My Wife is a Spy

Six years after her brother was killed, Ying Yue finally became the top spy agent at Juyan Intelligence Agency. She leads a double life: a secretary by day, and a spy at night. However, after accidentally protecting her CEO boss on a shoot out, he suddenly has his eyes set on taking her as his wife! ***** It was Ying Yue who broke the tension with a light laugh. "I'm sorry Mr. Fei, I know I might sound absurd, but it sounded like you wanted to actually, really, be in a relationship with me." "It is not absurd." He cocked his head to one side. "I find you smart and attractive, and trust me, I do not remember being attracted to anyone else." Ying Yue's calm façade broke. She frowned, unable to understand what was going inside the brain of the great Fei Huangjin. She used to admire the man, but now she couldn't help wondering if the incident last night made him crazy. "Mr. Fei, I implore you not to make fun of me like this." "I'm not joking." "Yes, you are." She insisted. "Go on a date with me." "No." "And call me Huangjin." "I will not, Mr. Fei!" Her voice had already inched a notch higher. "Why not?"

I want to see Ying Yue

"This…" Fei Huangjin pursed his lips for a moment as his right hand let go of the bed sheets. "But she's going to be fine, right?"

Li Hsiung was quiet, and unfortunately for him, the uncomfortable silence didn't sit well with Fei Huangjin. He kicked off the sheets before wincing at the pain that on his thigh, and then pulled off the leads attached to his chest. The monitors beeped wildly around him and the room's alarms went off.

"Huangjin, stay in bed."

"I want to see Ying Yue," his face contorted in pain as his leg shook beneath him. "Argh…"

Li Hsiung stood up and pushed him forcefully back to the bed. "Even if you see her, you won't be able to do anything. She's still unconscious."

"Don't touch me!"

"Hey, I'm the doctor here."

"And I'm the one who hired you!"

"You!—"

Tension filled the air as the two men stubbornly eyed each other. It seemed like none of them was going to back down from what they wanted. They were both aggressive men in their own ways – and there was a saying that you shouldn't, or couldn't, fight fire with fire. Eventually, however, Li Hsiung sighed and backed down. Even if he was the head doctor in charge of the Dragon Club medical facility and Fei Huangjin was his patient, the man was still – first and foremost – his boss.

"I'll take you there." His lips thinned in exasperation.

"Good choice—because I was wondering if I should fire you."

Dr. Li stopped himself from hitting him. Seriously, this guy…

The wheelchair stopped at the viewing area right outside the critical unit. Li Hsiung glanced at Fei Huangjin hesitantly and said, "She just finished surgery, so you can't go in because we're trying to keep her environment as sterile as possible. I'll leave you here for a few minutes before I take you back to your room."

Fei Huangjin nodded silently, his eyes glued to the sight of the woman lying on the bed. She had an oxygen mask on her face and several monitors and fluids connected to her. Her arm was bandaged and she had a few bruises on her face. Her lips were still pale.

He could hear the subtle beeping of the machines surrounding her. He held his breath for a moment. She looked ghastly, and she looked far from being alright.

"Ying Yue…" He really wanted to go in and hold her, talk to her, kiss her. He wanted to see her smile again and inhale her unique scent of lemons and sunshine. Damn it, he hadn't even given her a proper wedding yet. Fei Huangjin suddenly felt like he hadn't killed Su Jianjun enough. He should've given him a slow, painful death. The man died too easily in his hands while his wife was suffering.

Where was that Guan Ting anyway? He needed to know what else happened last night.

Fei Huangjin looked away from the scene he was looking at. He didn't like seeing Ying Yue this way.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

His head turned back to Ying Yue as the alarms in her room started to blare. The monitors were going haywire. What was happening?

Fei Huangjin's eyes widened and his lips parted as a nurse came running into the room and immediately yelled to another nurse to page Dr. Li. And then she put both hands on Ying Yue's chest and started pumping up and down.

"Ying Yue!" He yelled, even if he knew she couldn't hear him. He slammed his right fist onto the glass window, startling the nurse for a moment before she went back to pumping on the patient's chest. "No! Ying Yue!!"

There were quick footsteps behind him and he saw Li Hsiung run inside the critical unit and take over with the resuscitation. Someone attached an Ambu bag to Ying Yue's mouth while Li Hsiung was pumping away on her chest.

"No…" Fei Huangjin whispered, his face full of shock and disbelief. She wasn't dying, right? She couldn't be.

"One epi now!" Li Hsiung yelled. Another nurse came running in and injected something.

"One epi given!"

Li Hsiung stopped pumping and placed his stethoscope on Ying Yue's chest to listen for any heartbeat. Unfortunately, there seemed to be none. His eyes briefly flitted to Fei Huangjin's wide-eyed ones through the glass window before he started pumping on Ying Yue's chest again.
