Chapter 9! Rockson Palmer!

Since the inclusion of Stella Hamilton into the Gaya family, the two children of the family met with one accident or the other. The whole family was on tenterhooks as it was clear as day that they were the target of someone who wanted them dead at all cost.

The Gaya family was rich and powerful and Esteban Gaya was not one to be trifled with either. Therefore it was clear that whoever the mastermind was, it wouldn't be anyone simple, as a regular person will not be willing to provoke Esteban Gaya.

There were times that Milady Gaya got attacked at school outings or excursions, one of such attacks nearly left her disabled as she was shot in both legs, whereas the bullet missed her bones miraculously as she tried dodging it. On another occasion, she was nearly drugged at a restaurant but the security somehow got wind of the set-up and managed to switch the meals thereby apprehending the culprit.

One day, Fillipe walked out of home without anyone spotting or stopping him. The question then was that how could anyone without the slightest sense of direction walk out of such a mansion without being spotted by anyone unless he had help from inside the house?

Realising the loophole, Esteban did not dwell too long on the case on the surface, only to work with his head of security, a man who had served the Gaya family for decades. Their discretion paid off as the culprit who happened to be a middle-aged servant struck again, this time by poisoning the supper of Filipe Gaya. Knowing fully well that she will be alerted if presented with the poisoned dinner, she was presented with the poisoned drink in a different cup after which she was sent on an errand out of the mansion and given three days off upon her request.

The unsuspecting servant then met up with a servant of the Hamilton family under the guise of purchasing foodstuffs. Due to the deliberate attempt made to catch the mastermind by Esteban, the servant was never questioned and until the day she died, which was after three days, she was still not privy to the fact that she was being watched and had been exposed.

Her sudden death on the third day caused the Hamiltons to be on tenterhooks because it was a sign that she had been exposed. How else could a grown-up with the task of poisoning a kid end up killing herself with the same substance?

However, no confrontation took place and the Hamiltons concluded that the servant's death could either be an accident or an isolated case of negligence, not having anything to do with the Gaya family. After all, no father could still smile unrestrained with someone after the lives of his children were threatened by the said individual over and over again.

Moreover, there was only an attempt and it wasn't like anyone got killed, so how could Esteban Gaya seek justice with his wife's family when the crime has yet to be committed?

Esteban initially thought that Stella was in on the whole set up to pave way for her children, but further investigations into the case showed that everything was at the blind side of Stella Hamilton whose mother held no power in the Hamilton family when she was still living, much less now that she is no more.

The mastermind had a well thought out plan in motion to have Stella Hamilton take the blame as the one culprit for the death of her stepchildren. Nobody will believe her even if she said she knew nothing about the incident. In that way, Stella who will not want such a scandal to be made public to implicate her can only cater to the whims of the Hamilton family. They could also have a woman with power at their back and call.

Finally finding out about their evil schemes, Esteban made a hard call. Even though it was difficult, he told Stella of the whole scheme and she did not hesitate to cut off all relations with the Hamilton family as expected.

It was now clear to Esteban why a pregnant Stella Hamilton never fought for her relationship with him even though she was already pregnant with twins but rather resolved to have the children in a foreign land, thereby becoming a single mother of two.

It was no wonder she felt that leaving the country and walking out on everything was the best for her.

Before Stella Hamilton broke away from her family, an attempt was made on her life as well as her stepchildren.

A sniper targeted Milady who happened to be the least protected in the family since her whereabouts were always up for guesses and she will not agree to have any guards either. Shadowing her also became difficult as she was quite skilled herself. On that fateful day, Milady was shielded from the sniper when it was clear that she was in clear shot. This was due to a diversion created when she noticed suspicious movements by someone ahead of her and could only hide behind a wall to shield herself. The sudden movement created enough room for the sniper who had her in clear shot.

Out of nowhere, Rockson Palmer shielded Milady without a care for his own life. The bullet pierced through his right shoulder as it was aiming for Milady's heart. Rockson nearly lost his right arm afterwards but Milady never got a gist of it.

Milady resolved to leave home and never looked back. It was clear that attempts on her life began on the day her father's new wife officially joined the family. Unbeknownst to her Stella did not have it easy on that fateful day, neither did Filipe.

Looking to fulfil her mother's dream of becoming a lawyer, her pursuits drove her to the level she currently attained, all through unyielding efforts of hard work and determination.
