Despair and Hope

The cruelty of war became more and more vicious as the sun sank. The copper-coloured sky was pierced by intense fires, and every wail on the battlefield spoke to Alison of silent despair. The scales of battle seemed to be gradually tilting as the enemy surged in like a tidal wave, drowning out hope little by little.

In the midst of this plight, which almost no one can reverse, Alison remains steadfast to those who need her most. A young child, mercilessly caught up in the war, stared with wide-open, fearful eyes at the great shadow that was about to claim his young life. Alison's body was too tired to support herself, but without hesitation she leapt at the child, shielding him from the flying arrows with her own body.

She held the child in her arms as great pain and fear travelled from the child's withered body to Alison's heart. Her hands rested gently on the child's forehead, and a pale golden light flowed out, as if the noise around her was cut off. Her power, like a lit candle flame, trembled and strove to burn in the storm.

Alison's heart was conflicted. On the one hand, she longed for the end of it all, wanted to escape the endless killing; but on the other hand, whenever she saw the children in front of her, and those who believed in her, her heart was as firm as ever, an endless promise and desire for life. She knew that in these dark moments, she was a lighthouse in the hearts of others, guiding the direction of lost souls.

The artillery fire on the battlefield remained unrelenting, each explosion seemed to mock the fragility of life, cruelly judging every soul. But in the faint glow of Alison's light, the child's crying gradually subsided, and the tears of despair turned into pearls of hope. Even warriors as hard as iron, after watching this scene from afar, felt that tenacity and rekindled their determination to continue fighting.

As the night grew tighter and tighter, Alison's strength reached a breaking point. The boy's breathing became even, and he calmed down from his initial convulsions. Alison was relieved, and even knowing that she stood on the brink of life and death, she knew deep down that she had not made the journey in vain. Even as her body grew shaky, she used all her remaining strength to create a final place of hope. In this suffocating darkness, she was the last shining star, not to shine for herself, but to give others the hope of life.
