She was alone and despair but she still took her revenge of her father and brother's death by slaughtering Evans hideouts. In the span of just one month, the entire Davis clan vanishes without a trace, leaving Evelyn to navigate her clan only in shadows, determined to protect her legacy at any cost. Fast forward five years— Evelyn, now the Vice President of Lav Enterprise. In office on the couch Evelyn feeding fruit to Wyatt and beside her, the president of the company and Evelyn's best friend, Archie, feeds Evelyn's daughter, Zoe in his embrace. Seated on the opposite couch, jealousy burned in Aiden's eyes as he watched Evelyn and Archie, his regret a constant reminder of what he had lost. His possessiveness towards Evelyn and their children is evident, yet he feels disheartened knowing he can't do anything to the man who now shares Evelyn's life. Helplessly, he can only stare, consumed by regret and longing. In a dark room, fill with dust, a couple on the ground tied up by a rope. "Baby girl, why don't our kids call me dad?" Aiden says frustratingly. "You think you can come back into our lives and pick up where we left off? You forfeited that right when you destroyed my world." "I know I can never undo the past, baby. But I love you. I want to be a father to our children, if you'll let me." "Darling, you're late. Someone else already filled that role," Evelyn replies coolly, attempting to free herself from the ropes binding her. "I'll kill that bastard!" Aiden's anger surges as he struggles to untangle Evelyn's ropes with his own bound hands, his desperation evident. "I dare you," Evelyn warns, her tone steely. "But baby, I—" Aiden's plea is cut off by Evelyn's blunt response. "Being my one-night stand should be enough for you," Evelyn states matter-of-factly, showing no concern for his feelings. "I am your husband," Aiden insists. "You should dream as big as I allow you to dream," Evelyn shoots back without hesitation. "Am I not even allowed to dream of you now?" "The blood on your hands can never be washed away, Aiden. The night you took my family from me, you also killed the part of me that can ever love you." "Am I of no use to you now?" Aiden proposes, regardless of their precarious situation. "You still have a purpose, darling," Evelyn replies with a playful smile. "You still have to meet your end at my hands today." Soon her hand gets freed. Evelyn looks at Aiden, who is also smiling at her. "Ready to die, darling?" Evelyn asks.

Break fail 2

On the other hand—

Aiden and Harris were on their way to have a business dinner.

"Aiden, Lav is looking for a partner," Harris mentioned.

"And?" Aiden asked, his tone flat.

"They need help managing a project that's already up and running. I think we should get involved. I've already instructed the team to prepare," Harris explained.

"Fine," Aiden replied curtly.

"Our shipment is due at the end of the month. We've secured it, but I'm still worried they might try something again," Harris said, his voice tinged with concern.

"Then deal with it. If they interfere again, they'll regret it," Aiden responded, his eyes cold and unfeeling.

They were still in the middle of the talk when they noticed something wrong. He glanced out the window first, then at the driver. Before he could say anything, the driver anxiously spoke.

"Sir, there's a problem."

"Something's off."

Aiden's eyes wavered. Somehow, he already saw what was happening. He looked around the road for a while and said nothing.

Sitting in the shotgun seat, Harris looked to his right and asked, "What's going on?"

The driver fearfully looked at his vice president. His hands were shaking with uneasiness. He tried to push the brake as hard as he could but ended up with nothing. Having no idea what to do, he informed them, "The brakes are out!"

"What?" Harris instantly held on to the handrail. His eyes widened when the driver overtook the cars in front of them one by one. "Bro, what's happening?" He worriedly looked back to Aiden.

The driver continuously tried every way to stop, but things were only getting worse. "Sir, it's not working!" he exclaimed, feeling scared.

"Harris, call our security. Get them ready," Aiden said as he pulled out his phone to call people too.

Harris nodded quickly. Taking his phone out, he tried to call some numbers, but they wouldn't go through. "I can't get any signal."

Aiden looked at his useless phone too and answered Harris's doubt. "It's a network jammer. Someone has set us up."

Harris looked at the speed and cars around them. Clenching his fist tightly, he yelled in anger, "Someone has planned our death!"

Hearing his friend yelling in fear, Aiden's eyes darkened. Smirking, he ordered, "Drive to the quieter road."

The driver tried to comply, but the traffic was heavy, and the speed was too much for him to handle. "Sir, it's very dangerous! I can't manage it."

"I'll take the wheel. Move," Aiden said and stood up as soon as they saw a little empty road.

"Bro! No!" Harris yelled in denial. But before he could say anything, the exchange of seats had already happened.

"Shut up!"

Aiden drove the car as best he could. If the road were empty, it wouldn't be a problem, but because of the traffic and the unpredictable reactions of other drivers, he had to make split-second decisions. Consequently, the car's speed kept increasing.

Harris's grip on the handrail tightened. However, even in that condition, he didn't lose his presence of mind. Looking at the rearview mirror, he saw someone speeding up to their pace and following their trail.

"Someone is coming after us."

"They must be the one who planted the jammer," the driver instantly said.

Aiden looked in the back mirror. Seeing someone actually following their trail and pace, he doubted their intentions.

"What should we do, brother?" Harris worriedly looked at him. They didn't even have guns for protection. The car's speed was too much for anyone to bear. However, seeing Aiden's hands on the steering wheel reassured him somewhat.

Aiden kept looking front and back. His foot on the accelerator had paused. Looking at the cars in front, he informed them, "We won't accelerate, or we won't be able to balance it."

Aiden's hold on the steering tightened. Because of the brake's failure, he couldn't fight with his enemy at the same time. He could ask others to hide, but it was impossible for him to look away from the road. The only good thing was the traffic, which had lessened.

Harris noticed the car trailing them had almost reached their side. "Are we going to die?"

Aiden noticed the closeness too. Looking to his right rear mirror, he commanded, "Get down!" If bullets actually came, his people would be safe at least.

To his command, both the driver and Harris immediately got down on the car floor. Second by second, the trailing car reached their side. Aiden leaned back and waited.

To his surprise, nothing happened except the other car driving parallel to them. Aiden's eyes squinted as he saw the other car facing the same struggle. Before he could think further, he heard a continuous series of car horns.

His eyes flickered as he looked to his side. His eyes widened a little when he noticed the driver of the other car. It was a girl.

Thank you!
