CHAPTER 67

At the same time, in Smallville, Kansas.

In the golden wheat fields, a dark figure swiftly darted through the air, creating a strong wind pressure that flattened a large expanse of wheat.

The flattened wheat eventually formed an S-shaped pattern.

The dark figure halted its high-speed flight and ascended into the air to admire its handiwork.

In the sunlight, the true appearance of the dark figure became clear. It was a teenager, around sixteen or seventeen years old.

Compared to boys of the same age, his physique looked much stronger, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and jeans that outlined his muscular lines quite distinctly.

On his black short-sleeved shirt, there was also the same red S emblem.

"Is that the 'S' of Superboy?" At that moment, a deep voice came from above. "Or is it the 'S' of skipping class?"

The resounding hum and the fluttering of the red cape made it clear that the newcomer was Superman, Clark Kent.

As for this black-clothed youth, it was naturally self-evident who he was.

Superboy, a clone combining Kryptonian and Earthling genes, and also Superman's adopted son, Conner Kent.

Conner's expression froze for a moment, then he slowly raised his head and dryly chuckled, "Um... what do you think about my sanity, Superman?"

"Because I just can't understand why growing up in this small town hasn't driven you insane. There isn't even anyone here to hang out with."

After the awkward moment of being caught skipping class lasted for a few seconds, Conner shifted to complaining to Superman.

"I appreciate you arranging a civilian identity for me – except for that stupid pair of glasses. But my nature won't let me stay here. I should be doing something meaningful, like beating up those thugs who hurt others, rescuing injured people from fires or earthquakes... instead of sitting in boring classrooms."

"And I'm capable of much more than that!"

Conner spread his hands, gazing into the distance, full of enthusiasm.

"That's why I came to find you, Conner. You need some extracurricular activities and additional guidance."

Superman's words surprised Conner. In the past, whenever Superman spoke like this, he would lecture him for a long time, saying things like "We are no better than humans." (A/N: Which was a big BS)

"Wait, you didn't sign me up for some extracurricular tutoring classes, did you?" Conner asked suspiciously.

"Of course not," Superman shook his head.

"Then, is it about doing volunteer work, herding cattle, harvesting wheat, or cleaning barns?"

"It's about the Teen Titans. Starfire invites you to join them."

Superman's answer greatly changed Conner's expression.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? Do you remember what happened last time we were with the Titans? Donna Troy died!"

Conner turned his head, facing away from Superman. "Because of that, I had to separate from my teammates, and the girl I cared about lost interest in me!"

"Now, you can reunite with them," Superman said, placing his hand on Conner's shoulder, speaking softly.

"You mean the Teen Titans' members are..." Conner suddenly understood everything, but after careful consideration, he still shook his head.

"I won't join any team that needs to be supervised by the Justice League, and I believe they wouldn't either."

Superman knew Conner would say that, so he revealed his agreement with Starfire, "I know you kids need privacy. I promise you that the League will never interfere with the Teen Titans, but in return, the Teen Titans cannot disrupt your life here."

"Life here?" For some reason, hearing this made Conner's mood take a downturn.

"Starting from now, you will fly to Titans Tower every Friday after school and return on Sunday night," Superman said firmly.

"What's the difference between this and a weekend training camp for Boy Scouts? Whose brilliant idea was this, so devoid of nutrition?" Conner weakly complained.

Superman remained silent, just crossing his arms and looking at Conner with a unwavering look.

Well, it seemed like the answer to that question didn't matter anymore.

Conner nodded obediently and said, "I will consider it."

"But you need to consider it on your way back to school."

Suddenly, Superman took out a pair of glasses from somewhere and put them on Conner, giving the slightly inexperienced face a touch of sophistication.

Conner: "..."

—-—

On the other side, Gotham.

Wayne Manor Estate.

In an extremely luxurious living room, three people were sitting and having a serious conversation.

"I don't want to discuss this matter for only one reason—I don't want to go," the young man opened the topic, speaking with a serious tone.

"Master Tim, do you really feel that way?" The well-dressed elder man with a tailcoat and white gloves asked with a frown.

"Titan Tower belongs to Nightwing!" Tim said in a disgusted tone, "He must know about this, and I don't want to walk in his footsteps."

"Bruce, do you think this is a good idea? Do you think I need more training and guidance?" Tim questioned the middle-aged man among the three.

"No, Master Tim, Mr. Bruce just hopes you go and meet your friends. You should spend more time with kids your age now, rather than fighting with various gangsters or murderers all night," Alfred, the elderly butler, replied.

"Don't speak for him, Alfred. That's your idea, not Bruce's. I do miss Conner and the others, but I still don't want to go back to being a Titan." Tim said with a resolute tone.

As soon as he finished speaking, Bruce's lips slightly curled up. The movement might have lasted less than a second, but Tim accurately caught it.

Instantly, Tim's heart felt uneasy. Whenever Bruce made that expression, it never led to anything good.

"Your activity time at Titan Tower will be from Friday evening to Sunday evening. I allow you to take the Batwing over there," Bruce said, looking at Tim with a faint tone.

Tim's attitude instantly changed, and he nodded repeatedly.

------

When Yuri and the others returned to Titan Tower with Cassie, Conner and Tim had just arrived.

Tim piloted the Batwing and landed it on the rooftop landing pad of Titans Tower, while Conner flew there on his own.

The arrival of the two made Starfire very happy, as it meant that the team she wanted to build was starting to take shape.

Robin, Superboy, Wonder Girl, Impulse, Beast Boy, and Yuri.

Besides Starfire, the other person who had a happy expression on their face was Bart.

As for Conner, Tim, and Cassie, the three of them looked at each other with complex expressions. They all wanted to say something, but didn't know what to say.

Yuri continued to ponder about the warning from the omnitrix and remained silent.

"Hey, Kori, now that the Titans are all here, should we throw a welcome party?" Gar asked Starfire.

"That's a good idea, Gar," Starfire liked Gar's suggestion, but soon she became troubled, "I don't know how to hold a welcome party for Earthlings. In Tamaran..."

"I have an idea," Yuri spoke up.

"We can hold the party according to Tetramand customs."
