His Majesty the King
This story can be considered a PARODY of all typical Cultivation stories. If you have read enough of those cultivator stories, then you will really enjoy this: its fresh, its funny and its really ridiculous. However this is also its weak point, new and moderately experienced readers probably wont enjoy lunacy of this story. Examples: 1.) evil sect is abusing mortal > in normal story MC would kill the bad guys and go on > in this story MC will chase bad guys away and then he will start abusing mortals himself!!! 2.) another example [small Spoiler ahead!] At start of story MC is weak and he has no choice but to hide behind his schemes (and insults) to make enemy go rage! Later he can change his fighting style but he doesnt, because of some ridiculous bet he makes a (devil) oath to never seriously attack anybody! So for rest of story he has to continue with his ridiculous fighting style (defense+schemes+insults) !! I was very disappointed. 3.) Majority of characters act like little kid. Characters who act wise are really rare. Even majority of sect Elders dont act like hunders years old wise men (instead they remind you of 12 year old kids). 4.) amount of s-e-x jokes is very high here. LOL Sometimes you will really laugh. But unfortunately sometimes author really forced it and you will just think "this is just vulgar and not funny". To sum it up: if you are bored and want to enjoy something new, then this RIDICULOUS story is for you. Otherwise go away, you will be disappointed.
I am giving up this novel at 78th chapter. Many reviews here are saying that this is comedy gold but it is just pure pathetic. It is forced vulgarity (which is a bit fresh after many of the other novels here). Some parts are indeed funny but many are not. Another issue is the translation quality, or rather the editor quality, which just plain sucks. You do not know whether someone is thinking in his mind or actually saying bullshit. The tenses are all messed up but it is fine since it is still understandable and does not require active effort (it still hurts). It is long. Each chapter is long and tedious to read. Useless explanations and whatnot repeated over and over and completely irrational conversations are common. There are other aspects that are good (no doubt) but these drawbacks are enough for me to give up.
This novel is so good to be true, can't take my eyes away from this. It feels like heaven to read, I wanna read it so much. If this novel got some drive, then thanked God its still alive. This novel is so good to be true, can't take my eyes away from this. I need this novel like it's quite all right. I need this novel to warm my lonely nights. Just read this novel, cause I... say... Shameless Promotion: Check out my novel: Crowning Cruel Crow. Hahaha. https://m.webnovel.com/book/crowning-cruel-crow_18100192205265505
Story is filled with video game references that feel extremely out of place. There no descriptions of anything at all. The first bit takes place in a city/town but in no way will you ever know the size of it, you’ll never know what characters look like or anything else really. As a whole it just lacks any description on anything important or unimportant
Very slow and inconsistent updates. Many times there won't be a chapter released for over a month. ..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
As of this writing, this is easily the best Xianxia story I've read so far. At the very beginning, I did feel the need to occasionally roll my eyes by how dumb things get in the earliest chapters (and it did get fairly dumb; the humor centered around sex and rape from a twelve-year-old did have a habit of leaning more towards the miss than the hit, at least during the first twenty or so chapters). However, it didn't take long for it to get smart and funny (and it gets really smart and exceptionally funny). As Wang Lu encounters and overcomes more obstacles, his irreverent shamelessness gradually comes into its own, and the character quirks that may put some people off when he's a teenager will grow into something you can't help but enjoy as he becomes older, wiser and more experienced. You'll likely end up looking back and forgive the author's lack of nuance early on; perhaps he too was still coming into his own as he was writing his story. The world of the Nine Regions in which the majority of the story takes place is vast, yet it is also small. As Wang Lu and his friends, rivals and enemies embark on undertakings of epic scale, there is never a lack of an up-close perspective to lend colour and credence to the setting. Like most Xianxia, this author often gives you a frame of reference in terms of stages and tiers of power. However more importantly, the way the novel's various societies are built up are believable (many of them are managed bureaucratically and with righeous intent, and not purely through blood and strength as with many other Xianxias), and even the minor characters often have clear and defined character traits and personalities that will frequently be plot-relevant or have consequences and pay-offs in future chapters. Because of this, moments of exposition rarely if ever come off as being generic infodumps; the story, the setting and its underlying mechanics are slowly explored as the arcs pass by, and this gradually developing story will generate many twists and turns; some of which will leave you absolutely reeling! Trust me when I say, don't let the excessive toilet humor or the wackiness of the characters and the situations they find themselves in restrain you from getting involved in this story, which is brimming with fun and personality and has one of the absolute best overarching main plots of any webnovel I have read.
