What Does This Mean?(Pt.2)

"I'm home." Ethan said gruffly as he opened the apartment door. It was by no means a cheery statement coming from his mouth; it sounded more sour, as if Ethan had been sucking on lemons the entire time he was out.

What if...?

Victoria's thoughts went wild, as well as Liam's. She could sense him from across the living room, where he stood drinking a lukewarm cup of orange juice.

Talking mentally was almost like talking to someone using a tin can phone. Whenever someone pulled on the string, you could feel and hear the sound vibrate through your end. It was like that with thoughts and emotions. If panic spread through Liam, she would feel it. If Ethan thought something really important, it would echo down her conscience until it reached the center of her mind, and almost screamed at her.

"How was your drive?" Victoria began to say.

At the same time, from the other end of the room, a string was pulled.

What does this mean, Victoria?

The words were twisted and spun with malice, Ethan's voice sounding worse than before.

He knew. He knew, and he knew, and he knew, knew, knew, knew, knew.

He knows!

Victoria shouted at Liam, no doubt letting the thought travel to Ethan as well. She was double screwed, her personal moment being shared throughout the network of thoughts in her mind.

"I still haven't decided-" she pleaded with Ethan aloud, hoping, wishing she understood.

Yet after all that had happened in the bedroom earlier, she knew he wouldn't. She had pushed him away deliberately, shown that she might've liked Liam more. To Ethan, she had sent him out so the two could be alone together, which was far from the truth.

So far, yet he would never believe her.

"Sure you haven't." Ethan's words were cutting, sharp to the bone. They sliced into Victoria's soul, forever scarring her.

But I haven't!

She screamed, yet Ethan didn't listen. Throwing her daily bundle of paperwork down on the kitchen table, Ethan chose to take cover in the place he knew no one else would violate.

The one bathroom in the apartment.

Ethan shut and locked the door behind him, leaving Liam and Victoria stranded.

Of course he chose the bathroom.

Liam thought, his words sounding suddenly desperate.

Shut up!

Victoria screamed back. She didn't care if he had to go NOW, after all this time! All she cared about were the wounds on her conscience, brought upon her by one of her mates.

All she cared about was Ethan, no matter how much he had changed.
