Chapter 8! More Events From The Past!

Esteban continued to cry in regret as his son slept peacefully on his laps. As usual, whenever he comes to Filipe's room at night, he loses track of time and sometimes cries himself to sleep on his bed. "If only I had treated you like the woman you were, you wouldn't have died such a tragic death, Rafaela. I was wrong! I was wrong. I really don't dare to even ask for your forgiveness, how do I make it up to you when you are not even here anymore? If only our daughter could understand my intentions Rafaela, she would have been securely placed in the Palmer household by now. How do I protect our daughter, Rafaela! Please help me make the best choice for her"

Esteban was in deep thought when Stella Hamilton walked in with a cup of warm water on a serving tray. He didn't even notice her walking in just now. Watching him zoning out in his son's room again, Stella felt a stab of pain in her chest and held the tray tightly, while keeping her head down.

Upon lifting her head, she gave a forced smile to Esteban while trailing her line of sight to Fillipe subtly before retracting her gaze and enquiring in a soft aggrieved voice "will you be spending the night here?" Stella looked everywhere but Esteban's face and was ready to head back to their room alone when he grabbed her hand and drew her into an embrace saying "let's go together" She was taken by surprise and kept wondering if she heard wrong when he spoke hoarsely once again saying "forgive me for my selfishness and indecisiveness all these years. All our children deserve love and care Stella. Let's raise them together and live as one family under the same roof from henceforth"

Looking at the man who seemed to have come to a firm decision on the issue, Stella could not help but throw herself further into Esteban's embrace while crying to her heart's content. Anyone who saw her crying with so much emotion will be misled to think that she is an aggrieved woman being bullied, but only Stella Hamilton knew how much these words meant to her. The tears were her only way to express the extreme joy she was feeling at the moment.

Hugging her for a while, Esteban felt like a knife was stabbing his chest for the second time tonight. He didn't know what to say to stop her from crying further, but one thing he was certain about is that Stella's tears were tears of joy. It goes to show how much pain and burden the woman had to harbour in her heart all these years. She has really suffered in silence.

Two years after Rafaela was confirmed dead, Stella Hamilton sought him out and wanted to rekindle their love for each other. Esteban saw no reason why he should accept said woman into his life again after destroying one who loved him to the point of depression when she realised her feelings could never be reciprocated. He also had his children to consider, as their mother was no more and he happened to be the only family they had at the moment.

Esteban refused to remarry until one day, Stella told him about the existence of his twin boys. Esteban was in a great dilemma at the time because he thought Stella was trying to trap him with said children just so he could marry her.

When he finally had the DNA test results in front of him, he resolved that his children with Stella needed their father's love and the status of bearing their father's name. As their father, he was not there when they were born, but he could be with them in the latter years of their lives.

Esteban couldn't tell how badly his eldest daughter was going to take the introduction of another woman, as well as the existence of siblings she had never heard of just two years after her mother was confirmed dead. She might even accuse him of having an affair while her mother was still alive. Two years after their mother's death, Stella was introduced to the children as Esteban's fiance whom he married after six months of familiarizing herself with the children. The eldest child never voiced any objection to the father's decision but never spoke a single word to Esteban or his new wife, Stella afterwards.

To avoid his twin boys from being ostracised, Esteban could only keep them in the shadows. under the care of a nanny until an appropriate time is chosen for their exposure to the world, a time that will be favourable for both the family and the family business.

However, certain things don't always go as planned.
