It's nothing compared to the middle school I attended."

—I stood in front of school gate in complete awe. I was dazzled by the school infrastructure— it almost looked like a university you see in dramas and movies.

"—You should expect nothing less from one of the top schools in China."

Said someone behind me. I turn back to find a familiar looking tall and handsome boy with gorgeous eyes and soft, fluffy hair.

Jinghe: "You...you're the guy I saved from getting hit by a truck on my way back!"

Yan Xia: "Aah—Yeah. I didn't properly get the chance to express my gratitude because you rushed here. I'm sure it's not an exaggeration but you saved my life

—If you hadn't pulled me back by my collar back then, I would've been reincarnated in a parallel world for sure—Please allow me to express my deep Gratitude. I'm Yan Xia...that uniform— it looks like we'll by studying together. I look forward to it!"

Jinghe: "—!"

This time, the school's beauty was nothing compared to the dazzling glow that this boy radiated.

He was handsome, polite and cheerful. Truly a woman's man. His smile attracted me to him like a magnet...I knew at that moment—

Jinghe: "My name is Jinghe Lu. It was my pleasure to help you. I look forward to spending time with you...Yan Xia."

I knew at that moment—

Yan Xia: "Hmm...Jinghe... Jin. Can I call you Jin? That's a splendid sounding name!"

Jinghe: "—URK! MY HEART!"

Yan Xia: "J-Jin! Are you alright?"

Jinghe: "D-Don't worry about me... I'm fine."

A pretty boy, polite manners, kind disposition and dazzling aura. If he were a girl, no doubt I would've fallen for him. But since I am to join this school and aiming for the top— he is a potential obstacle towards realizing my ambition.

I knew at that moment, I would NEVER come to like this boy. But he is dazzling, and seems sociable.

Someone like him is bound to get popular— I can use him...use him very well-

—Use him to get on TOP.

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

I take a deep breath and let it out. I spent last two years on myself, using every ounce of effort to perfect myself.

And today was the day when my efforts would speak.

I take a step forward and walk across the school gate— when suddenly the wind blows faster.

Everyone's hair was dancing along the wind and the women, from teachers to students had their jaws hanging loose.

I could sense eyes on me from four directions— Awe, envy, admiration and lust. I could sense it all.

Everybody's focus was me, a 6 feet tall good looking boy. I notice one of the girls daydreaming and staring at me while holding a hand mirror and rubbing the lipstick across her cheeks.

I chuckle upon the seeing the sight— and since my attention was away I accidentally bump into a guy.

"—Wha— hey you piece of shit! Can't you walk straight!.... Apologize...now...."

He was a shabby looking guy wearing improper uniform. He must be a delinquent who tried to pick a fight with me because of my fault.

But surprisingly enough he slowly stops his sentence and stares at me blank— possibly gawking at my face. Was he admiring my looks? Or was it because I was taller than him? I don't know. But I do know one thing for sure—

—That I wasn't being looked down upon.

Jinghe Lu: "Allow me to apologize. I was not paying attention ahead...please forgive me, brother."

I deemed it suitable to apologize rather than fight with him unnecessarily. I don't want to ruin everyone's impression of me on the first day so I chose polite words.

"M-My bad dude... I should be the one who paid attention... "

His tone turned softer and his words were friendlier. I was impressed by myself for handling the situation smartly.

After bowing to him I walk away, this time with my gaze ahead.

"Now begins the real battle..."

—I say to myself while clenching my fist.

"—To the auditorium!"

I will impress everyone with my speech.

—To Be Continued—
