First Job In Agua

Got Jisoo to agree that we don't kill people without proper cause. She doesn't mind the killing but I do. It isn't right to uselessly kill people without cause. So we agreed on accepting jobs that do not involve too much fighting.

I kinda feel bad for doing this. I have to push some of her buttons and increase her favorability. I have no status for that, but there are tell-tale signs that it has increased. Four days have passed since we moved in together. She's a good roommate. We get along well considering that we just hooked up.

We split the chores. I cleaned her apartment the next day we arrived. We alternate on who should cook and who should do things. It was my turn to cook so I served beef fry and maize.

After we ate I drove her to a fixer named Jules. Espinosa Street's number one Fixer He is a tall brown man with a goatee. He has beady eyes with a middle parted hair. He wears an unbuttoned onyx suit. When we entered he looked at Jisoo fairly surprised. Then he eyed me as if analyzing what I can do for him.

"Ms. Kim. What can I do for you?"

"Jules. Looking for some work that pays."

He motioned his chin at me.

"This is Orlov. He's my partner."

Jules opened his mouth clearly surprised.

"I'd be. Sister Kim, didn't think you'd finally swing that way."

"Jules. We don't talk about the past. Remember?"

"My bad. Well, what can I do for you two?"

He sat down. He leans back.

"So will it be the same?"

"Gotta take some heat off so I d like some low to mid-time jobs."

He taps his finger.

"I heard what happened in Pacifica. Bad business. You'll get a lot of work today now that everyone else is settled. So is the pay going to be split between you two?"

"Sure," Jisoo agreed.

The case that Jules sent us was about a problem with a low-tier gang making moves on the boating services. From the looks of it there was a problem with the boating services here. These folks were aiming to extort them.

"Strange," I said. "Almost feels like we're doing community service."

"Orlov, my new friend, there are also many lawmen who would want to care for the city. Agua is strange that most of the folks paying us are the lawmen themselves. They can't just outright murder folks or beat them to a pulp. So they hire third-party associates to help us clean this mess."

"Must love this city so much that they go this far."

"Who doesn't? Agua is a natural treasure, my new friend."

"A water gang," Jisoo muttered. "We'll take this."

"Make it done. I don't mind you folks killing them. But the client wants them beaten down. After that you just ping me so I can tell the boys to cuff the bastards."

"Sure."

We got out of Espinosa street. We followed their last known location. Jisoo and I walked side by side. She didn't carry her blade today. She still wore her favorite jacket which she really does wear all the time. Then again it has quite a protection. She berates me with the denim jacket that I got for fifty dollars.

Agua City has large canals that people here either use for transportation or commute. The communal waters of Agua were clean and were less congested than the two-lane streets. I only had to follow my radar and speak to the bystanders to know where the gangs were. Not to mention that in my mini-map radar I could see how many of them there are.

Jisoo hooked her arm around mine and nodded with a clear intention. We walked down the marble stairway and started walking to where the gang was. Seeing us walking nonchalantly to their territory without a shit to give somewhat made them angry. One of them was a thin lean man who eyed Jisoo quite lewdly. He licks the back of his bottom teeth and approaches us. The others followed behind trying to intimidate us.

"This ain't the right place for you two."

"Fuck off."

"Get the hell out."

"Now we are not unreasonable. Leave your wallets and we will pretend that you didn't do any wrongs here."

Jisoo sighed. She turned on her skull mask and mine as well. She whips her leg and shatters the jaw of the man speaking. I ducked under, switched to third-person, and made a straight punch to one of the gang. I followed the punch with a sweep and then elbowed the fucker next to me. Using my momentum I dashed to one of the last one standing and palmed him on my stomach before throwing him with my shoulder.

One of them tried to get up. Jisoo knocked him out with a kick. The rest of the fools who were on the bank gaped. They rushed at us holding pipes and switchblades. I wasn't worried about Jisoo. I got rid of the folks at my side and then checked on her. She was punching a man with her gloved fist.

"Filthy fucks. They smell like shit and they talk like shit as well."

She inspected their turf. I pinged Jules and waited for the police to come. Didn't take long until they got close to the scene. They spotted us and greeted us. "Thank you for taking your time in crushing these fools. The city is thankful for your services."

"There are still a lot of them," Jisoo said. She took out one of the idiot's phones. They seemed to have noted where their hideout was and the corresponding passcodes.

The officer discussed to us that they will be going after the rest while we'd take care of the high-profile ones. Jisoo guessed what they were after, but since she was taking the lead I followed.

There are about twelve fixed points. We took down the three in the east part of the city. By that time we had taken out seven of their hideouts. The rest of the gang members were waiting for us with pistols and shotguns. We are usually bold, but Jules added that if we keep these folks alive we'd get a better pay.

So we opted for stealth. Jisoo, who liked close-quarters combat, naturally had a way. I followed her lead. Disarmed the fools while keeping them beaten down. The rest of the operation went the usual pattern.

We arrive at a location. We beat up the thugs. We ping the officers who are waiting to take the credit. I realized halfway through that Jisoo's 'jobs' are large in scale. This was a low-mid tier job for her and yet it felt so tiring. If I wasn't watching from over a shoulder. I doubt that I'd be fine. Not to mention that dodging bullets and disarming thugs was not so easy if they fired at you first. I have a monstrous aim so throwing pebbles at their hand or throwing a rock accurately was no problem.

"You really are a dead eye," she said to me as we left the scene. We finally came to our last stop and it was quite a hidden residence enclosed in buildings. It was a double house hidden with a maze of buildings. They were clearly waiting for us so we scaled the buildings and went on the roof.

I knocked out a man with a brick and entered from the balcony. Whoever was in charge of the residence clearly was doing well. There was drug money on the top floor and from the smell Jisoo commented that they were probably selling heroin.

They also have a whiteboard where they have channels. They have duffels of money and seeing that they just left it alone. I emptied a space in my inventory slot and stored it.

[Money: $500150 ]

It didn't take long for the money to be countered. Jisoo searched the room and pocketed some of the drug money. She stared at me.

"What? It's not like they will have use for it."

"Sure."

After searching the residence we found the Boss of the gang hiding behind a safe room. He probably saw our distorted faces the moment we entered. But it was easy to crack his safe room. Jisoo punched the bastard without letting say anything and dragged him out while holding a knife around his neck. I got out of the building and said to the members. Jisoo motioned me to make them surrender.

I opened the security door. I took the pistol from their boss and fired it at them. They reacted obviously with the instinct to fire at us, but I was ready. I shot their firing hand with my bullet time and then pointed the barrel of the pistol in the air.

"Stand the fuck down and lay flat on your face. Do it fucking now or I get to shoot your kneecaps and make it damn easy for us!"

I said calmly.
