REALISATION

"It's you!" I said in almost a whisper. My mind went blank as I stared into his eyes wanting to find my answers. I was confused about whether the person in front of me was real or not. I lowered my eyelids thinking it was an illusion, when the person pulled me into a crushing embrace.

"God Jane, I'm so glad that you're alright. You almost gave me a heart attack when I saw you covered in blood in the emergency ward." He sighs in relief, holding me close to his chest. As soon as I felt the warmth of his body enveloping me, all my fears melted away.

'It's really him!', I said to myself. The person I looked upto since I was in the fourth grade, the one I loved the most after my parents, the person who's my safe space.

It really was him. Although he was right there holding me in his arms, I still couldn't believe that all of this was actually happening. That the only person who saved and comforted me when others made fun of me for not having a mother, the one who accompanied me in the canteen while I ate my lunch, bought me ice-creams and wafers and kissed me on my forehead whenever I was feeling down, was actually back, in front of me.

I wrapped my arms tightly around him not wanting to let go of him, afraid that he'll disappear just like my Mom if I pull back.

He turns his face towards my right ear, probably confused, his warm breath tickling my skin. He then proceeds to rub circles on my back. I melt in response to his touch.

"I was looking at your details in the hospital form when I came across your Dad. I recognised him and it crossed my mind, that the patient I was about to assist to operate in the emergency ward was you. Do you know how worried I was when I saw you on that bed? All these years I've wanted to meet you but couldn't due to my work. And then I saw you lying there, your body covered in blood. I was afraid of losing you Jane!"

I could feels droplets of water falling on my back. 'He's crying!' My eyes were wide open. I pulled back slowly and looked at his face. 'This is the man I've been waiting for all these years. The man I love. He's back! My Senior Crush - Austen Parker!'
