The Smell Of Blood

The alarming lights on top of the police cars were glowing luminously. This building is under control by those police cars. The police department of CPA-4 had already present here with more than fifty police officers. Mr. Lukas and I were heading up the building slowly. We both were holding our police guns. My gun was loaded to the beam. Mr. Lukas gave me a signal to move forward. This looked like a scene from a detective. A super-secret mission. Mr. Lukas was on the lead and I was behind him, following his orders obediently. Behind us were the police officers.

At some point, Mr. Lukas stopped midway. As I was trailing him, I also stopped. We were on the 9th floor. This floor was darker than the ones we passed earlier. Was it because of the cut-out? We took the stairs to climb up here. It was MR. Lukas's idea to take the stairs. The hallway was long as a snake. The apartment doors were placed accordingly by the right side of the hallway. On other thought, it looked exactly like school dorms. All the doors were closed except one. A liquid type of thing was coming under the door. As the floor was dark, I couldn't see properly. Mr. Lukas stood stone in front of the door. His expression sniffed.

"Blood?" He muttered seriously.

"Did you just say blood?" I couldn't help but say it aloud.

"Reyes, Wait here!" He ordered me coldly. Then he stepped onward into the apartment. The door creaked loudly and echoed throughout the hallway.

"CREEEAK"

I did as he told me. MR. Lukas vanished in thin air. I could see his body disappear into the darkness of the apartment. I was only beholding at that and stood idle. My anxiety rose and thinking if one of them was inside that apartment. If it's MR. Lukas, there's nothing to worry about. He can easily kill them. I got the proof of it from how he dealt with Renar.

After a while, a voice came out of the apartment, "Come" It was Mr. Lukas's voice. I with the officers entered hurriedly. What we saw wasn't something we expected. It was a bloody scene indeed. The whole apartment was enclosed with red blood. The intense smell of the blood made me puke. I came out of the apartment and began vomiting in a corner of the hallway. Many of the officers laughed at me.

"Look, that kid can't even hold his—"

"Haha… Look at that—" And pointed out me to his nearby officer.

It pissed me a lot how they were making fun of me. But what made me pleased was that the officers who were making fun of me a second ago came out running and began vomiting with me.

After finishing my business, I again entered the apartment. Now, Mr. Lukas was observing a dead girl's body. His right hand was on his chin. He was scratching it while gathering his thoughts. I stood next to him as his junior. Moreover, I pulled out my notebook and was about to write it down.

As I was about to ask him what his thoughts were, he said in an angry tone.

"We… We are late, Reyes. If only we had come a little faster, we could save her." This is the first time I saw MR. Lukas in this manner. He was someone who would always stay calm and collected. But today for some reason he seemed very not himself. I lowered my head as I was also feeling guilty about not coming early.

He then again went to his usual self and began examining the body. The body was covered by a white cloth. I was only able to grasp that it was a girl's body. By wanting to take a close look, I lowered my back. Mr. Lukas noticed the curiosity in my eyes.

"Want to take a look? Do it but don't pull the lower part of the cloth." White cloth was placed onto the body to hide the gruesome.

I pulled the cloth slowly. First, it was a head of gorgeous, pale-looking beauty. Seeing her face made my heart melt. Why the world is so cruel? This beautiful girl had to give his life away to a monster. Mr. Lukas did say not to pull any more than before her belly. But I couldn't hold and curiosity and pulled the cloth—

I was just dumbfoundedly staring at the floor only as there was nothing below her stomach. All her intensities were flowing out. It was a horrible sight. I covered her as quickly as possible. Seeing me flustered Mr. Lukas made a slight grin.

"How was it? Nasty, isn't it?"

"Y-Yeah…" I gave him a half-assed answer.

"That boy lives next door. Break the door and search the apartment." He gave orders to the police officers who were wasting time gossiping with each other. They all left this apartment and were on the apartment door beside this one.

"Reyes!" He shouted towards me.

"Yes, sir!"

"Call all media and report that the boy is on run." Mr. Lukas also gave me a task to do. I was about to get out of that massacred place but looked back to see what MR. Lukas was doing. He took the pick-colored cell phone that was laying on the floor. The screen of it was cracked and blood stuck on those cracks. I didn't what he saw but I gasp it was a massage. The last massage ever made with this phone.

"You have to pay for it Jodan. When I catch you, I would take out your organs first." Mr. Lukas said silently. The look on his face was dark and bloodcurdling. It shivered my whole body. When Mr. Lukas was about to look behind, I looked forward and left the apartment hurriedly.

-----Five Hours Ago-----

"So, this is the dumpster Renar was talking about?" I asked MR. Lukas was standing beside me. We were both facing the pile of junk. I was grabbing my noise tightly as the smell of rubbish was intense. But Mr. Lukas didn't show any sign of holding his nose. Was he a superhero who could hold his breathing?
