Home Sweet Home(Pt.3)

"No! Don't touch me!" Liam yelled, shocking Victoria. She was so close to him; too close, his scream almost made her deaf.

"What do you think I'm gonna do? Jesus!" She screamed back, watching in triumph as he flinched. In one hand, she grasped a tube of ointment, good for patching up cuts. In another, she held the rest of her homemade first aid kit.

She didn't really want to help Liam in the first place. Unfortunately, he had been dumped at her door, bruised and infuriated. And she had been left to deal with him.

"Do it yourself if you won't let me get close!" In that moment, Victoria made an incredible discovery. She enjoyed screaming in Liam's face. Laughter bubbled up inside her, untamed and unstoppable. It was a crazy kind of laughing; one that only comes with delirium or intense stress and pressure.

Liam just glared as she laughed, and continued to laugh as she walked towards her kitchen. "I just need a break." Laughter turned to sorrow, and sorrow turned to tears. What was this? Was this her life, this crazy mess that she had been thrown into?

Big, fat globs of tears began to drip down her cheeks, falling onto the nearest kitchen counter. Although she tried to keep them quiet, her muffled sobs rang out throughout the entire house, like a mouse's squeaks at midnight.

"Hey..." Liam said as he entered the kitchen. He had fixed up the multiple wounds on his body, placing mismatched bandaids on scrapes and scratches. A Hello-Kitty patch stared up at Victoria while she dried her tears hurriedly, making her laugh a much smaller, gentler laugh.

"Is everything okay?" Victoria had no idea what was going on; after yelling and screaming for nearly half an hour, Liam was being kind.

"N-NO!" She said, tears falling faster. Why was everything so confusing?

Liam stepped closer to her, his suit pants ruffling with every step. Victoria didn't even try to fight him when he got closer, so close that he could engulf her easily.

"I'm sorry." He said, lifting her chin with his hand in a familiar fashion. In an instance, Victoria seemed to forget half of his past wrongdoings; fights faded away, cruel words, torn clothing, and ruined schoolbooks disappeared into an unknown space. Maybe it was the magic of mates. Maybe it was the magic of tender words spoken on a rough night. Maybe, just maybe, it was his hand under her chin, that minescule amount of contact making everything alright again.

Slowly, Liam took one step closer, his body pressed up against Victoria's as he smothered her in a hug.

"I'm so, so sorry."

Liam began to sway, rocking away previous tensions, rocking away hardships, rocking away the weaknesses in the two of them.

"I-" Victoria was cut off by the loud noise of her doorbell ringing. "I have to go get that." She broke away from their tight embrace to run towards the apartment door. Everything felt cold; it seemed as if she missed the heat of her Alpha male.

For the second time that night, Victoria swung her door open, allowing it to bang against the back wall. "What do you-"

In the place of a neighbor, or other nighttime visitor stood her other mate, Omega Ethan.
