My Uneventful Camping Trip

First love – it could make you or break you. Kinsley— dense and self-centered— goes on the school's camping trip just to be with the only boy she's ever fallen in love with, Adrian. But things get complicated when a gorgeous and sweet foreign exchange student comes on camp, catching Adrian's attention and putting Kinsley in a tight spot between love and friendship. Things get much more worse when Jake Hill shows up, trying to drive Kinsley to the brink of insanity by making her feel emotions she has never felt before. And maybe, trying to win her heart. But she still wants Adrian and will stop at nothing to get her first kiss from her first love even if it means attending a camping trip she isn't meant to attend. ~sneak peek~ "I don't know who you are. Or why you're doing this but I won't let you ruin this camping trip for me." I whisper in a low voice more to myself than to him. As if he hears me, he slowly opens up his eyes and gives me a little smile, almost like he's challenging me. And I'm stuck staring into green eyes. —He was always around me, bugging me and ruining my chances of getting my first kiss. But when I found out who he was and why he was doing it... Everything changed. Everything became harder.— Kinsley Bardot (at the end of the book.)

Weird and I

MONDAY. 7:39 PM.

She continues speaking like nothing concerns her. "I saw how you walked into the tent earlier and you've been asleep for nearly the whole day. I don't know what made you that way but I can tell it's not a good thing. But that doesn't mean you should starve yourself."

"Like you said, you don't know what happened so I suggest you shut up."

She gives me a dead look, "I hate the way you speak but I'll still continue." She says and I sigh tiredly. "Whatever happened, you shouldn't let it weigh you down." She looks at the other side of the tent, like she's in deep thought. "Whenever I'm sad, I don't just sleep, sleep is good but I eat to feel better. I stuff myself with food until my problems fade away." She then turns to me, "So eat." She puts on a forced bright smile.

I scoff at her words which then leads to a laugh. "That's cheesy."

"Yeah, it is, but I have to get you to eat by all means."

I stay quiet as we both stare at each other, as if our eyes spoke louder than our words. She's right, I shouldn't starve myself just because something unfavorable happened. What happened to the Kinsley who never lets anything weigh her down and tries to stand tall despite every hardship? I can't let this whole love and friendship situation make me forget who I am. I am Kinsley Bardot, my dad won't be proud if he finds out I'm hiding from reality.

I hear her snap her fingers, "Yes! The look on your face shows you're considering it." She says and stands on her feet, "I'll go bring your food." She doesn't waste time in running out to get my dinner.

"Wait, I didn't say I was going to-" But she's gone.

I sigh and sit on top of my bed. I sigh once more whilst shutting my eyes. I run both my hands through my blonde hair. I don't fully understand where this feeling of uneasiness is exactly coming from; I finally got the moment I wanted with Adrian, so why do I feel bad after Madison saw Adrian and I together. Madison's so nice to me and I'm stabbing her in the back. If only she knew I actually came on this camping trip to get Adrian to love me, she wouldn't have vouched for me to stay.

"Here's your dinner." My third roommate walks in with two trays in hand.

I slightly chuckle at her lit-up face; she looks relieved and happy that I decided to eat. I still wonder who asked her to make sure I ate.

She places a tray in my lap and I gasp when I see its contents while she rushes to sit back on Jenny's bed, opposite me.

"Barbecued Meatloaf?!" I exclaim. A huge smile forms on my face and now I'm glad I didn't skip dinner, "This camp really is the best." I grab my fork and begin digging in.

The fun part is that, it isn't just barbecued meatloaf that's on my tray. There were other toppings, side dishes that I can't even name. I can't really believe Brice Worth High put this much effort and preparation into this year's Campeek! I guess Jenny's having the time of her life if this is what they're serving for dinner.

"Yeah, I guess you can say so,"

I chuckle, getting excited at dinner while putting a big piece in my mouth as I smile at her. That's when I notice her tray.

The smile wipes off my face as a frown takes place. "Wait, why's my dinner different from yours?" I ask, chewing slowly on my food.

She forces a smile, "I'd rather not talk about that." She puts a spoon in her mouth.

I stare at her as she focusses on her dinner; the way she takes up every spoon looks like she's starving. I then remember her previous statement but then I may be wrong, why will I receive special treatment from Coach? Or can it be Miss Sharpay?

Then I notice the drink placed on my tray and my frown deepens. "You have water on your tray, why do I have this?"

This drink is sold in New Oleen and I know how much it costs because I've seen it in my mom's store; one word—expensive. I don't think the school would actually provide this for approximately 100 students on Campeek!

She gives me a dead look, "I also don't know why but if I were you, I'll eat up without asking any questions. You should consider this a blessing."

I stare at the yellow wrapped container quizzically, "Who's doing this?"

"I can't tell you that."

I look back at my plate as many thoughts run through my mind then I look at her to catch her eyeing my dinner. I don't understand what's really happening here but one thing I do understand; she's really hungry. I smile. "You want a bite? You can have." I offer.

Her face lights up again, revealing her baby features. Now I wonder how old she must be. "Really?"

I smile huge at her cuteness, "Yes. Sure." I push the tray closer with my hands.

Then her smile turns into a glare and she looks deadly, "You want me dead, right?"

I pout and then let out a loud gasp as it hits me. I'm stupid to think this is all special treatment. A stranger just literally almost drove crazy in pestering me to eat dinner and my food is completely different from hers, what else could it be? I stand up immediately to glare at her, "Are you out of your mind? You poisoned it?!" I yell, "Oh my God I'm going to-"

Her eyes widen, "Damn chill. It's not poisoned, I promise. I'm just not supposed to eat it, it's meant for you."

"Because it's poisoned?"

She curses under her breath, "Look here, I said it's not poisoned which means it's not at all poisoned. Now would you sit down and just eat? And also don't ask any more questions." She resumes eating her food. "I'm tired of hearing you complain."

I slowly sit back on my bed. I stare at the food; I'm thinking of throwing it away and actually going to bed without eating but the food looks too good to be ignored. Well, if I die, I'll die with a full belly.

I put another piece in my mouth as I continue to watch her eat. Now that I'm really seeing her, she looks pretty young, maybe even younger than I am. But what is she doing at Campeek! if she's this young?

"Hey, how old are you?" I ask.

"I'm 28." She answers almost immediately, like she knew I would ask that.

I give her a bored look, "Yeah, you're 28." I respond sarcastically, "But seriously how old? You look really young."

"That's because I have a really good skincare routine."

"How old?"

"I told you. I'm 27."

"I thought you said 28?"

"I grew younger just a second ago."

I laugh out loud.

"It's good you're laughing. My name's Reyna by the way." She smiles warmly at me.

I smile back; about some minutes ago I was really prepared to beat her up, it's funny how now we're chatting and laughing.

Maybe Camp won't be so bad, today's just the first day after all. Tomorrow might actually feel much more better than today, so I'll just hope for the best.

I catch Reyna staring thoughtfully at me as she chewed on her food. "What?"

She quickly swallows and sets her spoon down, "I shouldn't say this but I would say it and suffer the consequences because I think you're being a real bitch."

My eyes widen and I almost choke on my food; 'the way this girl's attitude changes every minute is really something else.' I think to myself.

"You should be grateful to the person who organized this and I think it's super sad you don't even recognize that person." She goes back to her food, signaling the end of tonight's conversation.

Normally, I will have immediately responded to her mean comment but for some reason, I can't and I don't understand why.

I stare back at my food... Who's doing this?

\Author sighs\

She thinks she knows everything but she actually doesn't, she also doesn't know that Campeek! won't get better tomorrow.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
