Chapter Three

Ezra's POV:

"That's a story for another time." They sighed. They opened the door and it was just as beautiful as the outside.

The second I walked into Quin's house, I wished and hoped that if this was a dream, I never want to wake up. The entrance hallway was enough for me to get overjoyed. There was a black rug in front of the door and a weathered gray wood for the flooring. The walls were brick with a black wall trim that matched well with everything else.

Fairy lights were hung or placed randomly around and there was a pretty, gold-like, lantern-shaped light hanging in the center. There were shoe racks on the left side of the door and a coat-hat rack on the right. There were hooks for keys and other things on the same wall as the door but it didn't have anything on it. There were a few shelves that had random things on them such as books, plants, tiny baskets or boxes, photos, art things, etc.

Ahead from the hall was a spiral staircase with black railing and carpeted stairs. On either side was an open entrance with no doors. On the left was a cozy open kitchen with white oak cabinets and shelves. The countertop had a light gray and black swirl pattern on it and wooden knobs or handles were on all the appliances. Thank goodness there's no silver. I thought as relief flew over me.

The kitchen wall was a nice shade of light purple that went well with the random fairy lights and small lights that hung above the island. The floor was a smooth oak wood that shined against the light. Every appliance needed was on the counters and there were random baskets full of all sorts of things placed around. Some were labeled with words like 'Potions' or 'Edible.' I didn't question it considering I already knew that Quin was a part witch.

The fridge had lots of colorful magnets and notes on it. There was a calendar and a small whiteboard on the front. The whiteboard had small, cute drawings in the corners, and in the center was random dates or times. The notes I couldn't make out. They had a completely new language of some sort on them that I couldn't read. I grabbed some of the magnet letters and spelled my name. Quin looked at it in awe and patted my head again. I smiled and spelled their name right above mine.

I'm not sure what I was doing, but whatever it was, it made Quin happy so I'll try to continue to do it.

"Are you hungry at all?" Quin asked. I shook my head no even though I was starving. Before they could question further, my stomach growled. My face flushed red out of embarrassment but Quin just let out a chuckle. "Are you positive you're not hungry?" They asked with a small laugh. I looked away and slowly nodded.

I heard Quin instantly walk over to their fridge and pull some things out of it. I look up to see them making, what looks like pancakes. I was about to try to get them not to make me anything but my stomach took over. I gave in and walked over to the dining room that was connected to the kitchen with another doorway.

The dining room had a nice dark spruce green color for the wall and dark oak wood for the wall trim but was taller. There were a couple of windows with gray curtains and a few plants or books on the window sills. The table and chairs were mahogany but the chairs had cushions on them. Dimmer lights hung from above the table and there were only fairy lights near the window sills.

There were bookshelves on the farthest wall and books were filling them. I sat at the table with one of the books and waited for Quin to bring in the food. I kicked my legs back and forth as a habit but I didn't like this habit. I wrapped my legs around the chair legs and continued looking through the book.

I didn't know how to read but I liked pretending that I did. I know a few words but not all. Writing and drawing just became a hobby of mine and somewhat a needed thing after I couldn't talk. Quin came into the room with three plates and two cups floating in the air next to them. In their hands were small bowls of what smelled like syrup, fruits, and… Wolfsbane?!

I moved my senses closer and smelt witch hazel in their back pocket. The plates and cups were placed in front of me and front of a chair across from me. A plate with a stack of pancakes was placed in between us and so were two of the three bowls. The third bowl with the wolfsbane was placed next to Quin's plate. They left the room for a bit and brought in a jug of orange juice and a Blood Bag?!

What are they planning on doing to me? I knew they weren't human but Killing Me?! But what about the blood bag? Are they going to turn me into a vampire? Or maybe I have the same blood type as the blood in that bag! They are going to take my blood for sure! I started hyperventilating about the types of things this "kind" person might do to me. I was going into panic attack mode. My body was shaking and I fell out of my chair. I scrambled to the closest corner and hid myself the best I could.

Not a single good outcome or thought was brought to my vision. I started getting glimpses of my past every time I breathed. My vision was too blurry to see and everything was getting darker and darker around me. My breathing was rushed and difficult to manage.

The worst memory of my past appeared in front of me and kept replaying.

A younger version of me knelt on the floor, hugging their body. Tears ran down my face and my mouth tried to let out a scream but nothing came out. The person I was forced to call my "Father" was standing behind me with a wicked and crooked grin that haunts me every day. I was completely unclothed and my whole body hurt.

I choked out blood but I didn't make a sound as it happened. I moved my hand to my neck, stinging with even the slightest touch or movement. Blood and tears stained my hands and body. My mother came up to my side and carried me somewhere. This was when my mother still cared about my existence. Before we became rogues, she was a medic for the alpha prince.

She sewed the slice on my neck back together and put me in a hoodie that carried her scent. She went outside of the room and the only sound that could be heard around the house was my Mother and Father yelling. I couldn't move. Everything smelt and tasted like blood and alcohol. My whole body was still in pain, no matter how many drugs I got given. Everything was black. I Couldn't Speak!

This was the night my father raped and abused me. This was the night I lost my voice. Everything went black after that.
