We can't be in love - 2

Fahsai stepped close to him and perhaps she was speaking to her own feelings, but she at last said, "I can understand how Botan felt, Botan might not have wanted to betray you, but she had her reasons."

"People who love each other shouldn't keep secrets from each other." Daniel argued.

"The reason could have to do with you." Fahsai said.

"That's why she should've told me." Daniel argued.

He took by the shoulders and told her, "From this moment on, we're Lovers and no matter what happens, we can't have secrets. We should tell each other everything." Daniel emphasized and she agreed. Daniel tucked her into his side and rested his chin on her head. Fahsai teared up from the lie she just told him.

His phone buzzed and he stepped away to pick it up.

"Seems like we have to be careful with that Black Book." His left hand man reported.

"I'll check to ensure the black book is still with me." Daniel said as Fahsai kept her ears peeled.

"Wait for me in the house." Daniel ordered her.

"But I want to go with you." Fahsai offered and Daniel sniffed her cheeks like he was practically taking her soul, and threatened to do more than sniffing if she didn't obey him.

"Okay." She relented and he tapped her nose affectionately.

However, without his knowledge, Fahsai followed him and peered behind a large tree. She saw Daniel taking the black book from Botan's grave and immediately phoned Fai.

"I think I know where Daniel has kept the black book." Fahsai told the latter.

"I don't know what you're going to do but I'll respect whatever decision you come to, regarding the black book. This means you can be done with Chernming once and for all." Fai said but hanged up abruptly when an unexpected visitor showed up at her doorstep. Chern Piu wasn't looking too happy about being there.

"I'm here to protect you, orders from above." He said.

"Aww, now I get to have my own bodyguard." Fai chortled.

Fahsai waited up for Daniel as he sauntered back to the house and she pretended to look all happy.

"I have some business to tend to and I'll be right back." Daniel told her.

"This is the perfect opportunity to get the black book. Why does this seem too easy?" She thought as Daniel hoped into his car.

"I'm sorry Daniel but I have to save my parents." She apologized out loud as the car turned around the bend. She made her way to the grave not knowing it was a trap all along.

"As expected, she went back to the grave." One of Daniel's guards phoned him and reported that Fahsai was falling right into Daniel's expectations. Fahsai walked over to the grave as Daniel got unsettled having heard the news.

Fahsai got on a call with Big Sis as Chern Piu stayed in the living room. She paced up and down her bedroom and Chern Piu overheard her conversation since the door wasn't shut.

"I'm worried about you Fah and you ought to tell Daniel the truth." Fai said as Piu reached her in two steps.

"What's she up to." He demanded.

"Fahsai found the black book." Fai admitted.

"That can't be..." Chern Piu could only say.

"Are you sure it's the black book?" Fai questioned Fahsai who got hold of the book. So she opened it only to find it blank.

"Fahsai!" Daniel stood right behind her, calling out her name. The pages of the book flew into the air, just like their relationship, scattered.

He recalled his father warning him not to be obsessed with her too much because she was betraying him and working with Chernming to steal the black book. At that time Daniel denied it outright, which was why he set up that scene to reveal the truth, hoping upon hopes that she wouldn't walk into it.

He flashed back to her promise not to betray him the other night. The pages of the book kept flying away until there was nothing left. Like his trust in her, Daniel walked away.

"Khun Daniel! You have to listen to me please." She rushed after him, in tears and tugged at his arm, begging him to listen to her.

"What do you have to say for yourself?" he questioned angrily. "Are you going to make excuses that you didn't mean to betray me? That you don't want to be my woman just like Botan?"

''I had to do it," she said.

"I know everything. You needed money to save your Dad, you were threatened by Chernming."

"You knew?" She cried in distraught.

"There are no secrets in this world, Fahsai. But one thing I want to know the most - what makes it so necessary that you had to keep it from me?"

"I was afraid." She said.

Daniel's tears were threatened to fall.

"I get it. And I admire your bravery, you risk your life to protect your family." His voice shook, "But if you can't trust that I can protect you, I can't trust you either."

He walked away, but Fahsai enveloped him around the middle. "I love you Daniel."

He peeled her hands away, his eyes reddened. "And I love you, Fahsai. But we can't be in love."

A motorcycle roved nearby, it was Chernming. He came dashing in and upon seeing her tears, he punched Daniel right in the jaw. Daniel welcomed the pain and the two fought. They went at it while Fahsai tried to stop them, until she ran off in tears.

"Your job is done here. Fahsai belongs to me now." Chernming told Daniel.
