Chapter six- I never want to see you again!

"Melanie, are you really sure about this?" Brody asks, looking awkward but completely gorgeous in his suit. Brody agreed to come to come to the company party but hasn't been thrilled about it.

"No... but we still have to go." I say hesitantly.

We both jump as we hear a car horn from outside.

"That'll be the Limo" I say gathering my things.

"A limo?!" Brody exclaims. I grasp Brody's hand and walk carefully down the stairs so I don't break my neck in these heels.

We pull up to the event, Brody has been quiet the whole journey, as I expected he's probably freaking out, it's not as if I've told him the greatest things about my family, he's bound to be worried about meeting them, especially my dad. We make our way through the doors into the ridiculously extravagant room and I take hold of Brody's hand and give it a squeeze, as he takes a deep breath.

"Just breathe, I promise we won't stay long" I whisper, giving Brody's hand another reassuring squeeze. The room is decorated elegantly, white chair covers with a silver bow and a beautiful crystal chandelier in the centre of the room. There's marble everywhere, a tell-tale sign this place costs a fortune. I glance around the room and spot Hannah and April, I tug Brody over towards them.

"Hey Brody, nice to see you when you've not just woken up." Hannah winks and giggles to Brody.

"Nice to see you." Brody responds confidently, looking at him you couldn't tell that he was nervous but I know he is.

"April, this is Brody." I say a little hesitant. Brody reaches forward as if to shake Aprils hand, just as she stalks away.

"You'll have to excuse our other sister, she recently seems to have a stick up her ass." Hannah talks with a straight face but I can't help but laugh.

My mother rushes over to us and engulfs me in a big hug and I see dad walking a lot slower towards us, looking back and forth between me and Brody as if trying to work something out. Oh no.

"Melanie, I am so glad you came! And who might this be?" My mom asks as my dad stands behind her.

"Hello Mrs Collins, I'm Brody Slafer" Brody shakes my mom's hand and it only just dawns on me that I didn't know Brody's last name until now. It seems kind of familiar.

"Yes, Brody is my friend mom." I say glancing at my dad, he stays silent but his eyes are blazing.

"Well it's nice to meet you, Brody." My mom smiles warmly at Brody, I can tell she approves.

"Wish I could say the same." My dad finally speaks, his voice laced with venom.

"Not now, William." My mom says awkwardly.

"So is this why you left my company Melanie? For this worthless boy?" My dad growls.

"Dad! I met Brody after I left!" This does nothing to deter my father and he lunges and punches Brody square in the face, Brody staggers back as blood trickles from his nose. Brody's arms are straight by his side, fists clenched as if he's restraining himself from punching my dad, I'm considering punching him too. I can't believe he'd do this, especially here, this is his company party.

"Dad! That's it, I'm done, I never want to see you again!" I scream grabbing Brody's arm and pulling him out of the door.

Once out of the hall tears stream down my face and I'm all over Brody checking he's okay. I can't believe my dad would do this, what a disaster, I should of never brought Brody here.

"I'm so sorry, I had no idea, I don't know what's wrong with him. Are you okay?" I sob.

"Shh, Mel, I'm fine, I promise, come on, let's take you home." Brody drapes his arm around me.

"No we need to get you to a hospital!" As I say this Brody is chuckling and I'm staring at him in disbelief.

"Melanie, It's only a nose bleed, I'm fine, come on." He smiles and tugs me to start walking.

When we get back to my apartment I clean up Brody's nose. I can't get my mind off the events of the night, I feel terrible for asking Brody to come with me tonight, I never would have if I knew it would end like this, I guess I should of expected the worst, especially since last time... I'm not waiting for my dad to forgive me now, he's the one who needs the forgiveness now.

"Hey, I'm fine, stop worrying." Brody kisses my cheek, which helps reassure me a little. I can't believe he's still hanging around after the drama I've brought him.

"Do you want to stay here tonight?" I hear myself talking but I can't believe what I'm saying. "I mean, only if you want, no pressure." I blabber awkwardly. Brody chuckles at my awkwardness.

"Hm, I think I can arrange that." Brody teases.

The next morning I wake to find myself wrapped around Brody, I watch as his chest rises and falls slowly, telling me he is still sleeping. My eyes scan his body until they reach his nose which looks much better than it did last night. My eyes fall onto his lips and I'm sure I've never seen a more perfect pair. Damn I've got it bad. Sometime in my ogling Brody wakes and is staring back at me.

"Hey." I say slightly hesitantly.

"Hey." He replies with his husky voice and a lopsided smile. It feels like I have known him forever.

"I'm so sorry for everything, Brody I never would of taken you there if I knew it would end like that! I had no idea." I shoot the words out of my mouth as fast as possible. Brody takes a second to consider what a said and just as I start to worry, he dives on top of me and tickles me to death, well almost.
