A Formal Meeting

Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap. Tap.

The sound of only the most exclusive dress shoes gliding through a marble floor, it can either be the most seductive or the most maddening.

To me, it was possibly more infuriating than teaching cocky brats, I'd rather be barefoot in a kimono than wearing this jacket, this tie, and these ridiculously loud shoes.

I even brought a folder with me to seem like I cared, but really, it didn't mean much to me.

The damn kids have potential, I'll give them that, but I'd rather be doing actual work than teaching kids how to do the job.

I guess it still hasn't worn off yet, the very thought of teaching instead of actually working on cases just makes me sick.

The Director called me to his office, it's probably just a progress report, something he wanted from us once a month.

His office door had his name, along with his title embroidered in it, every agent looked forward to something like that, something so subtle that came with recognition.

As soon as I entered the room, it appeared as if I came thirty minutes late even though I arrived right on time.

"You're here." the Director said.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, sir."

And across from the Director was the 4th division class captain and the assigned teacher of youth class A, Ivan Brogdon.

His attire was clearly not professional, who the hell wears a leather coat and combat boots to a meeting?

His scars just added a few more scratches to the broken mirror, and the Maciejówka hat only gave off the impression like he's some type of war general or something, in fact, he probably was the fittest for such a position.

"It's alright, now I'll brief you two on your next class assignment. We currently are totaled with 28 students, I think your students should be ready for a mission."

"Wait, did you say 28 students, sir?"

"Yes, Ivan failed eight students already."

What, he actually failed eight students, what the hell?

I mean I knew the bastard would be harsh, but seriously, it's only been about a month since we started and he already dismissed eight students.

"Those kids weren't ready to be agents and had no chance to be prepared for graduation." Ivan said.

"Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of the youth program, weren't we assigned to the youth program to prepare them for graduation, not fail them in the first month."

This bastard was so cruel that he actually made me show some care for these kids.

"You must be mistaken, Jerome. We're not here to be their friends, we're here to teach them in becoming the best of the best, and no less. If they aren't able to reach that quota, then what is the point in wasting our time."

"That's enough. I'll be giving you each a mission for your class to do. Jerome, since your class is larger they will have a mission in 3 seperate blocks, and Ivan since your class is smaller by almost half, you'll receive Block D, is that clear?" the Director said, halting the passive banter between me and Ivan.

"Yes sir." something that me and Ivan can agree upon.

"Alright, you can take these and you should be on your way." the Director handed us the contents necessary for our next assignment, well, the student's next assignment that is.

I exited once he handed it to me, I can read it on my way back to the youth building, I'd rather read it in solitude than breathe the same air as that tyrant, I still can't get over the fact that he actually dismissed eight students before their first true test arrived.

Now, let's see what the Director wants these kids to do.
