Chapter 4- On a Sunday
It was Sunday morning and everywhere was buzzing in the city. The sun rays were already shining into the room and on Jane's face affecting Jane's sleep.
Jane wanted to sleep more as she didn't have any plans for the day. After struggling to continue sleeping for some time she had to get up and close the blinds.
While she was closing the blinds her mind flashed back to her phone, she had not checked it. "They must have sent mail", Jane thought. As she jumped back on her bed to get her phone and opened her phone the mailbox was empty just like yesterday. This saddened her a little bit with a sigh and moody face, she dropped her phone on the bed and lay on her back thinking about what could be the reason why no message was coming.
After some time she stopped thinking and picked up the courage to call her friend to know if she got any messages. "After all, today has not yet ended, hopefully, they will call or email me before the end of the day"
While she was still contemplating and saying this in her thoughts she got a call from May. Before she could say hello, May screamed in happiness "I got an email from Jayco. I have been offered a job at Jayco and they said I should start work on Monday".
Jane happily celebrates with her friend on the phone. "Did you get yours"? May was concerned about her friend who didn't share her news.
"No, not yet. I am still hoping to get mine before Monday". Hiding her shaky voice to not ruin the mood. "Don't worry you will be called soon" May replied immediately trying to give Jane some hope.
The two friends kept on talking for hours on the new job till they got tired. "Jane, I have to go get something at the corner store, and don't worry about a thing you will get the job with faith"! May gave her friend one last word of encouragement and proceeded to cut the call. Jane felt more down as all her hope sank and disappeared into thin air.
After lying for some time on her bed lost in her thoughts Jane decides to make some desserts to brighten up her mood at least.
As she came down from her bed and started walking to the kitchen just as she was about to grab the fridge her phone beeped. Anxious as ever she stood still looking over at her bed wondering if to go back and check or just continue with what she was doing. While she was still contemplating her phone started ringing.
She immediately rushed to her bed to see who it was and on her phone screen was boldly written "Jayco limited".
Jane could not believe her eyes balls of tears started forming in her eyes and she hurriedly picked up the call and placed the phone on her ears she heard the voice of one of the ladies in the interview room the other day.
"Hello, Miss Jane you have been offered the job at Jayco Limited as the personal secretary to the Boss. Please check your mail for further information Thank you!.
After saying this the call ended and Jane started jumping and screaming so hard that one of her neighbors came and knocked on her door asking if everything was alright.
Jane immediately said, "Yes everything is alright I am just happy I got a job I promise to keep it down".
Saying this Jane reduced her excitement and proceeded to call her friend. "Hello girlfriend" Jane called her in a stylish happy tone. "I have been offered the job. I just got a call and an email from Jayco. I am so excited!
This caused so much gladness in the hearts of the two friends. "I told you that you would surely get the job," May said amidst their celebration. "Thank you, May for your encouragement and company these few days. You are indeed a good friend," Jane replied. "See you on Monday! And dress like a pretty girl"! May said before cutting the call and the two friends chuckled. "You too"! Jane replied and cut the call.
Jane immediately opened her mail and started to study a few things that she would be doing tomorrow at the office.
Seeing that she wouldn't be wearing a uniform just like every other staff member, gladdened her heart. "Oh my God I will be getting a huge private office too? Wow! This is awesome" Jane screams with her hand over her mouth kicking her legs out of excitement in the air.
When Jane finished reading the mail word for word she headed to the kitchen as she was starting to feel her stomach rumble in hunger. Hurrying her breakfast she made her way to a beauty spa in preparation for her big job. "I need to look my best because this is not the town hall" Saying this she hurried to take her bath and leave for the place.
Locking her door she rushed downstairs and headed to the bus stand to board the bus. She arrived at the "Gg's Beauty Spa and Treatment''.
This place was her mum's favorite place before she died so she has made it her favorite place because it was owned by her mum's friend Mrs Genevieve. Not just that they are indeed the best female beauty place in the center of New York. Before you get to do anything in Gg's you have to make an appointment days or weeks earlier.
But because she was the daughter of her late friend, she got the privilege of walking in at any time. "Make me pretty like you always do Aunty"! Jane said, walking inside the place with a smile.
"Hey, baby girl! How have you been all this while"? Mrs Genevieve said with open hands approaching Jane for a hug.
"I have missed you a lot! Have a seat let me make you the prettiest girl in the whole world". Mrs Gg's continued saying while hugging Jane.
"I have missed you a lot too Aunty"! Jane said taking her seat.
And after some minutes the staff started attending to Jane starting from a soothing massage to the last part of the treatment which was a pedicure. After what seemed like forever they were done with her and woke her up as she had already slept off during the massage.
Jane woke up looking like a goddess and feeling so clean.
While she was happily checking out herself in the mirror Aunty G spoke from behind. "You remind me so much of her! You are so beautiful".
"Thank you, Aunty"! Jane replied with a big smile while paying for the services. As usual, she always received a big discount from her.
"See you later I will be taking my leave now"! Jane replied, making her way to the exit door. Jane came outside and was surprised that it was already dark Gg's place sure is another world. Hurrying home to get her work things ready for tomorrow.
She quickly microwaved her leftover oxtail rice for dinner, took a quick shower, and headed straight to her wardrobe to pick out her outfit which was a pair of high-waisted pants with a flowery designed collar of a white shirt. "I must look good on my first day"! Jane said to herself with a slight giggle.
Making sure to park up her handbag with everything she thought she might be needing for her first day she went straight to bed feeling as light as a feather.
