A Grandson and Grandpa moment

Looking at his Grandpa with wide eyes, Justus hand began to tremble as he opened his mouth to ask Shanks something while stuttering:

"G-Grandpa w-what-"

But before he could finish his sentence, Shanks interrupted him. Shanks looked deep in the eyes of his Grandson as he began to talk:

"Did you feel fear? Did you feel helpless? Did you feel like someone who couldn't protect himself?

Because that is the feeling of a Pirate-... No of a captain. It is the same feeling a captain has to bear every time he faces a stronger enemy.

Use this feeling you felt to become stronger, use your helplessly to become strong and someone who doesn't have to feel like who can't protect himself, become someone who can protect his people, and especially his crew.

If you don't understand it yet, you will have to learn it in another way, a more painful way than you think. Something worse than your own death." Shanks explained to his Grandson as he crouched to look him in the eyes. Even though he knew a five-year-old Justus wouldn't understand it yet, what he told him would have importance for Justus's journey in the future...

Justus nodded as Shanks turned around and began to look out for Amazon lily. But not even a minute after he turned around, Justus couldn't hold it back anymore and asked:

"G-Grandpa, what could be worse than my own death?"

Knowing this question would be asked, Shanks looked in the sky and asked:

"Justus D. Xavier, tell me. What is the main symbol of a Pirate ?" Shanks replied while cooking the Sea beast.

Dumbfounded, Justus looked at him as he simply replied:

"Uh, it is a ship, a flag, and of course a crew!"

"Haha, well said, and tell me, what is a crew for you ?" Shanks laughed out loud as he replied with an amused smile on his face.

"Uh, Grandpa, why are you asking me these questions? I am not even a pirate yet!" Of course, Justus had no answer; he was intelligent, but a 5-year-old couldn't answer this question. No... No one could answer this question. Even though everyone sees a crew differently, our Justus shall find his own answer soon...

However. as Shanks heard this answer he replied:

"Haha, Justus, if you cant give me an answer to that question, then you won't understand it. Once you find your answer, tell me. Only then can I give you the answer. But in that time, who knows, maybe you have already found it by yourself."

Shanks said while he drank his sake and cooked the sea beast. And about 40 minutes later, Shanks finished it.

"Oye, Justus, the food is ready!"

"Nice!"

As both sat down and ate, Shanks looked at the little Justus eating as he thought of his old days with Roger and Buggy.

How he and Buggy always did some bulls'it, and Reighley was grounding them afterward or how he scared Buggy and he accidentally ate the chop-chop fruit, thinking back to the old days he stopped eating and smiled at his Grandson.

Seeing him smile, Justus smiled back as Shanks began to talk out of nowhere.

"Justus, the moment you said that you want to become a pirate. I really envied you, and I still do, haha!" Shanks said with laughter, thinking about his past when he wasn't a powerhouse; he couldn't help but shook his head and smile and laugh.

"Huh? Grandpa, I don't understand?"

Why did his Granpa telling him such a thing suddenly? And why would such a powerful and successful pirate such as Shanks envy him? He couldn't understand.

"Ai, you don't understand yet, but as I said, once you will hoist your sail, you will fully understand my envy," Shanks said with a provoking chuckle.

Justus's face became grim as he jumped on his Grandpa, pretending to attack him.

"G-Grandpaaaa!"

"Woah! You are so strong, argh help the mighty Pirate Justus!"

"Haya!!"

"Nooo!"

...

Both played till they got tired as both fell asleep in each other's arms. Having this last Grandpa and Grandson, they slept until the sun rose.

As the sun rose, Justus woke up and saw an island, and as his eyes got used to the sun, he quickly jumped up and shouted out:

"Grandpa! Grandpa! We finally arrived!"

....

Yeah, guys, I hope you still like these chapters even though the training isn't starting instantly. I just want you guys to see the relationship between Shanks and Justus and that they have a pretty healthy and good connection to each other.
