Chapter 23: Danger

Kamar Taj

Inside of Kamar Taj, a battle could be seen occurring on one of the training grounds.

One of the participants was the now middle-aged Hikaru, who was attempting to become the first Master of the Mystic Arts in the newly formed Kamar Taj.

He was going against a relaxed Catherine who was testing him to see if he was qualified for the position.

"By the Flames of the Faltine!!" screamed Hikaru as he made a stream of fire shoot out of his hand and at Catherine.

Catherine simply created a shield with a wave of her hands that completely negated Hikaru's attack.

"I think that's enough for today." Catherine said before she waved her hands once again as the earth beneath Hikaru completely bound him.

Instead of looking angry or disappointed, Hikaru simply looked on with amazement in his eyes as he said "Incredible, Lady Yao. I didn't even feel us go inside the Mirror Dimension. It seems I still have much to learn before I can acquire the position of a Master."

Catherine just nodded as she opened a portal for the two to leave as she then spoke "Those who have a high understanding of the Mirror Dimension are able to cast it to the degree that no one can notice it being used. You are correct in the fact that you still aren't quite ready to be a master, but I have no doubt that you are well on your way to becoming one."

Catherine then said her goodbyes to him as she went on a walk around Kamar Taj.

20 years had passed since she first established Kamar Taj. She had allowed many people who had very little left in the world to join them at that time, with the mountain now housing around 2,000 people.

This included many of the people whose Villages were attacked or destroyed by foreign lands, as well as those that felt lost in the world.

While around 800 people had delved into the Mystic Arts, none of them had been able to become a master of it.

Catherine had also grown her own strength over the years to the point where she could cast spells without the need for incantations, something that very few sorcerers were capable of doing.

She had grown her strength to such a degree that she felt confident in being able to wipe out Moryo with a single wave of her hands.

Catherine walked into her room that stood at the very top of the mountains, after which she prepared herself a cup of tea.

'Perhaps I should visit Izzy again?' she thought to herself.

However, just as she was about to take a sip out of her tea, she felt a massive presence, one that she hadn't felt before, yet had seemed to be on there for quite some time.

She stood up immediately and cast a scan spell, with the results of it practically confirming her suspicions.

'So Kaguya's arrived and the World Tree has been planted. Though, that should be impossible since I didn't feel the arrival of her and Isshiki. Could it be that fate is interfering? I didn't expect it to completely isolate me.' Catherine thought to herself.

Catherine was about to begin planning to act against Kaguya, but a light flashed in front of her before she could make any moves.

She saw a note appear in front of her, with what she read confirming the suspicions that she had.

"I didn't plan on speaking to you again, though your actions will be quite dangerous for yourself, so I felt the need to stop you. The fate you are attempting to interfere with is engraved into the fabric of the universe that you are in, and only if you are able to either manipulate fate directly with the Time Stone, become a Principality who can transcend fate, or modify fate with powerful magic, your actions could cause your own destruction. While you can make changes to the world, any hostile actions will cause fate to actively attempt to destroy you. It will be up to you now."

"It seems I'll need to grow stronger than I thought I would if I wanted to protect our world. I didn't expect that I would have to take that risk so early, but it seems I have no other choice." Catherine said to herself, a flash of determination crossing over her face.

She then opened a portal to begin to comprehend one of the most dangerous elements inside of the universe: Time
