KENNETH SURPRISE

( AURORA'S POV )

Aurora had the tray of order for table six, but instead of delivering, she stood at a corner and watched the gentleman who occupied that space.

He was tall, she knew that because she'd seen him stand a couple of times. His deep brown hair was nicely and neatly positioned at the back of his neck. Aurora could tell that the man used a really expensive hair essential, with the way his hair effortlessly shone.

His face was perfect, so was his body image. He possessed a mysterious essence, almost like Henry Cavil and Idris Elba had a baby. He gave her a sherlock Holmes vibe all at once.

She'd served him more than once to notice his light blue and electrifying eyes. He had a sharp pointed nose and almond shaped lips. Each time she brought his order to his table, the man never looked at her, talk more of speak. In all honesty, his act of not noticing her was disturbing her thoughts. His full attention was fixed on his newspaper and sometimes he would glance at his watch.

He would dress so formal. And his outfit would be covered with a long jacket. Today, his jacket was brown, matching his attractive hair. His broad torso was always a figment of her stare whenever she reached him. Good thing she was wise enough not to make her attention to him obvious.

The man was a frequent customer to the restaurant that Aurora worked in. He'd casually walk into the restaurant and take his favorite spot at the far end of the room, which was void of windows.

He never had any company, he was always alone. He was always with a newspaper, reading with his medicated glasses on. His order was always black coffee and chocolate cake. Sometimes, especially on Fridays, the man would order white spaghetti and sauce.

She shouldn't know this much of a man she didn't know. The reason because her actions appeared creepy and kind of stalker-ish. She basically knew every detail of the man. There was another important reason, she had a fiance.

One that she loved to death, they'd been dating for two years.

Although Kenneth, her fiance was living in the dark, meaning that he knew nothing about the hefty secrets she was hiding, she loved him dearly. And she was positive that he loved her too.

Aurora couldn't bare to imagine what Kenneth and basically everyone living in the small town would think when they find out that she was living under a false identity. That she was living under her twin sister's name. That meant that the twins couldn't be at the same place at once.

Nobody knew the her as her birth name, which was Ava. Nobody even know she was a twin. Her sister and herself were immensely identical that it was impossible to tell them apart. That

Did Aurora feel bad about having to hide who she was from her fiance and the rest of the world? of course she did. But it was too late for her to do anything about it, her mother started the hidden actions since she was little.

Her mother, Denise was a concubine to their father who happened to a brutal and strong gang leader. Her mother was given a little house far inside the town, where their father, known as Wright Lockwood, would only visit twice a year.

And all the times Wright visited, Aurora wasn't allowed to be with her sister at the same. The hiding started at a very young age, way before Aurora could question the action. It became a part of her even as she grew, she never asked her mother.

That was also part of aurora's nature. She trusted easily, and very selfless, it was who she was. She couldn't say the same for her sister, Ava was the complete opposite.

One day, news came that their father had died. His death was an explosion. the news shook and gripped the town. Everyone was aware of where Wright belonged, and the fact that he was the acting leader of the Lock dynasty.

After wright's death, the lock dynasty seemed to have gone silent. Also, Aurora was finally allowed to move around, but there was a condition, they both cannot be in the same place at once, and she had to live with her sister's name.

Aurora always perceived that Denise, her mother was scared of their father. But why was what she didn't know, she was also his daughter.

So far so good, they'd managed to live under the same name. Ava was very smart, she was able to carry the secret very well.

" Are you gonna just stand there? " Sasha, a fellow worker and friend playfully and Intentionally bumped into Aurora.

" Geez... " Aurora snapped out of her lucid thoughts and headed for the man's table.

As she approached his table, she could smell his cologne. She could also strongly sense the black cloud of coldness and mysteriousness that surrounded him.

" Do... do you want anything else? " Aurora knew for sure she was asking just to see if she would get a response from the man.

Instead, he adjusted his glances and rigidly shook his head.

That was it, that was all she got.

Aurora was at the sink, washing her hands slowly. She was thinking about Hendris again. ( that was a nickname she came up with for the man. And she derived the name from Henry Cavil and idris Elba. )

She had to meet up her fiance at his house, they were planning to go for an late night dinner.

" Hey Ava, " Sasha pulled up behind her.

Aurora turned swiftly and folded her hands, " why doesn't he ever talk? He literally says nothing to me. "

Sasha sighed, she knew who Aurora was referring to. " He looks like a serial killer. "

" I think you watch too much of Jeffery dahmer. "

" Why are you so worked up about him? " Sasha asked winking and smiling.

Aurora began to blush, she shook her head and backed sasha as she returned to washing her hands.

" I'm just being inquisitive, that's all. Besides, I'm engaged. "

" Whatever, just stay away from that guy. He gives me really strange vibes. "

" Why? he seems... he seems normal. " Aurora was trying to make excuses for him.

" You've got to be kidding me. He comes here alone every single day, orders the same shit, he dresses weird... and__

" Okay, okay, that's enough... Jesus. " Aurora just needed a breather, she felt as though she'd been talking about Hendris way too much.

" He seems strange, just keep your distance. "

Aurora squinted for a while, briefly relating to sasha's warning as she too agreed that Hendris was strange.

" So... " Sasha began to fold her lips.

Sasha and Aurora were very close friends, infact, sasha was her only friend. She'd known her to know when she needed something.

" What do you need? " Aurora casually asked.

" I need you to cover for my shift. " Sasha rapidly said, closing her eyes.

" What? " Aurora wiped her hands dry with a rag and pulled sasha into their storage room.

" Ava... stop... " Sasha found Aurora's overprotective act to be funny.

" Don't tell me you're going to see Dylan again? "

" Dylan is dead to me. " Sasha replied.

" So why do you need me to cover for you? Where are you going? "

" A very important family meeting, my dad just came back from.... " She sighed, " From Vietnam. "

Aurora gasped, " Oh my God, You didn't tell me. "

" I don't want to talk about it now, would you cover for me? "

" Of course... of course, hurry home! "

Aurora immediately said forgetting that she had dinner plans with Kenneth.

" Thanks Ava, I love you. " Sasha said and left.

When aurora realized that she'd messed up her plans with Kenneth, she texted him. He said that he was going to meet at up the restaurant instead.

It was closing time, no one was at the restaurant, just except Aurora. She heard the bell dinged and knew instantly that it was Kenneth.

As she rushed out, she met him standing at the middle of the room, with his eyes fallen.

" What's wrong? " Aurora immediately asked.

" I'm calling off the engagement Ava, I'm leaving you. "
