Chapter 7: Class, Task and Mask
The teacher then looked at Beck and laughed before speaking up. " Beck glad you could make it, as we all know the show must go on but to think not even injury would stop you from coming to class I'm impressed."
John smiled awkwardly as he walked to his seat and sat down and the teacher continued. " Alright now that everyone is here let us continue where we left off in the script analysis can anyone tell me what the writer was trying to portray in Macbeth's line here."
John sighs as the three-hour lecture ends and the teacher dismissed them with some homework due tomorrow as well as reminding everyone that they will be rehearsing tomorrow for a short play the class has scheduled.
He then remembers that he lives on campus and heads home rather quickly while talking to the system. *Hey system can you show me the tasks again I want to see the new one I acquired as I completed the last one.*
The system complies as while he walks back the task appears in view the previous one already gone and in its place two remain. [ Task 1: Finish your work and complete your Illusion technology. Reward: One choice of three starting Masks.] [Task 2: Knock the crowd's socks off at your class's next performance. Reward: your choice of three blueprints.]
John blinks as he looks at the tasks before thinking to himself. * so the first task is clearly the newer of the two as the difficulty is slightly higher than the other.* John decides on two things as he walks.
As he gets to his room he grabs some documents out of a filing cabinet before changing direction and heading off campus and to the nearest street to catch a cab while asking the system something.
* Hey sys-* John stops that thought before continuing * Hey system from now on I am giving you the name Navi as it is short for Navigation System of which you are.* John then hears in his head. * New designation acquired. *
John smiles before continuing his questions. * So Navi please explain to me what these Masks are and what they do. The same thing with the blueprints do I get to choose what kind of blueprints they are or are they random too, will I get a blueprint to build a building or something else I don't need?*
Navi responds in her normal monotone voice. * Sorry John but I am unable to tell you what the Masks are but I can tell you that they will only benefit you. As for what they do it's simple for each Mask contains an ability that the wearer is able to use as long as they have MP (Mask power) to use it. *
*Though for the moment, all Masks are locked to the system, and only its host can use them. As for the blueprints yes they are indeed random but will only be objects that will be helpful for example if you needed a mode of transportation the blueprint might be for a car.*
John nods as he pays for the cab getting out in front of a government building and heading inside going to the nearest teller and explaining that he would like to change his name which he has decided since he got his old memories hoping to hide from fate since the last thing he wants to do is be a villain.
So after spending the rest of the day filling out forms, he left the government building as Johnathan Beck instead, not changing the last name as it was the last tie that he had to his deceased parents. John then headed home as it was getting rather late and he was tired.
